Jaycorn I JUST THINK THE PEOPLE DESERVE TO MAKE A PROFIT They already recouped the costs from the original release of the game. I'm pretty sure this is how Steam sales work, as well. The people who really wanted Game X already bought it when it was $50, so dropping the price to <$10 means they get a bunch of sales from people who were considering the game, but couldn't justify the normal price. Even more profit!

Even more profit! Well it doesn't have to be 50$, that's for sure. <$10 is great, but 99 cents just seems like not enough? I don't know who the money even goes to.

I don't know who the money even goes to. 99 cents makes it a really easy impulse buy for most people. There are plenty of games that aren't worth retail price, but I can't think of too many games where a dollar would have been overpriced. And if you feel a game is worth more, you're always free to buy several copies. Carpe Fulgur made a blog post way back about Recettear selling 100k copies. They mentioned that a big part of that was it being part of a Steam pack, so some of the money does go back to the developers. I would assume that the Nintendo eShop works in a similar way, with a portion of each sale going to the developers. Although we're talking about a Mario game here, so Nintendo probably keeps all of the money.

It's weird to hear that 6 percent of the people who ever lived are alive now.
