As far as marketing.....the safest thing to do is vend...catch a misprice (which can be far more problematic than it sounds) or at least catch something listed for less than it's worth and sell it for what it's worth, or just below to make a small profit. It's safest, because it keeps your gold in play instead of tying it all up....plus, we never know when or what gaia will release next.
I had JUST bought my last Demon Cat--the most expensive one--when they were 1.5Million---and within a couple of days they were re-released as a prize and dropped 1.2Million in price. (Yeah THAT hurt.

Right now, the camp items are selling VERY quickly, so try to catch something several hundred below avg. or 1k or so--and resell it--it'll sell quickly for steady profit.
Study the market for a while--you'll start to get a "feel" for it after a couple of days....and you'll recognize deals vs things you should just less pass. There's NO substitute for experience, just GET some!
heart Personally, I still love inks. The were the very first thing I ever really vended, and I still do! I've recognized people who are 100's of times "richer" than I am, vending inks too...they're one of the more stable items--and there are ALWAYS people willing to list them for far below what they're worth. If you can catch them significantly below their avg mp price--SNATCH them....ESPECIALLY reds, greens and blues--which can be used to make whites.
RIGHT now, reds are in HIGH demand.
