Ayumi approached the front desk of the lobby and took out a small notebook. She began writing the events that happened in her 'interrogation' with the children. She had written down what was said because she had forggten to do so earlier. When she finished she put her notebook back in her pocket and leaned agianst the front desk and looked around. Yuriku The irish woman earlier seemed to be consoling a bed-ragged girl with similar redish hair, that was hard to believe. Was it really the same Adine who accused them of tresspassing?. Like Riku, Ayumi also noticed Adine comforting this girl. Weird. I heard Adine wasn't really the type to comfort street kids...But that girl. She squinted her eyes to get a better look at the girl. I think... I've seen her in a book or something. Or at least a picture of her. I just can't remember where I saw her. Damnit, if only the lights were on. She looked around the room and saw Riku approaching a small group of people. Yuriku Riku let her gaze wander off, a group of milltiary personal were also discusing something. She could help but noticing the shortest one there. Looking away, she stopped walking and asked in a polite fashion " Um out of curiosity... May I have my map back.? Its very important that I have it back. I think someone named Adine took it from me." She waited ready for any kind of reply, and was determined to have get it back. She raised an eyebrow skeptically at this statement. Eh? A Map?! This kid didn't mention anything about a map. Could she have had a map of HQ? Or maybe I'm thinking to much into it. It could have just been a map of the city.

HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi He glanced to Havoc for a brief second, pain coming into his eyes as his mind flashed over the things he had been doing for the past four years. Havoc already regretting asking that question, but when the look of anguish washed over the youth's features, he felt even worse.
Fighting the urge to kick himself in the a**, Havoc cleared his throat, but said nothing further, sure he had said plenty as it was...HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi Deciding to keep it simple and clean, he shrugged. "Mainly I've been trying to figure out how to get back here. The odd thing is, now that I'm back here, I'm not completely sure how I got back. My head feels like it's got a layer of cotton in it. I don't know if it's after effects from travelling back from another world, or if it's just that I've not been getting enough sleep lately. I'm pretty sure that it's an after effect of the travelling though." Havoc scratched his head. What in the world...? He had no idea what the boy had just said.HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi Raising his eyebrows at the fact that someone mentioned that he was actually taller, he smiled a bit as he looked to Havoc. "You think?" Havoc grinned and scratched the back of his neck.
"Ah, actually, I'm trying to cut down..." he quipped, and Edward rolled his eyes. The older man clapped the youth on the shoulder. "Ah, but yeah, I do," he said honestly. "I mean, look atchya...you musta grown like...a whole foot since the last time I--"
He froze and his jaw fell open.
Oh, gods, he was in for it now...HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi Then his features went dark as a rather large vein popped out of his forehead and he popped Havoc up the back of his head with his human hand. "Are you saying that I was so short you couldn't see me with a magnifiying glass before I left!?" Havoc laughed out loud and deftly dodged the punch that Edward threw wildly at him.
"Hah~!" he whooped triumphantly as he grabbed the younger man's arm and pulled him off-balance, then landed a playful punch to his shoulder. "I'm not such a pushover now that I'm not a gimp anymore," he crowed, and did a little shuffle with his feet to prove his point.
He released Ed's arm and gave him a sidelong grin. His eyes narrowed wickedly.
"But you're still shorter than me..." he added as a wry afterthought, and dashed forward to avoid Edward's fist again.HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi He stepped forward and shot a glance to the others. "I recognize this feeling! There's a homunculi somewhere here, and it's near. Be careful!" Havoc felt his stomach lurch.
Homunculus?
He felt his knees begin to shake, his chest constrict.
Homunculus...??
Biting his tongue to try and maintain his composure, Havoc stopped in mind-stride to lean heavily on the wall.
It had been a homunculus that had attacked he and Roy all those years ago; a homunculus that had stabbed him through the abdomen and pierced his spine. It had been the homunculus Lust that had stolen Havoc's legs from him...rendering them utterly useless and nearly damning him to a life of paraplegia for the rest of his days.
Could he be forgiven a bit of panic at the mention of their presence? Nearly hyperventilating, he leaned his back against the wall and slid down some, squeezing his eyes shut.
He heard someone call out to him, but barely, and then felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up, wild-eyed, to see Mustang had taken to a knee in front of him, a worried look in his black eyes. Biting his tongue again, he raised a hand to salute his superior, then leaned his head back, feeling dizzy.
Goddammit! He hadn't had a panic attack in months! He looked at Edward, who seemed shocked at what had just happened, and then closed his eyes again. Why did I have to freak out in front of Taishou? he groaned inwardly.
After the accident, before he had regained use of his legs, Havoc had been plagued by horrific nightmares of his former girlfriend, Solaris...who had actually been the homunculus Lust...attacking him and slaying his comrades. He would awaken in a cold sweat, his heart pounding in his throat. It had come to the point where all someone had to do was mention anything about the homunculi to trigger another panic attack. Occasionally, they were so bad he lost consciousness.
But as time had gone on, and especially after Havoc had been treated and gotten back on his feet, the attacks had subsided. He hadn't had one in six months, at least. Gritting his teeth, he struggled to regulate his breathing, gripping the wall as the room spun around him.
Gods he felt foolish. And after he had been horsing around with Edward like that, acting as if everything were fine...he felt doubly foolish. He figured Edward must have thought he was a total pansy by this time...reacting as he had.
Chalk up another superior's loss of respect, he mused sourly, and momentarily managed to catch his breath, sliding completely to the floor in defeat.

