Lori half-smiled. So the dog wasn't invited. It was exactly what he thought, as if Luca's awkwardness wasn't enough of a sign.
"I'd like that," he said and stroked Luca's waist. He had never once in his life made a date to have sex, but this was different. This was an invitation to take another big step in their relationship, and on a holiday nonetheless.

Oh, so Lori was interested after all. He probably shouldn't have been surprised. He leaned against him, eyes veering to the television. "I love you."

So, presumably, they wouldn't be having sex in the next week or so. That made things a lot easier, didn't it? His smile turned to a grin and he craned his neck and put his fingertips to Luca's chin to steal a kiss.
"I love you too." And his expression was so warm it would be hard to disbelieve.

Lori had the next day off as well, and Luca and he had done a number on his gift of chocolate, so today he had another gift himself; cupcakes from a bakery two towns over that had won some television cooking show he didn't watch. Either way they were his favorite, and he arrived at the apartment building and was let in by a young couple leaving. He smiled and nodded and headed up.
"Hello?" he asked, but when there came no answer he tried the door.

The door was unlocked, Luca was home. The elf never locked the door when he was. There was singing coming from the small kitchen, he'd busied himself with cleaning.

Singing? Did Luca have the radio on? Rather than call for the man, he crept in. No. No, that was definitely Luca. He closed the door quietly and shuffled off to the kitchen, only making his footsteps audible near the door frame to keep from startling Luca. He peeked in with a broad grin across his lips.
Luca sang?

Luca looked up, setting his cloth down. Noise? Had someone come inside? He stopped singing abruptly, noticing Lori. "I was cleaning," he explained, pointing to the stove. It had gathered dust from disuse, but now it was gleaming.

"Yeah," Luca said, "Its a hobby of mine." He shrugged, tossing the cloth he'd been using into the sink. He planted a kiss on Lori's cheek. "You have the day off?"

He was still not interested in anything else, no matter how hard Luca wanted to change the subject.
"Have you taken lessons or something?" He looped his arms around Luca and pulled him close.

Luca noticed the cupcakes! He took them from Lori, set them on the counter and took one. He took a bite, chewed, swallowed and said, "Yeah, when I was a kid."

"You're really good," Lori said, letting him take the cupcakes and eat. It didn't mean he was going to pester him any less. "Your idea or your parents' idea?" Singing wasn't unusual among wood elves, but he hadn't spent all too much time in a settlement. Some people did, some people didn't, just like in the raths.
"That's cookies and cream. Filled one, you like it?" Luca might think he had won, but he had not. Not in Luca's mind.

"Parents," Luca said, taking another bite. Lori was certainly insistent on the topic, wasn't he? "Its really good!" He smiled at Lori. The best cupcake he'd ever had. He wiped at the frosting now on his cheek.

Lori kissed the frosting from Luca's cheek and swiped it with a finger.
"Will you sing for me after you eat?" He was still grinning.

Luca froze. Sing for Lori? He hadn't sung in front of others since he'd been a child and his parents had requested it. "Erm. No, I think sugar affects vocal chords negatively, actually."
