She chuckled. "I might consider it if it didn't seem like such an outright bore," she said, filling in a few squares of her crossword as she did so.

Remus gave a mock-sigh. "I suppose you're right. Without your guidance, I suppose I will just have to settle for being a teacher. How horribly dull," he lied. He loved teaching more than anything else in the whole world.

"Oh, you want to be a teacher?" Wendy asked, her eyes lighting up. "That's neat! What subject?"

Remus shrugged. "Defense Against the Dark Arts is my favorite, but I'm not picky as long as it isn't potions. If I were made Potions Master, you may as well just let me blow up the whole castle and eliminate the middleman."

Giggling, Wendy said, "Well, depending upon who was in the building at the time, that might not be such a dreadful idea. Except we'd have to find a way to get you out before the explosion, of course." She giggled at the idea before moving on: "I always liked Defense Against the Dark Arts, too, but wouldn't you be worried about the curse?" She knew he knew which curse she was talking about - all of the students did.

She shruggged. "I guess that's true." She stifled a yawn behind one of her hands, then smirked at Remus. "I think your - what did Sirius call it? - Mooniness is getting to me," she said.

Remus smiled warmly at Wendy. "Well, if you start nodding off -" he patted his shoulder, "- feel free to introduce yourself to Mister Makeshift-Pillow."

Sirius raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Remus really needed to be schooled in suave.

Remus sensed rather than saw Sirius's eyebrow raise. He looked at him with a death-glare that said don't you dare say a word.

Remus stuck his tongue out at Sirius stubbornly. He would not let Padfoot have the final word!...Or gesture! Whatever!

Wendy blushed and giggled. Those are two things you seem to have been doing throughout the time you've spent in this compartment, her mind noted. "Wow. It takes a real man to voluntarily offer himself up to be, ah, Mr. Makeshift-Pillow," she said with a smirk. "Very chivalrous."

"I favor Beater, actually," she replied without missing a beat. She gave a winning grin.
