You just have to find it in your local area.
I was never a "paying member". I really just trained with someone who was. I did go to some SCA events though. Fun stuff.

It just is. Not that that's a bad thing, I personally have enjoyed most aspects of my interactions with the SCA. However, I've only ever been to the Clinton event which I hear is a bad representation... given it's just one big battle, and then everyone trying to get drunk and ******** each other for a week under the thinly veiled medieval get-together illusion.
But, cool tents, cool armor and weapons, the castle is fun. All and all, the s**t is hilarious, but not too shabby.

ARMA is awesome. Best way to learn how to rp swordfighting and other medieval weapons properly.
