((Lekkre slaap!))

Altan moved forward and pressed his head against Kilala's in a gesture of comfort. Never, he said, and his voice was strong and soothing. If you were a failure, you would not be here. Failures would not have stuck by their partner's side as steadfastly as you. Even if you cannot help, being there... it is more than you think. He licked the top of her head like he would to groom her, perhaps the equivalent of a hug for those without arms. You did what you could, Kilala, and that is all that can be asked for. He looked at her with his wise, golden eyes--and they were wise, for he was a Sphinx. Intelligent, wise, and vain: these are the trademarks of a Sphinx.

Kilala smiled and snuggled back, her twin tails waving gracefully. She trusted Altan and deep down knew he was right, but she couldn't help feeling well, helpless regardless. Though the comfort helped greatly.

"I suppose your right...I just wish she'll be ok, but staying in that form for so long...I'm worried something will be terribily wrong..." she admitted softly, sneaking glances at her master's sleeping form.

Ares took longer than he had expected to get to a point that he could contact Evermore though her dreams. He'd had things to take care of when he returned to Olympus--despite how he could easily spend much time on Earth without much to worry for, he was still a god, and he still had to attend to certain things with the world and other gods. He had to ensure that the Olympian gods would, at the next Meeting, start talk of allying with other gods--perhaps Sumerian or Japanese or Hindu. He knew it was unlikely that anyone would be exactly eager to ally with the Norse gods because of the history they had, but he had to try. Usually, since he was God of War, they would trust his judgement--if Athena's opinion was agreable, definitely. But if Athena said no, then no it would be. He'd have to convince Athena soon, in other words.

But first... Evermore. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to say, as he'd forgotten in the midst of setting notes up for himself while he waited for Evermore to fall asleep (giving plenty of time). She'd know, he thought. Either she'd know, or he'd remember when he saw her.

Ares laid down on his fur-covered bed, closed his eyes, and found Evermore's life-strand. He entered her dreamworld, one belonging solely to her that activated only when her mind was sleeping. He wondered what it would look like... he would only see it when she, well, 'recognized' him.

Hey, he greeted, waiting for the recognition phase.

Altan sighed lightly, but he couldn't place exactly why: all he knew for sure was that it wasn't because Kilala was silly or because he was tired. He purred slightly. All will be as it must. If something goes wrong, there will be a reason... however unclear, the reason will exist. Oftentimes, the current wrong is what enables the future right.

Ever was in her dream world. She was standing on a high mountain with clouds surrounding it. There were trees and a waterfall nearby that fell into a river. In the middle of that river was a large lake before the river thinned out again and fell over the edge of the mountain. This was always relaxing to her. With her goddess powers, she was able to control, for the most part, where she went when she slept. She also usually had complete consciousness in her dreams as if she were awake.

When she heard his voice, Ever smiled softly and turned around to look at him.

"Hi, Ares. I'm glad you made it."

Tyler woke up with his eyes blurry and his head throbbing. He looked up to see an unfamiliar setting, and none of the creatures from before were there. And neither was Nikolaus. Abruptly Tyler got up and jumped to his feet with a fierce expression. "Nikolaus you b*****d! Come out and face me like a real man!" His face was taut, until he heard a slight giggle from a female. When he turned he saw Sammy was standing there laughing at him. Even now she was so much herself. Suddenly he reached out a grabbed her into a fierce hug, not letting go for several long minutes. "Oh Sam your all right! Wait, where did that coward run off to? I see Dad's not here taking care of his own mess."

Sammy hugged him back tightly and her eyes welled up with moisture. "You stupid idiot you could have gotten gravely injured or even worse! Promise me you won't ever leap into danger like that ever again." She looked up at him with desperation in her eyes, needing that promise from him more than anything. Tyler smiled at her, and nodded his head.

"I promise."

Nik was now in more of a trot as he approached the area of where his children were. When he came around a tree, he saw the both of them together. On this side of the border. He was running now, desperate to see them. This would be the first time Nik would properly greet his children as his true self. "I am the real person, no matter what that girl says. She's only childish and angry I took her crush away. Yeah, that's it." First he grabbed Sam in a bear hug, the opened his arm for Tyler to join, but he merely stood there with an annoyed expression. "Come on son, he's gone now. You can show a little emotion." Tyler's eyes were of disbelief, but they were also relieved. Being possessed left him slightly disturbed, and that alone allowed him to cave slightly and give his father and sister an embrace. More so to Sam though than anything.

