"I wouldn't know but I'll take your word on it." Destiny nipped Wildfire as she reached for an apple slice under the other mare's muzzle. Colonel smiled, "Now, now girls be nice."
Konoha looked at him awestuck. "Path, I'd...I'd be honored." It was her turn to be speachless, so she nuzzled him warmly.

Wildfire snorted tossing her head. "So once these guys are done how 'bout that race?"Gwen said with a grin. "You know I'm going to win."she said playfully bumping into Colonel.
"Really?"Path said with a sort of shy grin.

"Sure, but we'll just have to see about winning." He grinned and bumped her back.
"Really." Konoha grinned. "I'd love to, Path." She nuzzled him again, this time with more enthuasiam.

"Wildfire is named Wildfire for reason."Gwen said bumping him again, this one a bit more flirtatious. She walked over to Wildfire. "Ready my girl?"she murmured running her hand along the paint mare's neck.
"I've been thinking about asking you since last night."Path nickered nuzzling her back.

Colonel's grin widened. "Destiny is still a mustang, tame or not. And she's still got quite a bit of spunk in her." He joined Destiny and unbuckled the few items on her saddle. Dropping them to the ground he made the saddle as light as possible. "Now we're ready." He swung into the saddle and backed Destiny up.
Konoha whinnied happily. "I'm glad you asked. Though you could have asked sooner." She lightly bumped him with her muzzle.

"It took me all night to get up the courage."Path snorted nuzzling her.
Gwen had already lightened Wildfire's saddle as much as she could. She swung into the saddle and walked her over to where she was lined up with Destiny. "Come on my girl lets show 'em."she whispered in Wildfire's ear.

Nuzzeling him Konoha laughed. "It's that hard, huh?" She felt like she could jump for joy. She wanted to run around the pasture kicking up her heels and race Path, but she stood in place knowing the injury wouldn't allow her to do any such thing. "Do you think your Dam will approve?"
"Alright on the count of three. One...Two...Three." Destiny lept forward a half second or so early, Colonel made no move to check her only shrugged and clucked her on. The mare sped up to a gallop but had yet to fully strech out.

Kalypso did not calm down even after the gelding had backed away. Now that he was worked up, just the presense of the human kept him rigid and aggressive. His ear flickered to Eclipse when she whispered to him. Her voice was strained, but soothing. Even so, he continued to stand rigid. His knees started to tremble beneath him though out of the sheer force of trying to restrain himself. He shut his eyes tight and ground his teeth together. "Eclipse..I..can't.." The man obviously didn't understand his presense was not welcome and his rituals with the gelding were not wavering his view of him. Kalypso's muscles rippled and trembled beneath his skin and his knees continued to shake. Suddenly he froze, his eyes shot open, and all sense left him. He reared again and charged the man, completely unaware of what he was doing. He couldn't see Eclipse, Path, Konoha, the gelding, no one but the human he bore down upon.

Johnson never saw the stallion coming, the gelding however did. He neighed and pushed the man aside, useing his big bay body to protect his owner. The gelding stood fast, ears back and muscles locked. He was ready to take the full force of the charge and wouldn't fight back.

Kalypso continued charging, he was still unaware of his action. He saw the gelding puch the man inside, and anger flared in him. He sped up and his muscles flexed. Suddenly, he hit the gelding full force. Being descended from war horses and carriage-pullers, he had twice the muscle of most mustangs. The force of the impast knocked the gleding to the ground and also woke Kalypso out of his daze. He stood still, trembling, and shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. "What-What happened?" he said slowly.

Eclipse cantered after him more slowly, but then sped up and skidded to a stop at Kalypso and the gelding. She was just close enough to hear what he said. As calmly as she could she replied, "You told me you couldn't restrain yourself, and then you charged at the man, and knocked the horse down because he got in the way." She stared down at the gelding, not sure how he was holding up; she didn't really care that much, she was just amazed that he would do something like that for a man.

Johnson had scampered under the fence and to the other side, as soon as the gelding pushed him away. He watched in horror as the gelding fell. Still in full tack the gelding lie on his side, not one of his muscles moved untill he started breathing. Men around the Fort had seen Kalypso's charge and come running but Johnson waved them away. He stood and slowly climbed through the fence. With a glance to the stallion to make sure he wasn't visibly injured he went to his gelding. The bay had yet to try and stand but was breathing. Johnson knelt by his horse and unbluckled the girth and throwing the saddle off his back. Moving to the bay's head he talked softly as he undid the bridle and slid it off. He sat by the gelding's head and stroked his face, paying little attention to the other horses.

Wildfire galloped after Destiny easily catching up with her. Gwen leaned forward in the saddle urging her mare on.

"Realy? I don't see why. I thought my wandering would make me a bad choice." Her blue eyes sparkled and she tossed her mane, happily.
Colonel caught what Gwen was doing and followed suit. For the moment Destiny raced alongside Wildfire.

Wildfire slowly began to pull ahead. She stretched out fully.
