Overlord of Night- Shadow

PostPosted: Tue Apr 14, 2009 12:26 pm

A chill wind rushed around Renault's figure, blowing his robes in odd directions, and his concentration was broken. His brow furrowed angrily. That wasn't the feel of a Goddess. And none of the windows were open... damn it. Well, then perhaps he couldn't expect any help from the Goddess...

A belated registration of Amelia's words brought him back to reality. Message... by squirrel? What was she- The bishop turned his head to one side and was a bit surprised to see a small animal holding a note with his name on it. Oh. That was odd. But, he might as well. "All right, I'm Renault. Give me that, then," he told the squirrel, reaching out and taking the message from its paws. After a moment, Renault sighed and simply opened the note. What did it say. . . ?

Ephraim nodded at her introduction and leaned forward. "I'm Ephraim" responding to her greeting. He leaned back once more and listened to her words "Least you've been here long enough to understand things.." muttering under his breath. After realizing what he just said he sat up straight again "Sorry, I don't mean it as a bad thing, its good to have friends even if they're not blood related you know? Its..I'll shut up now" silencing himself before the noble decided to babble about something completly unrelated about what she was talking about.

"Friends... not related to you?" Victoria was both puzzled and interested in this royal one. "What happened? Did you have a little family feud in the past?"

{Probably with Eirika, because she ran off with Innes- *shot*}

(( I'm currently in denial of that LOL!! Not really but they're still cute xD ))

The noble shook his head "Not a feud, I had a friend who was like a brother to me." turning his head down, he fiddled with his fingers a little. "Power consumed him and it ended his life. He couldn't blame himself for how weak he was all the time" he sighed "Aside from Seth, he was the other family like friend I had. Eirika decided to marry so I guess I kinda left the kingdom to her but she had no disagreement to my leaving"

The note was written in a fairly sloppy manner, the letters a bit wobbly in some places. Like the front of the note, the message inside was also written in blood.

Anyone who had seen his handwriting before could clearly tell that the note was from Nils.

“Renault,

My dear friend here, Daniel Tuck, has been
so generous as to allow me to send you this message. I’m going to get to the point. You impressed me. You tried to restrain me with your little light spell, and then upon release immediately smashed through the window and tried to catch up to me! That takes guts and skill.

Which is exactly why I want to take you down with my own two hands. Come to me, dear bishop. Come alone, with only what you can carry on you without the assistance of a bag. I am, as you know, hiding. Daniel Tuck will lead you if you so choose to accept my challenge.
(Oh, and don’t try any silly games with me, others. Daniel Tuck will flee if anyone other than Renault tries to find me, and then you
will suffer for it. Don’t doubt me or my abilities.)

I will be waiting for you.”

The squirrel twitched slightly, staring up at Renault and waiting patiently for his reaction.

Renault stared down at the note in his hands for a moment, hands shaking a little; not with anger, or fear, but with mirth. A moment later, the bishop burst out into laughter. "I 'impressed' him? He wants to 'take me down'? All right. That's perfect." He looked down at the little squirrel with a grin on his face. "I accept. Let's go; I'll drop my bag somewhere." He rummaged in his bag and looked down to choose; the tome he pulled out was the sacred tome, Luce. Aureola was a tome he would likely never use; it had been that of St. Elimine and to use it would be nearing blasphemy.

Stepping outside, Renault immediately spotted two people; Ephraim and Victoria. He didn't know Ephraim well, but Victoria, as a fellow bishop, he trusted. He walked up to them, probably interrupting their conversation, and held his bag out to Victoria. "I am going to recover Nils. I'd like you to watch over this until I return. Be careful; it holds the tome used by St. Elimine herself." He placed it in her arms, and without waiting for an answer turned and moved towards the waiting squirrel. "All right. Let's go." The only things he held were his tome and the Mend staff always strapped to his back, which he'd recovered from where Rhys had left it.

The squirrel, Daniel Tuck, chirped once more and then ran off, darting into the forest, without a real care if Renault was following or not. All he cared about was rather anyone else was following or not, which there wasn't.

