I certainly didn't get that kind of vibe from that character. I think in cases like this, the will of the majority aka. the general vibe of guildmember personalities goes. If too many people don't find this offensive, then it's fine. (If annoying, well, this is the chatterbox... >.>) If offended, well... And even if he could Kakashi would see the super slow attack coming and simply spot dodge. Then he'd use the sharingan to show Gai his moves and Falcon Punch back.
