The tram pulls into the station. Once its doors open, the sole passenger steps off. It's Jin, still whistling a tune. One elongated ear twitches and he turns in the direction of voices. He spots someone with which he is unfamiliar, who soon after turns into a sparking cloud. And there's also a tornado.

Jin blinks in confusion. Then he gives his shoulders a shrug and makes his way to the Kaze Dojo door. He enters the building and proceeds to the kitchen.

Iri can't help but notice her first student making his way to the front door of the big windmill. So he made it back from his first mission in one piece. That's a relief. She'll have to ask him how it went later. In the meantime...

The avian's voice echoes from the core of the tornado. "That's a good example of mixing elemental styles and demonstrating how the elements are connected. It's not something of which I'm capable. Not yet, anyway. You have some control over Rai, and I don't. My method would probably include heating the air to produce heat lightning, or figuring out how to use static in the air. It's useful, though. Mixing the destructive power of a tornado with lightning could be devastating. It might be hard to handle, though. If you think you can do it, then start practicing the idea on a small scale and work your way up. That's how I learned a portion of what I know of Kaze. Just be mindful of your energy level and concentration."

A deafening screech tears through the air, seemingly coming from all sides. The noise is tangible, sending shivers through the body and knocking lesser creatures to the ground as it threatens to shatter even the most well-tempered glass. The sound only lasts a few seconds, then is followed by a few seconds of silence, and finally a roaring cacophony of birds flying overhead, headed north, blocking out the sun in black splotches. The clouds far to the South are dark and twisted.

Jin is no longer conscious. He's on the ground and twitching in a morbidly comical sort of way. Nobody knows it, of course, because he's by himself in the Kaze Dojo's kitchen. His sensitive ears just can't take that kind of noise. He'll be fine. But he won't wake up for a while. And he'll wake up with a head ache like no hangover can possibly give.

Iri had almost lost her concentration on the air technique. Almost. If she had, that might have ended badly for her and Dalcon. Had she been in a true physical form, nothing could have held her concentration together. Now her attention is focused on the strange clouds south of the Academy.

The tornado collapses and forms two clouds. The clouds form the bodies of Iri and Dalcon, and after a flash of energy, the two are back to their solid forms.

The avian twirls her naginata in one hand; the weapon has been hidden as a small sphere of air til this point. The other hand rests on her hip.

"That... Doesn't look good."

Dalcon drops to a knee, looking wide-eyed and covering his ears against the screech. "Aaah!"

One wing extends downward to protectively wrap around Dalcon. The other extends outward only to fold against her back. It's a nervous movement. The clouds are what make her nervous. What would do that to the clouds? And the sound.

Should she investigate? Or should she stay and protect her students and her dojo?

The avian shifts her feet and shakes her head, like a bird preparing to take flight.

"What in the hell was that?"
Dalcon stands back up, looking over at Iri. "Wh...what in the hell was that?"

"Dunno," she mutters. "Doubt that was natural, though. Not sure if I should get invovled, either. If it makes that kind of a noise, there's no telling what the damage was."

Iri stops spinning her naginata and brings it into its resting position. What's in that direction? She can't think of anything in particular. Not right off hand. But, that looks damn close to the Academy.

"Any guesses, kid?"

"I have no idea..."
Dalcon scratches his head, his eyes still wide. "Apart from a thump from God."

Iri shakes her head. "Sorry, not religious. Despite appearances."

The avian looks down at the kid. Her eyes stare back in the direction of the ominous clouds. This exchange happens a few times before she takes a glance back at Kwubara and then the Dojo. For once, her expression is quite readable. She's torn between two choices.

Eventually, she says to Dalcon, "This is probably stupid, but I really wanna know what did that. What do you say? Should I stay or go? Second opinions always help."

"Not yet...Do you really think you can handle that?" Dalcon sits down in the grass, vaguely staring in that direction. "Daedalus gave us trouble..."

The woman's free hand reaches up to scratch the back of her head and she grimaces.

"Ya got a point there. I'm not up for something that makes that kind of mess. Guess I better hang back and watch from a distance."

Iri lets her naginata dissolve into air again. It starts to flow around her in lazy spirals. She chews on her lip for a few moments. Then she looks back down at Dalcon. With a shrug, she plops down next to the kid and crosses her legs Indian style.

"Guess air spies wouldn't be good, either. Don't wanna draw unwanted attention."

The avian sighs and falls back to let herself sprawl in the grass. She's just being twitchy. Staying still isn't easy for her.

"Hate to say it, but maybe we should report to the head guy?"
All thoughts of training abandoned for now, Dalcon chews on a finger thoughtfully.

(( I think I'm gonna go for now, friends are getting pissy at me being antisocial.))

(( You shoulda told me you were with friends! Go have fun! ))

Iri nods her head. "I know he doesn't like this, but..."

"Kaimen? Did you hear that? It was pretty close to the Academy. Should I stay put or investigate?"

After returing to a physical form, Kwubara looked to the south. He could hear the concern in Iri voice.

"I'll check it out for you. It will give you piece of mind, plus it will give you time to see how you other student is doing. He said over the sparks crackling along his body.

"Are you out of it?"
Dalcon looks at Gumby incredulously, and it should be a mark of how dire things are that Dalcon is trying to be the voice of reason.
"What happens if that....whatever it was comes down again while you're scouting? If Iri shouldn't go, neither should you or I."
