Tohru's eyes widened, and she went pale. 'What is he doing here?! I thought for sure he had left and returned home? What am I going to do?' she thought panicked.
She looked to her other sisters and swallowed. She couldn't make a fool of herself in front of Tora and Hara!
She stood up and bowed saying, "Good evening, I am the maiko Foxchan Tohru, I humbly beg your indulgence." During the last part she blushed slightly wondering how he would respond.

Tora noticed the scared, frantic look on Tohrus face as she glaced her way. "What's going on?" she asked herself. "She's never been this way before." Tora shrugged the feeling aside and bowed to the patron who'd just walked in. "Good evening, sir," she smiled, "My name is Tora. Please, have a seat," she motioned.

Haruki bowed to Tora and sat down next to Tohru. He was surprised by how uncomfortable she looked. He felt a twinge of anger from how she was still acting. He wasn't there to hurt her. As annoyed as he was, he still wanted to tell her that he loved her and wanted her for his wife.
"Thank you, Tora-san. I am Haruki. I've never been able to come to a teahouse before, so please excuse me if my behavior seems strange."

Tohru took in a deep breath and regained her composure. 'I'll just pretend that he's like another patron,'.
"Would you like some tea, Haruki-san?" she asked, lifting the pot.

"That's quite alright, Haruki-san," Tora smiled. She was amazed at how cold Tohru was being. "Tohru-chan, I need to speek to you, please. Follow me." Tora stood and bowed to Haruki and excused herself. She walked out onto the front porch and waited for Tohru.

Tohru inwardly groaned. How in the world was she going to explain this to Tora-onee-sama?
'Just tell her the truth, that will make it easier.' she thought shaking a little.
When she reached the porched she bowed deeply and said, "Tora-onee-sama, please excuse me. I know Haruki from my home...he was the man I was betrothed to. He met me in the cherry blossom garden, and I didn't think he'd follow me here."

Haruki watched as Tohru followed behind the geisha. His anger waned a little and he felt a little angry with himself. It seemed he had gotten Tohru into some kind of trouble. That was never his intention. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair, wondering if coming here was a big mistake afterall.

Tohru snapped up waving her hands. "No, Onee-sama, not like that! I was sitting underneath a tree, and he approached me."

"No, no, that's not what I ment," Tora replied with a giggle. She sat beside her sister. "What's this about you being betrothed? And you not thinking he'd follow you here?" she asked confused.

Tohru sighed sadly looking at her sister. "I am the daughter of Foxchan Yuki, the wealthy merchant from the south. Haruki is ths son of Kitsan Keitaro, a wealthy merchant that always competed with my father. Since I am the only child and a daughter, my father sought to increase his business and wealth by marrying me off to Haruki. They made an agreement that when I reached 17, I would marry Haruki - that's how I was betrothed. But I ran away to follow my dream to be a geisha."
She sighed looking up to the skies. "I didn't think anyone from home would be able to find me. And I made Haruki angry in the garden becaue I accused him of working with my father to force me to come home. But instead...here he is...it's all so confusing."

Tora sat in silence, listning to Tohru's story. She was in shock. "I- I never knew," she said, wide-eyed. Tora shook her head, smiled, and wraped an arm around her sister. "What was his reason for searching for you?" she asked.

Tohru put her head on her sister's shoulder, feeling strange actually revealing some of her past. Quietly she said, "All he told me was that he wanted to see me..."