Honoo no Renkinjutsushi He ocassionally glanced up at Riza, each time he caught her looking at him. Each time he met her eyes, he found himself wondering what she was thinking. He was doing it again... She could always tell when he was feeling guilty or hiding something from her, because every time she met his eye, he would quickly look away and pretend to be interested in something else. Like the ceiling.
stare Honoo no Renkinjutsushi Looking at her agian, he noticed a small smile tint her lips for an instant, however it disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. He gently reached out and touched her arm, feeling her jump a bit in the dark, he spoke softly, his voice at a low enough volume that only she could hear him. "Hawkeye-chuui, you weren't out of line at all. I apologize for what I did, it was out of line for me. Please forgive me." She jumped when she felt Roy's hand graze her elbow in the darkness, and held her breath a moment at the words that followed the contact.
Riza sighed silently at his voice, at what he said, and then reached over to squeeze his arm.
"Apology accepted, Sir," she whispered back, then giggled softly. "I shouldn't have scolded you that way, I know you hate it...but..."--she let out a gusty sigh--"you worry me sometimes. I'm afraid those wandering eyes of yours are going to make you lose your focus someday when it really counts... And then what would we do?" She smiled, though she figured he couldn't see it in the dark hall. "Though I suppose if I've put up with it for this long..." she added, and shook her head hopelessly. "You should know by now it would take an awful lot to really keep me angry with you..."
That was the truth, and she supposed he knew it anyway. They had known eachother far too long to argue over such things. She had been shaking her finger and chiding Roy about his bad habits since they were in the Academy together.
She supposed some things really would never change...Honoo no Renkinjutsushi He scoffed a bit when it was mentioned that he had enough of a hard time concentrating. It was true, but he would be damned sooner than he would admit it. Who could concentrate on paperwork? It was so boring. He'd rather clean the windows. ((BOL@ cleaning the windows! that was classic, junshou!!))Honoo no Renkinjutsushi The sound of movement from the far side of the lobby made a shiver go down his spine. He took an instinctive step infront of Riza. He would protect her with his life. Riza tensed when the sharp sound of high heels on the tile floor met her ears, and she felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
She'd know those footfalls anywhere. Adine--that tramp!--she was the one in the lobby waiting for them to come question the children. She had nearly forgotten that they were all walking right back into that black widow's web.
A low growl threatened to become audible in the back of her throat, and then she felt Roy move in front of her, and her anger melted. Was he...trying to shield her...?
"Sir," she whispered, an involuntary smile creeping over her face as she lifted her hand to take his arm and step around him, "I think it's just Adi--"
She stopped in the middle of the word and her fingers tightened around Roy's arm.
No, wait...there was something else. Something far more sinister than Adine's aura was thick in the air now. She could feel it, an almost tangible weight in the lobby, oozing into the hall like an oil slick down a river.
No mistaking it... This was--HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi "I recognize this feeling! There's a homunculi somewhere here, and it's near. Be careful!" Riza had drawn her gun before she even thought to do so, and she was rather confident Roy had his fingers poised to snap and toast anyone who approached. Listening intently as Adine's footsteps faded into the open lobby and beyond earshot, she whirled when she suddenly heard a thunk sound behind them, and was shocked to see that, in the candlelight, it was Havoc that had fallen against the wall, and apparently from no manner of external injury.
"Havoc?" she gasped, alarmed at the panicked look on his face.Lieutenant Havoc He heard someone call out to him, but barely, and then felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up, wild-eyed, to see Mustang had taken to a knee in front of him, a worried look in his black eyes. Biting his tongue again, he raised a hand to salute his superior, then leaned his head back, feeling dizzy. She watched Roy quickly kneel in front of the younger man, and shake his shoulder gently with one thick hand. Instinctively, she moved to stand in front of the both of them, her gun still ready in her hands, and her eyes sharp.
Havoc hadn't had an attack in a long time, as far as she knew. Though she had only witnessed one or two in the past, she knew from what Roy had told her that Havoc had been quite torn up by the entire ordeal with Solaris/Lust. A sour lump formed in the back of her throat at the thought that anyone could deceive poor, naive and impressionable Jean Havoc that way. She had always seen Havoc in a sibling-like light, and the idea that he had been so jilted--and gravely wounded--by someone he had opened his heart to had left her feeling rage she rarely experienced. Riza was fond of all the men in the brig. gen.'s squad, but something about Havoc, with his poor luck and flippant emotional tendencies, had always tugged at her heart strings.
The fact that he had been left scarred to the point of anxiety attacks...even after the paralysis had been rectified, had made made her big-sister tendencies all the stronger.
She spared a glance to Edward, and saw how surprised he looked at Havoc's state. She supposed Edward hadn't known of the nightmares...both sleeping and waking...that Havoc had endured in the time after the accident. She figured of course Jean hadn't divulged such a personal secret willingly...and Edward had never been around when anything like this had happened.
She waved her hand, and Edward glanced at her. She motioned for him to approach her, and he did. Riza closed her eyes.
"Don't think less of him, Edward-kun..." was all she said, and shook her head sadly.
All Riza could think was that it was lucky for Lust that Roy had slain her...because if Riza had gotten her hands on that b***h, she would have put her through a hell a thousand times worse than death ever could have offered...((er...some of you may be scratching your heads here... ah, i'm going by the manga storyline actually, not the anime, as i am sure most of you are more familiar with... if you're confused, go read manga chapters 37-40 and it will make more sense. i know in the anime lust's demise was different, but i preferred this one. it was much more dramatic and poignant, IMO. ^_^))

