Tom had played absolutely no part in the past campaigns since he had gotten to theta halo, mostly staying back and hiding in case everyone else died, but now he decided to take action.
He dashed from his safe position behind their lines, and was spotted by no less than four elites and a hunter. Screaming like a crazy person, he took cover behind a large outcropping of rock with a shade on top. (shades are the covenant turrets that shoot the three sided shots.)
((also, I am still defending the butte))

Lieutenant Twombley had been too busy with other things to notice that Angel had run off through the minefield into the covenant's temporary base, but was being moved at the time to be restationed at the northern side of the butte to help support the battle there. Twombley hadn't noticed Angel leaving the defensive perimeter until he was already passed the mind field. "Oh God.." He had tried hailing Angel via com link but no response. Several minutes had passed before a explosion went off, that sent a shockwave over the base.
The Lieutenant had almost been knocked off balance by the shockwave but balanced himself accordingly. He sighed knowing the mindless Marine had now been killed. The first KIA for the battle of the butte. He called on the com again to Major Orden this time, 'Sir, Angel Natavi is KIA.'

He heard the explosion, he couldn't belive how big it was. He turned and seen a grunt fire and the plasma bult grazed the top of his left shoulder. He fired the battle rifle and watched the little basterd fall in a pill of his own blood. He turned on his COM and asked "What the hell was that explsion from?"

All units, The Covenant are weaking. Keep up the good job. Do not let Private Natavi's sacrafice go to waste! I need Major Orden or Twombley to retrive his dogtags. GIVE EM HELL TROOPS!! Captain out.

He shock his head. So it had been Natavi who had caused the explsion. He started to fire down the butte. He had turned his attenchin toward Elites. They seemed to be makeing more progress then the others, so someone had to get them.

Twombley replied to the Captain's order,
'Yes sir, ill try to get them when the fight is over-'
The Lieutenant hadn't really thought if there were actually any dog tags remaining after that blast. At least Angel's death wouldnt be in vain, that explosion had to have taken out a large amount of the infantry that had been trying to take the southern pass. He still hadnt been given orders to reassign the Scorpions so he assumed that things were not extremely difficult for the guys at the north side.

"Agh damnit...." Kristi was in front of the mine strip so she couldn't back up the butte and was getting worried, again they were sending higher ranks up the butte and her leg was stressed so much that it had broken and was virtually shattered. Ofcourse it hurt like a mother but she was to busy to realize it. For some reason she hadn't heard the explosion, probably the drugs and battle ambiance. -hey! I'm stuck down here! I know I ******** everythin up here but I need a pickup somehow or a safe path through those mines, its gettin to hot down here!"

Tom's special rock was one of those particular spots that were hit with the full power of the shockwave of the explosion, but no more than that. Thankfully, he was in the lee of the rock, but it was complete chaos all around him. He was just about ready to go into the fetal position and start walking in circles on the ground when he saw the elites fly past him and slam into the wall with a sickening crunch that could be heard over the dying howl of what he supposed to be some sort of nuclear weapon. The hunter, of course, was still alive, but that wasn't too much of a problem. He had learned a technique in the covenant training simulations to deal with any one hunter quite easily.
He nodded, gained his resolve, and walked out of the cover of the rock to find the hunter about 5 feet from him, unconscious but not dead. There was no hunter blood anywhere around.

Sir. Ill get the dog tags, even if thay are melted. He looked to Gapenski and said "Lets go" he started to fall back takeing a safer path around. It took him a good ten minutes to make it within sight of the explosion area. He was glad to see that not to many elites were around. He slung his battle rifle over his should and said to Gapenski "Cover me" he took off at a full sprint. There were bodies everywhere. It was hard to look at his fallen commrads that had been within range of shrapnel. He slide to a stop laying on his side, it look like the right body, it was the most mangled. He looked at what seemed to be the neck and grabed some metel off. He could barely read it, but it said "Natavi" He jumped up and ran for cover behind the rock where Gapenski was stationed. He felt a sharp pain strik his back. A little grunt had shot him in the back, luckily it hadn't been fully charged. He fell behind the rock with Gapenski and said "Patch me, Ill give you cover to do so." He leaned over the rock and started to fire at anything he hated.

Reaching into Howies bag he pulled out some bandages shaking his head. "Stupid ********." He laughed and started to patch him up sloppily looking around wearily as he did so. He finished with the quick patch job and pulled out his pistol. "It's gonna be easier for the covenant to get through here since most of the mines got blown from the explosion...I think we should move farther back man...that way at least we'll have a fighting chance." He got up helping Howie to his feet half carrying him back towards there original position. He laid him down still holding his pistol he runs farther out than Howie and starts picking of the smaller grunts.
