Overlord of Night- Shadow

PostPosted: Tue Jun 23, 2009 9:25 pm

Renault's laugh was shaky, but still confident at Neros' words. "Of course I will trust you with it," he said gently. "Your work is no worse than what I once did... I know all too well these surroundings. This is not something I condemn; in fact, it is the gateway to many things which could be used to help humanity." He glanced away for a moment, things beginning to connect in his mind. All these things had happened lately, all in this place, and his mind had begun to turn, more and more, inexorably towards the ancient object in the cellar. Was that not what Soren had been studying, just before he had "left"? And in fact, the bishop was beginning to suspect that Soren had not actually left, but had in fact been affected in a similar way to how Renault was now being affected. "The Door," he breathed. "It must be... the dark god came from beyond that door. The feeling that trickles around it..."

But he said no more on the subject, eyes flashing back to his two dear friends with a cold and serious gaze. Melethia was... crying? A soft emotion sparked in his heart, and he reached out his hand to softly touch her back. "I'm... sorry, my friend. I know that you did not mean what you said, and I will gladly forgive you for this. But in return... I will need your help as well." A plan took shape in his mind, simple, but it seemed as if it would work. Good. It would be a suitable solution, at least for the moment.

"Melethia," he said gently, turning to her. "You can help, but you will have to trust both of us completely. You see, a dragon has far more quintessence than that of a normal person; therefore, so will you, and so we can use it without injuring you. In any normal living person, their quintessence will regenerate over time, such as your energy after a hard battle. So, after some rest, even if we do use your quintessence you will be all right." He turned his attention back to Neros, shaking his head. "But I will have to teach you how to handle and purify quintessence, and at least some of the making of a morph... if done as you are now, it will again be only a temporary fix, as you don't yet have even the skill Nergal had when I first met him. The problem will be that until then, I will need nearly constant energy, and you will have to learn in days what it took me hundreds of years to learn."

Even using his existing body as a base, this would be a job difficult for the bishop himself. It would be, in some ways, more difficult than constructing Kishuna's ravaged body had, and that process had taken him nearly three straight weeks. But he would have faith in this one. Although his body was warped and sometimes his mind seemed to be twisted, he still retained some part of what made him human - some part of his soul. And this only served to further the theories Renault had made over the years. One day, perhaps, he would compile those theories into one grand achievement...

His eyes showed his trust as he focused again on Neros. "I am willing to put my life in your hands," he said gently. "You, who have been one of my dearest friends." One hand came up, showing no revulsion, and gently touched the other's face. Most likely, he was unused to this; but whatever appearance may show, he was human. He would have Renault's care. "Now, we must plan. As long as you are willing to help me - both of you - I am willing to continue to fight. I cannot die, not yet. There are people who need me."

((Aaaaand I think it would be easier to make secret plans through IM, so you two really only need to make one more post each. >3))

Melethia looked up at Renault. There were still some tears in her eyes but there was also some hope in them. She was hoping that the solution that Renault had planned would work.

"I'll do whatever it takes Renault." She said, "I'll do whatever it takes to keep the men I care about alive. Even if it means doing something that most people wouldn't find to be right."

Neros gazed on sympathetically as the tears fell. He could see her face clearly in the darkness, twisted by the anguish of being useless and helpless.

Trudging into the snow, possessed by nothingness, he yielded himself to the mercy of the winter as an owl swooped down the path to a life-altering destination.

He knew the feeling all too well. He watched the tears trickle down and felt their coolness seep through his shredded sleeve, and the more he let the tears hit him the more a completely different emotion permeated his mind. He began to realize that these tears were normal: salty, clear, watery tears. When they crept to the rim of one's eyes they merely blurred the vision. And he found himself envying Melethia, for his own tears were black, viscous, tasteless, and they literally blinded him when they crept to the rim of his eyes.

Disgusting!! Push her off! She's a sniveling wannabe royal brat who whores for attention and love!!
Shut up.
Feel those tears! Don't they stink of pettiness!?
Shut up.
There's no reason to defend her. You were scared of her! You hated her! All you wanted was —

Neros forced himself to ignore Melethia now, clenching his fangs as he glanced to Renault. The contempt was dizzying. He tried to clear the chaos in his mind, but more voices had leapt into the cacophony, urging him on to forget all this and deny Melethia and Renault, reminding him he didn't need anyone's help, encouraging him to ruin the two of them once and for all. But he shut them out, for guilt kept his sight in the line of reason. He couldn't forgive himself if he hurt Renault or Melethia.