Hagane no Winry Light_Ashtoreth Ash rubbed her face into her sleeve, but growled as all it did was soak her face worse. She looked up towards the Central building then to the two behind her, "Yo! We're almost to dry land! Just beware of the fishes that try to swim beneath ya!" Winry managed a soft snort at that comment. Okay, so maybe this strange Ashtoreth girl wasn't so bad, after all... light_ashtoreth She turned her sights to the HQ doors and sighed, "Welcome to dry land. Realm of the alchemists and perverts alike. Keep an eye on your skirt." Winry's hands subconsciously slapped to the water-soaked fabric clinging to her thighs, as if the door may commit some offensive act toward her. She turned faintly pink at Ash's comment, and sweatdropped after a moment, a nervous chuckle escaping her lips.
"Eh, heh... yeah..."Alphonse laughed a bit nervously as he realized just how bad that comment had affected Winry. He saw the shade of colour on her face darken slightly in the absence of much light, and saw the motion to her leg. Now what did Ashtoreth say something like that? Are these State Alchemists that bad? I know they are "Dogs of the Military", but this makes them sound like a bunch who usually hang in a bar with far too much to look at around them.Hagane no Winry Light_Ashtoreth Ashtoreth entered the building, sighing as it seemed that the lights were still out. Switching to night vision, she quickly looked around for anyone. "Well, there's no one in the hall, maybe we should try the General..." she stopped, "oh hell, how do they expect me to remember those long titles, let's check Mustang's office." "Stay close behind, or I can't guarantee you won't hit anything." This time, Winry allowed her maternal instincts to take hold of Al's wrist. She tossed a hopeful glance over her shoulder at him, following close behind Ashtoreth as she walked. Her eyes lingered on the two dark figures conversing in low voices near the door.Al tried to follow what was going on, but there was suddenly too much happening to follow. He heard Ashtoreth move off ahead of him, and Winry kind of hesitate in her steps, then walk for a bit and apologise for something. There was also the sound of low voices around him, and his eyes were not making the adjustment well. Oh... how I wish I had a light source. I wonder if I can transmute a candle or something. He fumbled with his bag for a moment, then stopped. I better not do something like that here. After all, using alchemy in the entrance to Military HQ would be looked upon as a possible attack."Ash? Where are we going, exactly? I cannot see all that far; it's like the lights are out here."

