And yeah I quit that guild as soon as I found out that the owner was a huge snob and pretty much tried ridiculing me in the introduction thread. So I thought to myself, "if that's how you want it then that's how you'll get it"... stare

Well I basically posted something first of all in their "art section" Which I was completely ignored for over 5 days then someone else posted in a different thread in the art section and they all continued to talk around me. So then I thought maybe they want me to do the introduction so I did. Anyways I explained that I like to draw more than write/role play. I also mentioned that I am a literal person however I use a few abbreviations because that's just how I am. I said I use "cuz" instead of cause, and something else but I forget what else is was at the moment and the owner of the guild had the balls to confront me and in a sense say that she was better than me. She said that all of her family are professional writers and some other s**t. And that she writes and spells out everything how it should be -as if I was some ******** 12 year old dumb ******** who uses text message talk or 1337.... Whether she meant that to be harmful or not, I took it that way and they still ignored my post in the art section after she said that stuff to me so I decided that I wasn't "good enough" for her so called guild and quit.

It sounds more like she's more interested in who you're related to then someones actual talent =/ That's incredibly disappointing in how stuck up she sounds. She thinks she's better because her family is full of people who do the same thing? That doesn't mean shes good, and if she relies on her family being what makes her then her style will turn dull and boring. My family may be full of art and writing talent but I NEVER rely on it to be what makes me good at what I do. I never say I'm good at art because I'm related to the Tiffany stain glass family do I? No, actually I don't think I ever told you. Why? I don't find it important. My hands constantly shake so despite who my family is I don't have natural talent and anyone who says there's a such thing as raw talent when your shaking makes it twice as hard, not to mention if they start violently shaking its very hard to avoid destroying what I was working on unless its on the computer. What I can do I can only do because of my own work, open mind, and creativity. Though sometimes critiques take what I say the wrong way when I say I already saw those mistakes then point out the others or when they say 'this looks a little..' then get huffy when I thank them because that was on purpose, which I really don't understand why they would get huffy. Anyway, despite the writing and art talent that runs through both sides of my family I very likely have writing dyslexia and my hands shake so the only reason I'm wonderful at ether is my own efforts and has nothing to do with my family. Family isn't what makes the artist and when someone suggests they're better because of who they're related to I honestly find it horribly insulting. At least to me its horribly insulting because it sounds like its spitting on the efforts of those who work incredibly hard to improve and broaden themselves.

Yes, she was very much stuck up when I was talking to her. She made me realize though that I don't need to be in her guild or any guild that is going to make me feel lesser of a person just because she "thinks" she's better than me and everyone else in there. So that's why I quit.
As for the family stuff, I agree with you on that one. 3nodding Apparently the name Parrish is famous artist type or some crap like that I have no idea and I don't honestly care. I was influenced to draw by my oldest sister I looked up to her a lot and I feel that's where I've gotten my passion to draw and some other likes too. I mean she did use to drink Dr. Pepper all the time and now I've taken a liking to it too. xD; *shrug*
But I don't believe that just because someone in your family is good at one thing it means you're great at it. I've been working on my drawing ever since I was young it's not like I picked up a pencil one day and was like OH SNAP I'M AWESOME! No no no it's been a long time and most of my middle-high school I spent time on developing my characters and designs on. *nod*
