Luca thought it was a bit strange to have a holiday on a different date every year. "Toby really likes to cook, then?" he asked. Those two had done all the cooking for Toby's birthday. "His girlfriend too?"
"I think so," he said. He knew Lori would win, he was most often sitting and reading, and that made muscles shrink. "Ready?"

"Yeah. Food means family and love to him, and he taught Maia. It's their 'thing.' I personally can grill stuff and then I burn everything else."
Lori nodded then. "Get ready... get set... GO!" He sprinted for the sign, Rosie picking up in a moment and running with him, barking in excitement.

Luca nodded in understanding. Like books were their thing, sort of. "I burn everything," he admitted. "Food comes to me to die."
He ran after Lori, almost catching up but not quite.

When Lori stopped, Rosie was still barking. He had crouched to shush her as Luca reached the end. He laughed.
"Look at you! The librarian has some speed in him yet!" He stood and gave Luca a little kiss. "Come on. We'll just go around and back." He gestured around the next block, up, and back toward his house from behind.

"A bit," Luca smiled then, returning the kiss.
They continued to jog to Lori's house, and once there, Luca planted a kiss on Lori's cheek. "Go shower," he suggested. "I'll pick out a movie."

Rosie joined Luca as he scrolled through available films and Lori found his mind wandering into a 'what-if' situation regarding Luca entering said shower. He turned the water a bit cool then. It felt nice on overheated skin anyway. He emerged dry in a towel and went headed upstairs to grab some comfortable lounging clothes. He didn't feel like he needed to impress Luca with his wardrobe any more. They loved each other. It was different now.

Luca stroked Rosie on the head and behind the ears, pausing on a rom-com. Would Lori like this? Hm. He selected it, paused it before it began, and settled happily next to Rosie.
"Did you like your walk?" he asked.

Rosie gave Luca the side-eye as she laid her head in his lap. Was this okay? Was this allowed? Her master let her be anywhere so long as she was invited, but new people still made her nervous sometimes.
Lori emerged in sweatpants and a t-shirt and immediately sat beside Luca and gathered as much of him as he could into his arms, and kissed his ear.

Luca petted Rosie, smiling at the dog. He really enjoyed her company, he wished his place was bigger so he could keep one.
When Lori appeared, the elf turned to smile at him. "Hey love," he greeted, and nestled into his lap. "This look good?"

"You look great," Lori said with a cheeky smile, leaning in to kiss Luca's ear again, then finally turned toward the television. He wasn't a huge fan of romcoms, but they could be pretty funny and sometimes they made him feel a little warm inside, he'd have to admit. Rosie snuggled back up when Luca moved.
"Yeah, that's fine." He was more interested in the weight in his lap anyway.

Luca smiled, resting against Lori and pressing play on the remote. "Rosie's decided to watch with us," he said. "After the thanksgiving thing, do you want to--" Go out, get a drink, have sex? "Do something?"

"Sure, we could do something," Lori said with a nod, "It's usually over pretty early. Do you have something in mind?" He certainly did, but his romantic fantasies had yet to play into real life.

"I thought we could spend time together like this?" Luca suggested. He had plenty in mind--how did he suggest that, though? His last girlfriend had been a sex-and-then-leave type, but he knew better than to think the same of Lori. This was love.
"We could..." he hesitated, looking awkward. "You could stay at my place for the night."

At Luca's house? That was further away. That was an intentional move. Hmm, what did that mean? Could it possibly mean what he hoped it meant?
Lori smiled and nodded. "Should I book Rosie for an overnight at daycare?" He was suggesting himself that they be entirely alone, save the non-screaming frog. Would Luca agree?

Luca looked to Rosie, and then to Lori. Having a dog there would probably be awkward... "Yeah," he said. They could be alone. He scratched Rosie's ears. "So do you think...?" Was Lori interested?