Since when does guilt decide anything you do? Didn't you kidnap and kill all these villagers for your experiments?

"Of course I will trust you with it."

That was a slap in the faces of every personality Neros had. The noise in his head suddenly stopped and he stared at Renault in a most startled fashion. As Renault continued, Neros finally slipped the glowing bottle into a secure part of his robe, closing his claw around it through the fabric to make sure it hadn't spontaneously vanished. He nodded absentmindedly, distracted by his own confusion until a particular term was uttered.

Neros silenced himself and focused every sense on Renault as soon as 'The Door' fell from his lips. He tensed slightly, his wings shivering at the mention of it.

"The dark god," he chuckled, face splitting into a grin. "The very thing I cursed in the middle of my research."

A tome slamming against The Door, Soren deprived of sleep, shrieking.

Neros felt pride eke its way into his system. Renault trusted him and even encouraged his experiments! His pride showed through by his high head and expanding wings. He soon managed to relax himself, cocking his head and lightly folding a wing around Melethia.

Dragon quintessence. He'd always wanted to play with dragon quintessence.

Neros licked his fangs at the thought of it, smiling sweetly at Melethia, glad that she was willing to lend her assistance. That didn't last long when he felt Renault's hand on his face. Neros turned his head, completely tame by that point in time, a gentle look upon his pallid face. He could not sense any hostility from the bishop. He would not spit hostility back at him.

"All right," murmured Neros.

Mika had not found her Madriana morph. She went down to the door... Mostly to sulk...

Where could it be? What had happened the night she was working on her? Where had it gone...?

She layed on the floor of the basement. She made a small ball of darkness and began to toss it in to the air and catch it.

I'm lonely. What am I doing, anyhow? What do I have... in my life...?

Anger...

She idly played with the little ball of darkness... Waiting for... something... Nothing...

Loki sat at a large, cherrywood desk in his shrine, far away. Immortality lends itself to boredom, and he was passing the time by writing down every ten-letter word he could think of. "Let's see," he murmured. "Pach... one two three, fo-- yeah, pachyderms..." He looked up sharply as an adorable white ball of fuzz hopped up onto the desk and ran onto the paper.

Váli the Felchinchilla, Loki's little-known familiar and closest companion, sat back on its haunches and waved its tiny claws while Loki offered the rodent his hand, palm up. The Felchinchilla ran onto his hand and up his arm to his shoulder, squeaking softly and rubbing at the black circle around its eye, which trailed a line down its cheek. It had the appearance of a monocle, to match that of its master.

Loki listened, frowning a bit and crossing his arms. "I see. Good work, Váli," he said, conjuring a raisin and offering it to the little creature. Pleased with his reward, the Dark God's familiar took the raisin in his mouth and scampered off to eat it elsewhere.

Loki closed his eyes and sighed. "So she has sent her dogs after me, has she? She sends fox-hounds to a dragon! Ha! Still... as long as I know where they will be..."

The Door swung open in Fefga's, leading to the mouth of the cave which led to Loki's shrine. He appeared, ethereal, before Mika, hands folded as he approached her. "My dear... I require your aid. And at the same time, I can help you, too... come through the Door, and call the Heroes to join you! Your enemies and mine have discerned my location, and the time has come to catch them as they come! Prepare your armies and wait outside my cave... it is time!"

He disappeared again, shaking his head. "Ah, how I wish I could simply crush them, Váli," he called, "But of course, there are always the Rules. But we shall see, when they enter my shrine... what they think of MY rules, hm?" He laughed darkly, eyes narrowed as he sat back in his chair.

Mika had sat up, delighted at Loki's appearance. "Loki!" She had said excitedly. But he delivered his message and disappeared as quickly as he had come. "Oh..."

He's gone, and he needs my help! She got up and looked to the ground. Loki... He needs me again! I have to help him...

She ran out into the main part of the mansion. "Guys! All you... Heroes! Where are you? I need you... I need you now!"

