The afternoon passed quietly, and at dinner the children obediently asked Alassëa for lessons. She agreed, and when dinner was over, the worked with the children for about an hour, with Aethos overseeing it all, before sending the children to their rooms to wash up for bed.

Morning came, and so did breakfast, and most people came down to eat. River and Amalirahc made sure to sit with Miyuki, as usual.

"Who do you think will take us to the city today?" Amalirahc asked the others as they ate. He was excited, but his excitement was dampened somewhat. His mother hadn't come down to breakfast, and though she had said that she was simply tired, not having slept well the night before, he was a very protective little boy, and he couldn't help but be slightly worried about her.

River pursed her lips thoughtfully. "I think Grandpapa said he wouldn't mind taking us," she volunteered.

Amalirahc looked around. "Eating, looks like," he grinned.

River giggled at that. "Why don't you ask them?" she asked Miyuki. "Go ahead, I'll ask Grandpapa if he'll take us today."

She left her breakfast for the moment (though she was pretty much finished with it anyways) and ran to ask her grandfather if he would be willing to take them to the city for the day.

Kaito grinned at Miyuki. "Morning. What brings you over here? I heard you three found a new friend. You going to see him again today?"

Shiro was on the other side of Kaito, and he was tapping away at his tablet while he ate, but when he heard Kaito greet Miyuki he turned off the screen and looked over at her as well. "Morning," he grinned at her.

Kaito grinned. "Sounds fun. I've been exploring the castle, getting to know my way around. Getting information. Following Daeron and Iorlas. Talking with Aunt Amalthea, and even Uncle Eregon when he's free. And Ander."

"I've been talking with Lord Jaxon," Shiro added. "Learning the history of this land and its people, as well as their views on other people and lands. Fascinating stuff, though I'm not sure you would be able to sit still long enough for the details."

He grinned at her. He knew she was an active girl, not so big on listening.

Shiro laughed. "That's exactly what I mean. But don't worry about it, if you ever have any questions, I can answer them for you a little bit at a time."

"Just keep that in mind when you answer," Kaito teased his brother.

Shiro laughed. "So I get carried away sometimes."

Shiro blinked. "Ah ... no. But I can see why she might. I'll see what I can do, probably talk to her while you're all gone this morning."

It would probably take a magical solution, though, and that was something he hadn't worked with before. He was happy to take a try at it though. He was willing to try just about anything, really.

"I wonder ..." he muttered to himself, turning back to his tablet and turning it back on.

Kaito just grinned at Miyuki. "Yeah, I think that's safe to say," he agreed. "But you know how he is. Once you give him an idea, he's going to keep at it and ignore everything else until he works it through and finds the solution that he wants."

It was just the way Shiro was. Obsessive and thorough.
