I posted this in some GBLT megathread on the forums and it's the best I've ever explained things in my life, so I'm going to copy-paste it here.
Hi, I'm Drew, a 20 year old MTF college student. I'm in a tough spot right now, living in a small town up in New England (that kind of town where everyone's grandparents seemed to have grown up together), and to be honest I'm scared. I have 2 friends from highschool, one I talk to on a weekly basis, and the other I haven't heard from in almost 2 years. I've told them both, the former is fine with it, the latter...I don't know, I haven't heard back.
I figured it out about 2 years ago. Ever had a nagging voice in the back of your mind, and thought you were crazy or something? I did. I felt like I had split personalities, and I thought I would be institutionalized if I told anyone. Well..it was just me the whole time. A 'me' that I wasn't ready to accept. I'm over that hurdle now.
I told my parents about my being bi when I told them about my partner (who is also MTF, bless her soul she's the reason I was able to come to terms with anything), but I don't know if I can tell them about this. I'm the oldest of 3, all younger brothers, and they all look up to me... I just don't know.
I want to move somewhere next year after I finish school with my partner (Bachelor's in Computer Science <3), but I don't know where, I just hope it's a place where I can dress and act like myself. I don't need surgery, or the law to recognize who I am, if my friends can accept me.
I suppose maybe I'm just new to all of this sweatdrop
Anyways.. hi.
I haven't really been in any communities before, and well, I figured it'd probably be nice..