Ares sat down near the lake, making himself comfortable. However, since it wasn't really his dream... He technically wasn't there. It was just a mental projection from himself to her mind. Nice place, he commented. ...Look, Pepper... He wasn't sure why he was using that pet name now, when he didn't feel like they should get 'back together' just yet, but oh well. I don't really regret anything that happened. Just the way it did bothers me, but I don't want to change it yet. He hoped she would agree.

Somehow, knowing Evermore, she was more likely to disagree with him, but he wasn't completely 'fixed' yet. He, in that somewhat comatose state he'd gone into, had accepted Amaryllis' death... but the wound was fresh now. He needed time to get over her again--or, maybe, to get over her for the first time. He needed to do it right, and he couldn't do that when he was with Evermore. At the same time, he couldn't truly be with Evermore before he got over his first love. He'd tried to do such a thing long ago with Aphrodite and it just hadn't worked.

Ever smiled softly when Ares called her Pepper. She had missed that, and she hadn't even realized she had until she heard him call her it.

She slowly walked over and sat down on a rock near the place Ares was sitting. She looked over the lake for a few moments before she turned her head to look at Ares.

"I understand, and I respect your decision. I... I think I want to be with you, but I guess we both have a lot we have to accomplish before we can get back together, IF we do get back together. I don't even know if we were together in the first place. And I'm so young. How do I know if what I want right now is what I'm going to want years from now? My feelings could change..."

She winced slightly and shook her head as she looked down at her lap. "That came out wrong. I don't think that my feelings for you would change. But I don't know if, at my age, I'm capable of having a serious relationship."

Ares just shrugged. He wasn't really one for feelings that weren't aggression, so he didn't have much to add when she talked about emotions. Ares was very much a guy in that manner--not that he didn't act like your stereotypical testosterone-filled male in the first place. He sighed lightly. That's why thigs might be good for a while. 'Sides, there's a war now. We've got more important things to worry about than... whatever the hell you wanna classify this as. 'This' being their (non)relationship.

It seemed, to Ares, that they at least agreed, basically, on everything. That was good. Easy, too.

Ever nodded, completely agreeing. "I completely agree. Yesterday, I wanted to be with you so badly. Today, after what happened with that Nikolaus guy, and after hearing what you said, I just realize that it's all so trivial right now. It's like, wow, we so shouldn't be focusing on what are feelings are when we could be dead in a month!"

Before she could finish, a little blue light appeared out of the lake and zoomed over to bob in front of Ever's face. Ever's eyes widened and then she looked at the light in amazement.

"Raven! How did you get here?!"

Raven talked in a high-pitched voice. "I am your familiar, Evermore! I'm connect to you! Of course I could go inside of your dream, especially when I'm lying on your shoulder in reality right now."

She started to bob faster. "If you're as committed to this war as you say you are, then why are you still planning on being away from Bai Ching for so long?! Have you even told Ares what is going on?!"

Ever's eyes widened and she started to shake her head. "Raven! This is none of your business!"

Ares watched Raven curiously, and raised an eyebrow at what she said--something that Evermore obviously wanted to keep secret. He frowned; it didn't sound like something he wanted to hear. ...What're you not telling me, Pep? he asked suspisciously.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 09, 2010 2:30 pm

Ever scowled at Raven when she heard Ares' question. "I thought you didn't like Ares and the rest of the gods, Raven!"

Raven sighed. "I don't. But maybe if Ares knew what you were planning on doing, he'd be able to convince you to stay."

Ever sighed in exasperation and stood up. "It's not that big of deal! I can teleport pretty well now, so I can come back whenever I'm needed! I already told you all of this, Raven!"

She sighed again and spun around to look at Ares. She gestured slightly with her hands as she spoke, trying to get her point across. "Look, I sent out an application this past summer for something I've wanted to do for a year now! I don't know if you know this or not, but I love to dance, and I'm actually pretty good at it. I mean, hell, I balance on the staircase beams all the time and jump from floor to floor! I did it the first day of school this year, actually! I'm flexible and have worked hard to become a good dancer. I love it."

