Has anyone seen a good chunk of D-Gray Man? I only saw the first ep but it seems good.

I think Proto has.

I agree with Nacho up to the point where he says both games are good. That's where my opinion differs. XP

I would consider the Flood more like a virus/infection that colonizes it's host((like a parasite)) but eventually over-takes the host and makes it become part of the colony ((Virus/Infectiong/Borg)).

I kinda meant someone that has time to actually talk.

Hey... since Konoha is the only village using Proto's Skeletons, shouldn't we add the Guild Profile Template there for everyone who isn't joining that village? I'm just saying... I still have the Real Guild Profile Template so I can post it as such if nobody else has it/wants to post it. ninja

I have only read the manga, but I've gotten some feedback from my brother who has only watched the anime.

From what I understand in our conversations together, it seems to be a decent anime as far as adaptations go. Yes, it still falls prey to some lack luster padding techniques, but it also contains a few decent filler episodes. It also contains some noteworthy songs in its soundtrack. However, a big strike against the anime (according to my brother) is how it ends. It cuts off after a certain arc in the manga, and then it leaves the series on a cliffhanger. Probably for the event that the anime might be continued in the distant future. With this in mind, you're probably better off jumping straight into the manga (unless you prefer your action animated).

@Kouri: Bros for life. :
)
And I love Uncle Punpuuuun. His girlfriend not so much.
I think the female characters in this manga are pretty interesting too. Midori creeped me out, and the things she did with Punpun were so not cool. :/ But she made for some pretty powerful scenes, imo.

Same with Aiko, but I feel more sympathetic towards her than I do towards Midori. Jesus, Aiko's mom... I don't know if I want those two together, but Punpun seems to still be really attached to her after all those years, so idk.

I really like the author's art, especially when it comes to facial expressions (they're pretty memorable) or some of the weird cracky things he adds to his manga like his interpretation of God in Oyasumi Punpun, or some of Punpun's transformations whenever he goes through a mood shift.

@Rachel: I was under the impression that anyone regardless of village affiliation could use it, but for Konoha's villagers it's a requirement. As for the guild-wide profile template, it's not like it disappeared. It's still in the game system forum, which most newbies to the guild should jump straight into reading when they join. But you're probably right about having the main one posted in the shinobi directory. Or having some kind of Subforum Purpose thread created with a link to main template so people don't get the wrong idea.

I like to read and watch to compare similarities and differences. But I saw the first episode on youtube after finding an image of a character that I used for a roleplay character. So I thought I would check it out. I will probably start reading soon. (:

What game consoles are we talking here? And what genre of games are you normally into?

As for D.gray-man, I think it is worth the read. One of the things I like about the manga is the character cast. Whenever I'm reading shounen I usually have a female character that I don't particularly like (too bland, too moe, too shallow, etc.) but that's not the case with D.gray-man. The girls' sole existence in the manga isn't to be a love interest, or to be death/drama fodder (well, the main female characters anyway), and they have their own motives for being where they are in the plot. The villains have a great dynamic amongst each other, and even the protagonists so it's always fun to watch them. It also helps my case when they have a significant fanbase going for them (I'm looking at you Tyki and 14th).

Action-wise, I think it could be better. Some powers or enemies you'll encounter seem to lose relevance as the plot goes on, or they'll get 'upgraded', but nothing seems to change much aside from the design. You might look back on some old battles and go 'what was the point of that'? Though, this tends to be a common case in shounen manga (Remember when Bleach was about getting rid of hollows? Or how about when the sharingan was about copying?), so idk if you'll find that to be a good thing or a bad thing. Still, a lot of the fights are pretty entertaining to watch (like Lenalee's fight against the level 3, or Allen's first encounter against Rhode) regardless of whether it had a point or not.

I have Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I lean more toward RPGs. Not a huge fan of FPS but I do enjoy the multiplayer side of them.

So you are saying that all of the characters are very involved? Unlike most anime/mangas who have minor characters that become useless and/or fade away for some reason? Hm.. yeah evolution throughout stories sometimes leaves key details in the dust. The writers get carried away just so their legacies don't die.

Aside from the subject.. I noticed you have the same birthday as me. surprised

SO EXCITED.

For pre ordering/reserving at Gamestop they were giving away a collectable glass. But I never got into the series. I played the first for all of about 20 min. Couldn't really get into it.

First game is hard hard to get into... but ACII, and Brotherhood are fun!
