Shenzi nodded in quiet agreement, turning herself to look over the rocky edge. It certainly was lovely. The teenager had never appreciated that sort of thing before, having grown up in new york and never really had seen how clear a sky could be. She remained silent though, as she couldn't think of anything to say.

It was plainly obvious to Joli that this girl knew the true purpose of the island, something she couldn't help but be glad about. "How did they lure you here?" she couldn't help but be curious, it was the journalist in her

Shenzi turned back to look at the reptile woman, before answering. "My parents sent me here for rehab. Heard it was some new place, and they were testing out new ways of breaking addictions, so they shipped me off a few days before my birthday." She said, ending her words with a face and a slight sour note.

"Your birthday... That is no fun... I can sympathize, my birthday was a few days ago... it was the second one I spent on this island" She looks up at the girl her tongue flickering "Not all that it's cracked up to be is it" there was a look of sadness in the Komodo's dark eyes

Shenzi snorted softly. "Yeah. So much for the almighty 18th birthday." She said dryly, wrapping her arms around her knees. She wanted to give Joli a hug to cheer her up, but wasn't sure if she'd appreciate it from a near stranger. The poor woman had been turned into a giant lizard, for chrissake. Shenzi felt sympathy for her, but wasn't quite sure what to do. "How'd you get dragged here?" She asked after a moment.

"Well technically I wasn't dragged here, I am... was... a photographic journalist back home... I got a tip that Vasille DiRossi was in this area of the world faking his death. So I rented a yacht, loaded it with my laptop, camera and a bunch of cds and software and film and other such things plus enough food to keep me going for a few weeks and headed out to sea... Well I found Vasille... and got tricked onto the isle with the promise of an exclusive of Vasille's big return movie" She pauses "so much for that... I got a scoop all right, but not one I'll ever be able to share with the world" she growls softly for a split second and then just rests her head on her front paw again

Shenzi frowned as Joli spoke. Vasille DiRossi. The name was familiar, and after a moment, it clicked. Some big actor, was really popular among the ditsier girls at her school, when she bothered to listen to them. So they even had a celebrity here? "He's here? What'd the doctors do to him?" She asked, her curiosity piqued, even as it warred with her sympathy for Joli.

"Huh, silver fox? That'd look pretty, I guess. Can't imagine it did much for his ego, after he got over it at least." Shenzi said, letting a small bit of laughter color her voice.

Shenzi grinned in response with that, laughing softly under her breath. "I try. Better then acting like a b***h about the stuff that's going on and taking it out on people who're being effected by it too."

Joliette was silent for a short time, then smiled softly "Not everyone thinks that way, thats why I said it... I've met some who did, wheter it was by choice, or influenced by the beast"

"Yeah, though some people are probably really bitter about it, or in denial or some s**t." She said, though she couldn't necassarily think of any examples of those in denial.

"You can say that, or theres the ones who fought or fight it... It's not easy to accept, I suppose I was an example of that, I fought the changes, I used to be vegan... Not anymore though... and it wasn't fun... Do you know what you are becoming?" She eyes the girl's odd changes

Shenzi winced in sympathy as she mentioned being a vegan. "Yeesh, that must really suck, though that's probably a major understatement. I never was a vegetarian or anything, so I don't really need to worry about that at least." At her question, though, she wrinkled her nose. "Oh jeez... A gryphon." The czech said dryly, rolling her eyes. "Dr. Duvert certainly seems to be creative, to say the least."
