Phisarious laughed again. "Of course I was joking. I told you, I don't need money. I have enough to last me for the rest of forever, and then some." he told Alex. He then turned to look at her father. "Leaya is right, you have no right telling her what she can and can't do. The decision rests with her."

Her father looked at her. "It seems you need to decide what you want to do, dear." he told Alex gently. "I will stand behind you, whatever you decide."
Alex nodded her head. "I.. I need time to think..." she mumbled.

"Go ahead, take your time" Leaya said looking at Alex, "But only if you are making the decision"

Alexandra and her father both nodded, looking thoughtful. "I will think about it. This is not what I originally had planned for my life, after all..."

Phisarious looked at Alex. "What exactly did you have planned for your life?"

"I'm majoring in music and minoring in education... I want to teach little kids about the joys of music.." Alexandra replied to Phisarious softly, looking down at the table. "I... I want everyone else to be able to feel the music with their soul... like I do... to be able to create it... and hear the subtle nuances in every note..."
Her father blinked, looking somewhat suprised. He knew what she wanted to do when she graduated college, that's not what startled him. "Alexandra... that's the most you've said at one time since..." he stopped, not wanting to sadden the day.

"Don't you think that you could better do that for the world if you are known around the world. People would be able to feel the love you have for music, and they would take that, and they would see the world as you see it. Through your music." Phisarious pleaded with her.

"But... it's not the same though... an untrained ear can't tell the difference between a A and A minor... or the subtle difference between a baritone and a tuba... or a trombone..." Alex replied, starting to feel frustrated that her words weren't enough to explain it. "I don't mind making music for sale, really. But... what good is the music if they don't know what they are hearing?"

"Imagine if Beethoven believed what you are saying now. How would the world be? Or if Da Vinci had decide to not share his brilliance. You have a duty to this world."

Her father was being resolutely silent. He knew that her music was her one and only passion. She had never dated, she had never shown any interest in being anything like most other girls. And it made his heart glad that she was at least able to come out of her shell, even if it was to argue about how she should go about sharing her first true love.
Alex frowned. "Beethoven was deaf. And Da Vinci cared so little about what others thought that he risked being excommunicated by stealing corpses so he could learn more about the human body." she said passionately, suprising herself with the strength of her words. "They both had apprentinces, students that they taught. What rule is there that says that I cannot teach as well as create?" she asked, her face set stubbornly as she put a fist on the table. "Why can't I be both? What about my duty to be true to myself?"

Phisarious didn't like people talking about Leo in front of him. He felt a tear forming in his eye. "Yes, Leo was a great man. He cared a lot about people." He said, smiling. "You know, he would have encouraged you in that decision. He really did believe in the greatness that man could achieve."

Alex took a deep breath, trying to calm herself back down, as she realized several people nearby were watching her little outbirst with great interest. One of those being her father, how had a raised eyebrow and a slightly amused look to his face.
Finally, she spoke, her face a little red from embarrassment, but her voice was a bit calmer. "Yes, Di Vinci was a great man. But that was because he was true to himself. He devoted himself to his greatest love, the love of knowledge, of science. And he did whatever he needed to in order to advance that knowledge, and the Church and the rest of the world, as far as he was concerned, could take their issues with him at stuck them where the sun couldn't shine." Alex stopped to take a sip of her tea, her throat was dry from talking so much. "What kind of world would we have if he had not been true to himself? I don't care about my duty to the world. This is the true me. I will create AND I will teach, or you can take your offer and leave."

Leaya, who had been quiet all throughout Alex's flow of emotion, finally commented in a low and even voice.
"Nobody said that you couldn't do them both" Leaya said calmly, " To be honest, I'm not here for the money that this might bring, or the fame that might come"
"I have enough money, more than I can deal with at times, so what would I do with even more? As far as I care, you can keep all the shares that come with it" Leaya sighed and then said bitterly, "The only reason I do ask for it is because I know my father would consider it bad business sense"
"And as for fame, fame is a fickle thing and at best not even worth the time it takes to get it" Leaya finally stated as she turned her full attention toward Alex and looked into her eyes, "The only thing I really want from this....the only thing I care about is the music"
"So make up your mind, are we going to do this?" She looked around the table into each of their faces, " Or are we going to fight over someting that should really be so simple"
"We both enjoy music, we both want to get different things from this alliance" Leaya said almost candidly but quickly changed to a almost stern demenor, " but if you're really stuck on on the little details, I can leave now. No offence, but I have other ways to spend my time."

Erys playfully pinched Phi lightly on the shoulder. "Stop being so greedy, silly. She has a point, and Leaya agrees that she can teach while making her own music, and so do I. Just lay off a little, ok? Sheesh." Erys told him with an eye roll.
Alex suddenly felt worn-out from all that talking. Her cheeks were flushed and she seemed to sink back into her shell once more as she drank from her tea glass, wondering when their food was going to get here.

"I'm not being greedy. I even said that I didn't need any of the money. I'm only here to better the world." He glared at Erys. "But Leaya is right, we are in this for the music, and to be able to share this music with people around the world." Then the waiter returned, setting each meal in front of each member. Phisarious smiled at him as he walked away.