Still... he took the lengthiest path possible with the most plants with thorns and needles.

(( ... I'll make a separate thread for us, Renault, once I figure out an awesome title for it. xD ))

((Okays. I'll wait then. One more post here.))

Renault crashed through the brush after the squirrel, eyes squeezed almost shut and an arm held over his face. Damn it, this squirrel was trying to ******** around with him before he got to the battle, wasn't it? Well, it wouldn't work. He had something to help. Unstrapping the staff from his back, he turned it and used the wooden end to beat his way through the thorned plants. Ha. Stupid rodent, it wouldn't get the better of him now. It was a good thing he hadn't worn his cloak, though, that would be torn to pieces and just be worse here.

A hand is ran through pale blonde hair as a man quickly walks towards the Fefga House. A quiver lay on his back, attached by a strap, bouncing slightly with each step the man took. On his left hip, a small dagger lay sheathed, clipped to his belt.

As the man reached the door to the house, a quick rattling of the doorknob made it swing right open. Quickly entering and pulling the door shut, the man looked around, expecting a bustling haven of activity.

"Hello? I was told by a guardsman in the local tavern that I'd want to come here. So... what is this little shack, anyway?"

Heading out of Siegell's room in a rush as she was, Ninian forgot about the note and locket lying on the floor. She walked quickly down the hall, entering the first empty room she saw. She shut the door behind her, and stood. For a long moment, she did nothing but try not to think. Even after she had calmed down, she still wasn't calm enough to sleep.

She walked over to the window, staring out into the night sky. She couldn't see the forest; it was too dark, and the woods were too far away.

Restless, she left, heading downstairs. Dangerous thought it may be, she wanted nothing more than to go downstairs and sit, staring at The Door. But alas, it wasn't to be.

She didn't recognize the newcomer standing in the foyer. She'd heard him call out, but most everyone was asleep by now. She stopped, standing on the bottom stair, one hand holding the railing.

"Um, hello," she said, hesitant. "Who are you?"

Finally, a sign of life in this remote locale! Arashe quickly made his way to the staircase, meeting Ninian at the base. Calmly, he entered a bow, a small smile on his face as he returned to a standing position.

"Glad to finally see a friendly face." Taking a hand through his hair again, Arashe glanced around the room, getting acclimated with the new area. "My name is Arashe Nyilas. I've just recently been... deposited in this land, and I was told to come here by some half-drunken clod at the tavern. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Whatever could your name me, madame?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:52 pm

Such a strange man he was, and yet so polite.

"I am Ninian, Sir . . . Nyilas, correct?" she said slowly, still surprised by his sudden appearance. "I don't know who could have sent you here, but . . . I must ask you don't disturb the others. It's been. . . ." She paused, collecting her thoughts. "Much has happened today, and I believe most everyone has gone to bed. I can show you to a room if you'd like; I'm sure you must be tired."

Such a kind soul, this one was. Definitely an improvement on the oafs in that village, that's for certain.

"Pleased to meet you, Miss Ninian." A troubled look came across his face as the utterance of 'much happening.' "...did something foul happen as of late, or was today just... busy?"

Taking the quiver off of his back, the man smiled at Ninian, eyes shining in the lamplight. "A room would be marvelous. Is there a charge, or is the lodging free?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 14, 2009 7:04 pm

"A little of both," the dancer told the archer. Yes, today had been quite busy, but 'something foul' was a fitting description as well. Really, that was an understatement, but Ninian didn't feel comfortable telling the details to this stranger.

"And no, there's no charge at all. This house is welcome to all who enter. Please, follow me." Silently, she led the way upstairs and to one of the empty bedrooms. "You are welcome to stay here for the night. I was just about to retire for the night as well."

Walking around, this axemen was getting bored. He longed for action, and he also wanted to go and see some of his allies. He hadn't seen them since that strange time with Leander. Walking towards the door, Bartre then wondered what would be new here. Maybe a new axemen for me to challenge...I will be the best Warrior here.