A dark silhouette from the door frame became most apparent. "Yes, Miss Mizeeka?" He breathed as if it took him no effort to walk into the scene appearing typically bad a**, a trait like no other, without replication from any movies. Well, maybe Blackie Chan, but that's low budget anyway.

He moved into the room with a swing in his step and a rather luxurious stance. Leaning on the couch, Ledreak posed in a usual stance that most say him in.

"L-Ledreak was it?" She said excitedly. "Loki needs us... He needs our help! We have to go to him... And destroy the people of Eyris once and for all... Where are the others?"

Misura Tsudan

A slight smell of smoke wafted into the room, then the door slammed open against the wall as Misura slammed in. Her armor was missing - not that it mattered, she had other sets - but she was limping, clothing charred and burned, was was some of her skin. She bled, as well, from some unseen wound... The woman gave Mika only a scant glance, perhaps a glare from under lowered brows, before turning and beginning to move slowly towards the hallway. "You're... going to have to... wait a bit for me," she rasped at the girl. "Damned dragon... took more work than I'd expected... I need to see Jyoti first." She didn't look as if she'd collapse anytime soon; but she didn't look as if she'd be any help in a battle anytime soon, unless she were healed. Even the blade held across her back still glowed gently, radiating some of the heat it had taken on. "Go ahead without me... I'll catch up."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:31 pm

Childishly, Mika pouted a bit. "Misura? Hm... Why can't you come along? And where are the others...? We're going to be waiting for them anyways..."

Misura paused, then looked at the girl, a look of mild astonishment crossing her face. "Isn't that OBVIOUS. I was just burned and maimed rather badly by a dragon, I need to be healed, I am going to have to get another set of armor, and in any case I refuse to leave without Jyoti. Does that make sense to you, child?" This girl wasn't exactly the sharpest arrow in the quiver, was she? "And if you're going to be waiting, you shouldn't have any objection."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:43 pm

Mika curled her hands into fists and held them next to her hips, making a stubborn face. "Loki needs help! He's your god, your savior he made you! Go heal up and hurry up about it!"

She crossed her arms and turned around. Were they running out of time? These people were supposed to be like her slaves right?

"MADE us?" Misura laughed, shaking her head and resting on Vezra for a moment. "I was made just like you, little girl, from a mother's womb. I'm not sure who your Loki is, and it doesn't really make any difference to me. God? Savior? I'm not worried about who needs help, I'm worried about staying alive, and keeping Jyoti alive... the others as well, I suppose, but not to any great extent. Do you think I'd really be helping you if it wasn't for that?" This thought amused the woman, and she gave a louder bark of laughter before bringing her gaze back to rest on Mika. "I wouldn't follow a child like you if I had any choice otherwise."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:53 pm

"Don't you remember?!" Mika stomped the ground with her foot. "He brought you back to life. And he did it so you would serve me. To help me! I want my revenge on the people of Eyris for my sister and somehow they hurt him too! They're horrible people and they're going to kill you AND Your Jyoti!" She pointed a finger at her. "And you'll die if you don't listen to me. So get ready to go!"

Jyoti's heart skipped a beat, hearing the rather familiar voice come from inside the manor. She arrived back moments before and was planning on slipping in quietly, going to find some spare clothes to replace her soaked ones. However, sometimes plans need to change.

And, well, this was one of those times.

"Mi-Misura!!" The Heal staff in her hand was already rising as she slipped in through the open door and approached the general. She looks... so hurt... She thought dumbly, her gaze focusing on the general. "Misura..." She didn't need to be told to heal; she held out the staff in front of her, focusing as a light blue orb appeared, slowly but surely healing Misura's wounds and easing her pain. The valkyrie remained still for several moments, eyes closed, magic focused, biting her bottom lip slightly with determination, until she felt that Misura should be fine, "should be" being the key words.

Jyoti's eyes reopened and she stared at the general with worry and concern. Suddenly, her own issues seemed minuscule... "Are... Are you alright now?" She hugged Antaram to her chest with one arm, hesitant to touch Misura yet, though she wanted to just completely ignore Mika and give the general a huge hug. However, she also didn't want to accidentally hurt Misura in the process.
