She could feel the ripples in the water, they tickled her skin and she looked up to see well.. legs. Legs! That meant people! People meant fun! Much more fun than catching fish, while that was fun too. Forgetting about the fish she was chasing before, she turned fin and headed towards the surface.
She blew bubbles upwards playfully.
At least Naida wasn't going to ambush anyone, something her mother was infamous for as a child.

Aras was the first to notice the bubbles that suddenly began to appear, and she froze stiff in fear.
Kanis blinked. "What is it?" she asked, venturing a little deeper to see what was bothering her sister. She spotted the bubbles only a moment later, and she shrieked and turned on her heel and ran as fast as she could out of the water, running for the safety of Aragost's robes.
Ecthelion was confused by the girls' actions, and he turned around to see what was going on. He saw the bubbles too, but instead of fleeing in terror, a look of pure glee crossed his face.
"Sea dragon!" he cheered, running deeper into the water. "I'm gonna get it!"

Naida saw Ecthelion come towards her, though she couldn't tell yet it was Ecthelion since the water made his features all blurry. She giggled and began to swim around his legs and teasingly poking him.
She thought it was all fun.
"Mi?" Miyu was startled by the fact Kanis had run shrieking what had happened?

Ecthelion squealed when Naida started poking him, and he watched her from above the water's surface, waiting for the right moment to strike.
"I GOTCHA!" he laughed, striking with both hands and trying to grab her and drag her to the surface - but at five years old, he wasn't as good as he thought he was, and he managed only to grab the fins of her tail and slow her down instead.
"It's a monster!" Kanis wailed, still cowering in fright. "Don't let it hurt him!"

"Wiggle..." Naida looked behind her to see that she had been grabbed though she still had most of herself free.
She giggled at that and wiggled again trying to get out of Ecthelion's grasp.
Miyu blinked, she recongized that fin, it was pretty hard not to, mer fins were very unique she thought. Though she couldn't help but shake her head, only she and her mother would do that.
"Mi...." she murmured nervously to Kanis because she wasn't sure what to do with a wailing child, "That isn't a monster... that's Naida."

Ecthelion giggled and dug his feet into the bottom of the river, grunting and straining to pull Naida towards the shore. "I'm gonna get her!" he grunted. "Come ... on!"
Ruque giggled a bit. Obviously, whatever it was that Ecthelion had (a fish of some sort, he guessed), it wasn't dangerous, and he obviously wanted to land it.
"I'll help!" he said brightly, edging forward, shivering at the temperature of the water. He took hold of the other side of the tail and added his strength to the little boy's, and together they pulled Naida towards the shallower water.
Kanis sniffled a bit and looked at Miyu. "What-what's a Naida?" she asked in a small voice. "It's not dangerous, is it?"

Miyu rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly, "It's a she... and her name is Naida, and no she's not dangerous at all."
Just a bit mischeivous along with her playfullness.
As it was proven as the boys got her to shallow enough waters a head full of white hair could be seen out of the water. Once close enough to land, the 'fish' lifted her human body out of the water, turned around and stuck her tongue out at the boys.

Kanis stared at the white and blue thing that had been dragged up onto the shore. "What ... is she?" she breathed, coming out from behind Aragost.
Ruque stared in wonderment. "It's ... it's a people-fish?" he said in a confused tone.
Aras's fear was gone now, replaced by simple curiosity. "Maybe she's like Rhea," she suggested. "A hybrid!"
Ecthelion giggled. "She's fun!" he exclaimed. "I was playing with her with her nana yesterday! We had a lot of fun together!"

Naida blinked and looked at all of the children, at least until her eyes landed upon Aras. She blinked once and blinked twice, tilted her head before pointing at Aras.
"I remember you! You grew!"
Miyu had to think about it, and her memory jogged of Aras being at Elnara and Lore's wedding, only that was a very long time ago now that she thought about it.
"Naida is a mermaid," Miyu explained trying not to giggle, "Though I have a feeling she swam away from Feng again..."
Well Feng and Ryu to be technical.

Aras stared right back at Naida, but it wasn't until she spoke that her memory was jogged, and suddenly she remembered ... way back a long time ago ...
"You didn't," she said bluntly. "Um ... do you live here too?" She blinked again. "I thought you live ... in the desert place ..."
Kanis tilted her head curiously at Miyu. "Feng?" she repeated, not knowing who that was.

Naida blinked and shook her head, "I was visiting there for the wedding! And I'm visiting here too because Mommy's friend lives here!"
She giggled and tried to splash her tail at the boys.
"Feng is Naida's mother," Miyu tried to explain.
Fortunately she didn't have to explain far seeing as Feng was trying to look for her daughter, she landed her with the other children. A black head, with black tendrils of hair sweeping outwards appeared as dark brown eyes surveyed the children for a moment.
A moment was it all it took.
"Aras!" Feng's happy voice sounded before the mer herself appeared ready to hug.

Aras was about to reply to Naida when Feng appeared, squealing out her name. She jumped, startled, and nearly fell backwards into the water. "Um ... hi?" she squeaked.
Ruque surprisingly was not afraid by now - possibly because he was getting used to being around others of varied excitability. "Hey, do we know you too?" he asked her curiously.

"There you are!" Feng grinned reaching out for Naida and picking her little girl up.
Now that she was fuly in the shallow end it was easy to see that she had tail just like Naida only it was a bright yellow and red instead of cool blue and silver. She bent over to take a better look at Ruque.
"No... no I don't think I've met you, but I've met Aras."

Aras didn't remember a whole lot about Feng either. She had spent almost the entire trip with her father. But she did remember Feng's hyperness. She was glad she wasn't being pounced on as she had seen done so many times.
"Um ... I thought you had legs," she said in confusion.
Ruque tilted his head curiously. "Really?" he asked. "She like Grandmama then?"

"Oh, only when I'm not really in the water," Feng explained to Aras waving it off as nothing, "That's how I got around and of course the desert doesn't have a lot of water. Not like here."
She sighed happily, she loved the river here, she actually liked the river here better than her birthworld.
"It's easier to get around," she added.
