Hawaii. eek

Hawt. I was just looking up Hawaii U. the other day just for kicks. It's interesting to see the schooling system there because of the environment.

But that's awesome.

~*~Personal~*~
Name (Or something other than Gaia nickname?):
Countess will do.

Birthday:
May (Taurus)

Country your currently residing in:
USA. Born and raised.

Is there anyone special in your life? (And I don't mean your mother.):
I'm single, but I have wonderful friends.

Siblings?:
I have one brother, younger. He's 20.

Pets?:
Not currently. But I love cats and dogs and I used to raise tropical fish.

Mentor?:
Various fine professors.

Religion?:
Unitarian Universalist

~*~Pro-Life~*~
Why are you Pro-Life? (Were you adopted, know anyone who had an abortion, etc.):
Perhaps my personal reason for seeing things from the fetus's side is my mother. My mother used abortion as birth control. I was the first one that she decided to keep, and she almost aborted my brother.

What about physical health to the mother?:
In cases of health emergency, abortion should remain legal. Also in other circumstances, such as a case of twin-to-twin transfusion in which the only way to save one fetus is to abort the other.

Rape?:
I see both sides of this argument. I am a rape survivor. I took a pregnancy test, and I was not pregnant, but I never would have had an abortion if I had been. I don't see how a person could ever abort unless it was medically necessary or unless the fetus was miserably terminally ill.

Views on the Death Penalty?:
It is not delivered fairly in the USA, and therefore I cannot support it. I do, however, believe there are some crimes worthy of the punishment.

Are you vegetarian?:
No.

Vegan?:
Nope.

Are there another ways you're pro-life?:
I don't know if I like the label. I just see life as the fundamental right.

~*~Pro-Life~*~
Why are you Pro-Life? (Were you adopted, know anyone who had an abortion, etc.): I don't feel there is a justification for ending a life that was created through your own selfishness/irresponsibility.
What about physical health to the mother?: Only if there were no other options and the mother for sure wouldn't die if the baby was aborted.
Rape?: Depends on age and the mentality of the mother.
Views on the Death Penalty?: I'm iffy on this one.
Are you vegetarian?: No
Vegan?: No
Are there another ways you're pro-life?: I'm not sure I understand the question. I work in the veterinary field. It saves lives. If that is the point of the question.

~*~Personal~*~
Name (Or something other than Gaia nickname?): Fan, affectionately known as FannyChan.
Birthday: 7/5/87
Country your currently residing in: USA (Steubenville, OH, wheee)
Is there anyone special in your life? (And I don't mean your mother.): There is, a very Catholic young man in the US Army Cavalry unit. He's seen Iraq five times now. Please pray for him.
Siblings?: Two in heaven, my own personal prayer warriors.
Pets?: Three indoor cats, Tootsie, Snickers, and O'Henry, a Beta fish, Rufus, and I've sort of adopted a little stray kitty that includes our porch in her territory.
Mentor?: I've had a lot of mentors in my life, for various things - art, teaching, horse-back riding, martial arts. But when it comes to the pro-life movement and values and all of that, my dad has been my biggest mentor.
Religion?: Roman Catholic, and proud of it.
Favorite Quote: "You can't tell me what I believe is wrong." "If you didn't believe in gravity, you'd still fall to your death by jumping off of a building. Ergo your belief would be wrong."
Favorite Band: Favorite? Favorite...um...I don't really have a favorite. I like certain songs from lots of different bands. Now, my favorite current composer would have to be Nobuo Uematsu.
Favorite Movie: One of Miyazaki's films. I'll never be able to pick. It'd come down to Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and Whisper of the Heart.

~*~Pro-Life~*~
Why are you Pro-Life? (Were you adopted, know anyone who had an abortion, etc.): I was Pro-Life from the moment I learned about abortion. I learned very young that I'd had a sister who died before I was born, and the thought of someone choosing to deny their future children an older sibling was a horrifying thought to me. When I was older, in highschool, I learned the sad truth that my mother had had an abortion before marrying my dad. Not only that fact, but to see how my mother suffered with the fact that she'd killed her son without so much as a second thought (she thought my sister's death was God punishing her for the abortion, and felt that way for a long time until we finally found a Rachel's Vineyard), sealed my feelings about abortion.
What about physical health to the mother?: The whole point of being Pro-Life is that we don't have the right to choose who lives and who dies. That's not our right. To make an exception and say that the mother's life is more important than the child's is to revoke your position as Pro-Life. That's just Pro-Some-Life.
Rape?: The chances of a woman becoming pregnant during rape are phenomenally low. The woman's body does everything it can to keep the sperm from reaching the ovaries. So when on the rare chance that it does happen, it's even more a miracle than a regular pregnancy. That baby is the good that God created out of something bad. Not only that, but that little baby had nothing to do with the rape, and no one has the right to take away it's life because of it.
Views on the Death Penalty?: I follow the Church's teaching on the DP because I think it makes sense. The DP is only called for when there is no way to hold the convict securely, when it would be unsafe to the rest of society to keep the convict alive. The DP is not a tool for revenge. It should be avoided at all costs, so that the convict has ample opportunity to have a change of heart and repent. By the way, it's more expensive to kill them than it is to jail them for the rest of their lives. Appeals are expensive things.
Are you vegetarian?: Actually, my dad's nickname for me at mealtime is carnivore.
Vegan?: I never did learn the difference between those two.
Are there any other ways you're pro-life?: I don't think assisted suicide is right. Our lives are not our own. We didn't choose to be given life, and we can't choose to take it away. Similarly, no one has the right to help us take it away. People justify it because the patients are usually in a great deal of pain, but I say that pain is a part of life. So long as you are alive, God can put that pain to work for the sake of others. The saying "Offer it up" comes to mind. Offer God that pain as a sacrifice for the sake of your family, for prostitutes, for our President, for the souls in Purgatory, whatever you want. Not only that, but so long as you're alive, you have the chance to smile, to laugh, to cry, to make others do the same. It just isn't worth it.