If Ed isn't there... then this is going to become a search... and that's something I don't need" Her voice quieted slightly. Ash blinked slightly as she heard a couple more pairs of feet hit the ground then was in her little party. She turned, "Winry, Al, do you mind stopping for a moment?" When the duo didn't hit her, she smiled slightly before refocusing, "Hello? Who ever's out there, I would feel a bit better if you weren't hiding in the shadows, and if you decide not to, I will not be responsible for what happens." She gently coaxed out the power she had trasmuted from her first encounter with Al. The orb let out a dim light, but pulsed with power.

Kat was also surprised that they were being let go so easily. Even more surprised to see Adine and the other red-haired girl.
Riku asked for her map, and Kat noticed a look of shock on Ayumi's face. Why was it so surprising to her to hear about a map? Kat was beginning to notice that every little thing mentioned seemed to be a big deal.... what was going on?
Clutching the strap of her black bag, Kat looked at Riku and Ayumi.

What is she doing?
And... moreover, who was she talking to...?
She glanced around, and passed a confused glance over her shoulder to Al, mouthing "What is she doing?" to her childhood friend. This Ashtoreth girl just got stranger and stranger ... had she been like this when the boys knew her all those years ago?
She released her grip on Al's wrist, and shifted her toolbag on her shoulder. It made an odd squishing noise against the still-wet fabric of her jacket. At least it was a little bit warmer inside...

Riku noticed the odd looks, she had recieved when mentioning about the returning of the map. She stretched out her hands, and seemed unworried. "Its a map. Adine took it from me. I was wondering if I could have it back please?" she asked once more. Turning to point at Adine aross the room, with the other girl. There was no reply from Ayumi, as if she was debating the matter in her head whether to return it or not. She inched closer to the group, as if planning to take action herself if no one did. "Hey, Kat remember we need that map so we can head to our destinations. . . so let's get it back." offering a deal with her friend. Leaning forward, she heard a word that froze her. "Homunculi" Here ?! But why--? I forgot there doesn't need to be a reason ... for him ... Riku flinched, backing away visions of the green palm-tree haired Evny. Who are these people ? ... Stepping quickly away, not to be caught eavesdropping on them. She turned away and dashed back to Ayumi and Kat. The last word she heard was Adine's bittersweet voice saying "angel" to the other girl. Angel ? ... She would call a homeless kid 'angel' ? I thought she hated kids period.
