Old English came from the Germanic/Gothic languages.
The insertion of Latin words and ideas was the thing that allowed English to modernize. 3nodding

Ouch, I hath forgotten to erase that "it seems that".

Happens to me often when writing, I forget to erase things that I edited out, one of the reasons I like to rewrite things when doing edits.