Other random facts...

I was born in Alaska, lived in Arizona, Japan, and Maryland before moving here to Ohio.

I've been to about forty of the fifty states in some way or another, including a two-week military-paid vacation to Hawaii.

I've seen the Everglades, Niagara Falls, the Las Vegas Strip, the Grand Canyon, Skyline Drive, Route 66, the Golden Gate Bridge, Tokyo Tower, white sand beaches, and Pearl Harbor. Among many other things.

I modelled snow-suits when I was five in Tokyo for Japanese tv. In a warehouse in July without air conditioning. It was one of the neatest experiences in my life.

I teach two art classes, a basic drawing class and a manga class. I'm writing a novel series, three or four stand-alone novels, three video game scripts, and somewhere around four or five graphic novels (drawing for the last two as well).

I'm crazy about anime, go to Otakon in Baltimore, MD every year for five years now, and play video games whenever I get bored of drawing and writing. I'm also an avid storyline roleplayer (two-person story-writing, not to be confused with DnD), and that's actually how I got into writing and drawing.

I think that'll do xD I love going overboard. It's fun.

~*~Pro-Life~*~
Why are you Pro-Life? (Were you adopted, know anyone who had an abortion, etc.): Yes to both. My mother gave me up for adoption when I was in 4th grade. I went to live with a family clear across the US, whom we had lived across the street from when I was born. Hence the step-siblings mentioned earlier. I am the one who had an abortion as Rhia stated in her bio.
What about physical health to the mother?: For this question and the next 2, you can pretty much assign Rhia's answers to mine. She is after all my daughter and I hope some of what she has strong convictions about, she learned from her father and I.
Rape?: see above
Views on the Death Penalty?: see above
Are you vegetarian?: Not by a long shot.
Vegan?: Not in any way, shape or form.
Are there other ways you're pro-life?: I am a member of the Silent No More awareness campaign and may be speaking this summer at a college here in OH about my abortion experience. I am out there on the street every Respect Life Sunday holding my sign showing I had an abortion and I regret it.

Welcome Shanra!

Also, guys, I love your views on the Death Penalty. Not a lot of people realize it DOES take more money to execute them. 3nodding

Aw, thanks, McPhee ^-^ I think people are so bent on the death penalty as being the ultimate punishment, but so many dangerous convicts are twisted enough not to fear death, or would even prefer it to life in prison.

~*~Pro-Life~*~
Why are you Pro-Life? (Were you adopted, know anyone who had an abortion, etc.): I hate abortion. I've always known it was murder. I hate how lightly people take abortion.

What about physical health to the mother?: Instead of taking the easy way out, why not try to save BOTH lives. The woman wants her baby, but for whatever reason cannot have it. I cannot think of a group that is researching on how to save both the mother and the child's life.

Rape?: I think the woman should not kill her baby no matter what. I have this..interesting idea for raped minors, but that will be for a later topic (and the baby will still live. I'll never support abortion for ANYTHING).

Views on the Death Penalty?: I am against it. It's revenge not justice. In today's society we teach our children to solve our probelms in peaceful non-violent ways...but the nation solves problems with killing. It's wrong.

Are you vegetarian?:no.

Vegan?:no

Is there anyone special in your life? (And I don't mean your mother.): Sort of... complex/depressing matter. >.<
Siblings?: Yes, annoyingly on at least one count. xD
Pets?: The stupidest dog in the world. Technically she's my sister's. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate dogs in general; I quite like them. But this particular one just ... >.<
Mentor?: Hmm, directly no one physically at the moment; I prefer comeradery with my friends rather than such a hierarchy. Historically, though I take a lot of my inspiration from the likes of Confucius and Karl Marx
Religion?: Spiritualist, not really into organized religion per se.
Favorite Quote: " It is the way of the superior man to prefer the concealment of his virtue, while it daily becomes more illustrious, and it is the way of the mean man to seek notoriety, while he daily goes more and more to ruin. It is characteristic of the superior man, appearing insipid, yet never to produce satiety; while showing a simple negligence, yet to have his accomplishments recognized; while seemingly plain, yet to be discriminating. He knows how what is distant lies in what is near. He knows where the wind proceeds from. He knows how what is minute becomes manifested. Such a one, we may be sure, will enter into virtue." ~Confucius
Favorite Band: Get back to me on this; such a hard decisions, and it changes a lot. xD
Favorite Movie: See above

~*~Pro-Life~*~
Why are you Pro-Life? (Were you adopted, know anyone who had an abortion, etc.): Well, my mother was adopted, so there's that. Then the Confucian teaching of valuing all human life. And the Marxist argument that abortion is a population control tool to oppress the working class. A combination of the three. Generally I just argue from the last, since it seems to go the furthest.
What about physical health to the mother?: This is one exception I take
Rape?: Ditto
Views on the Death Penalty?: For it only in cases of murder and/or rape/mutilation. Possibly high treason as well, depending on the circumstances.
Are you vegetarian?: Not per se. I eat a lot of seafood; I don't really like the "meatier" meats as much, but I'll eat them occasionally
Vegan?: -Gasp- And give up sushi? Gods no!
Are there another ways you're pro-life?: Well, like I said, as a Confucian/Marxist, I value all human life; as such, I oppose the acts of the capitalists to oppress the proletariat