She went over to Ares and knelt down in front of him. She rested her hands on his knees. She really hoped she could get him to understand. If she didn't, he'd tell Zeus and she'd be royally screwed.

"Also, when my mothers were introducing me to different things about this planet and the human race, they showed me different aspects of pop culture. I loved the music lessons. My favorite band that they played for me... was The Backstreet Boys. I still listen to them all the time and last year, I found out they were getting ready to go on tour again this year. They were looking for dancers, among other things, and so I auditioned. It was a multi-layer process and I had to audition several times."

She smiled up at Ares brightly. "I got the call earlier today... Ares, I got in! I made it! I get to tour with them over Christmas and a couple of months after that! It's a worldwide tour and they might use me again for future tours! How awesome is that?!"

Ares stared at her in disbelief for a long, dreadful moment. He stood up and stared at her; no single emotion seemed to make its way to fit upon his face but for shock. Then, suddenly, he was glaring, and he spun around and visciously punched the tree he'd previously been leaning against. Dammit! he shouted. He rounded on her again, anger obvious. Dammit, Evermore, do you really think that would work? What the hell is going on in your mind? You can't even leave your goddamn school without permission each time and you want to leave the one ******** place you'll be safe so you can dance? His anger was obvious, and seemed to be present for a great number of reasons--her safety included.

He was seething, glaring fiercely at her. Great as that may be, you have to turn the offer down. This war is more important than a stupid dance opportunity. You'll have plenty of time for that when we've won. If they managed to win before Christmas, then she could go, he decided. But only if they managed to win before Christmas. She wouldn't have time to do it otherwise--not if she was as serious as she'd said she was about the war effort. The war needed 150% of everyone involved. No less, preferably more. She didn't have the time to go around dancing for stupid mortals that couldn't comprehend the instability of their own damn world.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:17 pm

Ever actually fell backward and landed on the ground as Ares suddenly stood up, her hands falling off of his knees, and punched the tree. She was still on the ground staring up at him in shock when he rounded on her and started seething. Gods, she didn't think she had ever seen him this angry before... well, except for that time they were arguing in his room about Aphrodite. This might be a tie.

She slowly stood up from the ground and then looked up at Ares cautiously. "But... I can teleport, Ares. And... now, I don't want to lie to the headmistress, but I was thinking that I could tell her I was going into town to see if I could get any clues from the locals about any legends they heard about relics or other oddities around the area. She can let me through the barrier for that. I can do that, it wouldn't be a lie, but every time I have to leave, I can teleport from the village after I finish talking to the villagers and appear at the concert venue, ready to perform! It's perfect! And since I can teleport, I'd only be gone for about 3 hours every 3 nights or so!"

Her hands began gesturing again as she talked, trying to get Ares and Raven to see the logic in her plan. There was logic! She could make everything work, she could...

"I could still give my all to the war but also clear my head for a few hours every once in awhile so I can think and perform better when I get back!"

She laughed nervously and scratched the back of her head. She turned around and stepped back from Ares as she had another thought. "But, uh... even though the tour won't start until Christmas, I have to go meet with the tour manager and other dancers in a couple days. We have to go over the dances together and then get more tapes that we can watch and practice with on our own. It's only a 3-day workshop and I can teleport during breaks! I can still go up to that Room and research more about the Relic. Did I mention that I was in the Room a few hours ago? I was..."

Raven sighed in exasperation and flopped backward onto a rock by the lake. This girl was really dense sometimes. She hoped Ares took her by the shoulders and shook some sense into her!

Ares glared at her, growling lowly as she spoke. He stepped forward for every step she took back, menacing and obviously displeased. There is no ******** way that your silly plan will work, and you know it, he ground out, eyes flashing. Teleportation or not, every single time you take on damn step out of that border, you become vulnerable. Nothing can hurt you when you're at that school. You're safer there than you'll be anywhere else. I forbid you from leaving that damned border without good reason! His hands were clenched, shoulders hunched, and lips pulled back into a snarl. He didn't even care, at the moment, that she'd found the Room. Why did she have to do such stupid things?
