"Eh...." Lin thought about it.

She laughed at herself, and here she thought she had become more use to things here... well it sounded like that wasn't the case at all. It was nice to know there were still parts of her that were Gaian.

"Oops, yes. Office is a Gaian word, her study is where she is, you're correct. Normally I'm good in not mixing up the terms."

Shiro chuckled softly, his wings relaxing for the first time since his aunt and cousins had entered the castle.

"It's hard to remember that things that are commonplace back home aren't in existance here," he smiled. "Offices, pens, phones, stoves, fridges, showers ... the things we take for granted and some people can't imagine living without ... but I think it's fine, I like this world. It's so much cleaner than back home."

Amalthea smiled. "Then I was right," she laughed softly. "Ah, she must not have changed a bit. Even before she was queen ..."

She trailed off, smiling softly. "Everyone thought that Elnara would grow up to be just like her ... but life has a way of surprising us, doesn't it?"

As they walked, she was walking right beside Shiro, Ura and Lin, keeping pace with them almost as if she were leading them, and not the other way around. Of course, this was her mother's home: she did after all know her way around, even if it wasn't the same castle she had grown up in.

Personally Lin couldn't imagine Elnara being like her grandmother. There were similiaries yes, but not the sort of stuck in a study all day. Though the current situtation was just as good, after all Elnara had kids, she was going to get marry and maybe have more kids.

"Life," Lin agreed, "Is full of surprises."

She grinned at that, because she knew what it was like to be one of those surprises.

Shiro chuckled softly. All of the family had been a surprise, at one time or another. As they reached the door of the queen's study, he stopped and motioned for Amalthea to do the honours.

"Here we are," he said softly, his bright eyes glowing softly.

Amalthea smiled softly, clasping her hands together. She of course couldn't knock - it would be considered beneath her (not in her own opinion, but of course a queen had her own set of rules that had to be followed). Instead, she spoke softly to one of the guards, who smiled and bowed low, then opened the door of the study and stepped inside.

"Her majesty, Queen Amalthea," he announced, the cheer in his voice quite obvious.

And it was only then that Amalthea entered the study, her son and granddaughter following.

Lin tilted her head a bit, how curious she thought to herself. She did not pretend to have understood what just happened. Though she supposed, it had somethign to do with the fact that Amalthea was queen. Mentally she shrugged to herself before following the other three in.

She wanted to get a better feel for these three whom she had never met before until now.

Shiro exchanged a glance with Ura, then the two of them followed the others into the study. They wanted to know what was going on as well, and though Shiro had the feeling that he should probably be getting his mother or grandmother, he couldn't help but want to see what happened in there.

Atalya of course was pleased to see her daughter, and she immediately abandoned her work and moved to greet her, arms outstretched.

"Amalthea," she murmured with a warm smile, embracing her warmly.

Amalthea laughed softly. "Yes, we made it, Mother. It was a long journey, but a safe one."

She stepped back then and motioned for the rest of her family to step forward.

"You know Ander, of course," she smiled warmly, "but I don't think you've met Wren yet."

Atalya smiled and greeted Ander, then turned her eyes to the tomboyish Wren. "No, I haven't," she murmured, changing over to Common Elvish. "I'm glad to finally meet you, Wren ... I've heard so much about you."

Wren's oddly coloured eyes sparkled mischievously. "Papa has never let me travel before," she said as if explaining. "But I'm glad I could finally make it."

Lin listened carefully, more so since she had learned Common Elvish later on in life. There were times where it took her a while to understand, even though at this point she wasn't so bad in it. She just didn't get as much practice as she did with High Elven.

She wondered though, if Wren was one of those people who would love to travel, she wondered what Wren did if she wasn't allow to travel until now.

At long ... long last, the day of the wedding arrived, and Elnara and her mother skipped breakfast (bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding, after all) and began to prepare for the much-anticipated event.

Serenity helped Elnara to bathe and wash her hair, then put on her dress and put her hair up. As a final touch, she set a flower in her hair, one that matched her red and gold dress.

When they were finally finished, she smiled and stood back, observing her daughter closely.

"I used to dream about this day," she whispered softly, her eyes shining brightly. "You look beautiful."

Elnara laughed softly and stepped forward to hug Serenity. "Thank you, Mother," she said warmly, holding her tightly.

Serenity gave Elnara one final squeeze, then let her go. "I'll go see if Celebor's ready," she smiled. "I'll see you again later."

Elnara nodded and stepped back. "Later," she agreed softly.

Meanwhile, the throne room had been prepared for the wedding. Rows of benches had been brought in, and the enormous hall had been decorated for the event. There was an aisle between the rows of benches, and at the front of the hall, the thrones of the King and Queen had been moved slightly closer together.

Already, the sound of harp music could be heard all throughout the hall, and two guards at the door were taking turns showing the attendees to their seats.

Ruel and his family were already seated on the left side of the room, along with Gion and Nadya and their family, Elnara's brothers, cousins, aunt, and father. Serenity of course would be joining him soon.

Elnara's adopted family would be sitting on the other side, with Lore's invitees, since the man had no relatives of his own to speak of.

Kara Winters

PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:01 pm

Helen had been kept busy to the point of being utterly delighted after all he was the one who always made the clothes, and a wide variety he was allowed with, since everyone was different (more or less). He had barely managed to drop off at Arwen's room the indigo kimono painted in lavender and pale, pale purple what looked to be waves of the sea crashing forward, turning into horses as they ran up the back.

He had to drag Mia to Arwen's room to help put the kimono on, Mia knew how to, even though she didn't wear any. She preferred the lotita style of clothing, full of black and white, though Helen put more white than black. No need to scare anyone more than needed. He also rushed to tend to the groom, since someone had to.

The Winters had already begun to file in, the older children herding in the younger. Making sure they found their seats. The younger children couldn't help but feel amazed at all that had been done to the room for this occassion.

Donovan was standing in the aisle counting heads to make sure everyone was here. Since both Elnara and Lore were going to be up front, it meant that some one was going to have to keep an eye on Elnara's little ones who would be sitting up front of the assistants.

Lin was one of the last of the older children to arrive, Donovan tried not to frown as he noticed she had forgone the stockings and sandels that traditioanlly came with her kimono, and opted for bare feet.

She was like her mother.

Lore in all of his life was not used to being fussed over, so one could only imagine how much he was being fussed over at the moment by his assistants. It had been decided that it would be Yuki to stand by Lore, for no other reason than the fact that he had no one else really.

Besides, they were the closest thing he had to a family up until now. Tristan was braiding his hair, saying in the clothes he was giving it would make him look very nice. Besides it would be better than loose.

That was the other thing, this was probably the finest set of clothes he had ever worn (and proof he really had to start getting himself a pair of pants). Black dress pants and a blue and silver shirt with tails.

"Now hold still," Tristan murmured, "We're almost done."
"It's a pity we can't have a picture," Rune replied studying Lore.
"What, no one brought a camera?" Yuki asked.
"Here? Are you nuts?" Tristan asked.
