The one thing I kept telling people before the tournament: study up on what your character specializes in. It makes the roleplay more believable and richer.
And links are fine. But that's it. Like KB said, nothing more.

It's always better to at least look into how things work or get an idea for yourself IRL. That can be a lot harder with swordplay since... swordplay manuals are very difficult to read without experience.
That being said, in the instance of Sephiroth you can pretty much watch Advent Children and be like "lol ok". I'm surprised he hasn't won the match already ( no offense ) just due to obscene reach and physics-raping sword handling.

Yeah, I know. I haven't done my part in that aspect. Again, that's part of why I'm playing this fight the way I am.
So, I'll Google staff and spear fighting when I get off work, while I continue to wait for my opponent to post, and then perhaps I'll have some more understanding of what I can and can't do.
Regardless, ********' Sephiroth up beast-style is still my plan.

If you miss it now, this will be added to the "Rosa's Roleplaying Links" section of the BSB's wall of text later.
And nah, it'd be too much like my fighting if I said "do this, like this, at this time." I'm too lazy to write someone's post for them.
Unless it's for ridiculous amounts of money, like 3 million or something, hah.

Lol.
I'm actually wondering, now, how you judge people are gonna feel about my first couple of posts.
Does it help to know that I wander around outside, swinging invisible weapons and stepping and shifting my body around to act out what's happening in my rp fights, from both perspectives? Is that strange? Or, is it an acceptable habit?

Why do people keep assuming that the owner of a tournament is always going to be the final boss?

Midus needs to get punched in the face.
I do the same thing, Flayer. Cept I have weapons I usually use. Having someone walk in on that is worse than having someone walk in on masturbation.

Happens to me all the time! I try to pretend I'm doing some sort of awkward stretch to pass it off.

What's your out for it? And I have weapons, too, just not a staff, right now. And, the weapons I do have, none of my characters use.

I have a ******** I've ruined that sword. My friend was aghast at the way I treat my sword. I was all, "what's the point of owning a sword if I don't stab s**t? HIYAH!"
Needless to say its dull and chipped, because I've chopped up pretty much everything with it... and I had a swordfight with my katana-wielding friend. Let the record show that the sabre won out over the katana in terms of durability, but ******** if I was going to let him hit me with that s**t. ( we were pretty much going all out, and I remember batting him a few times with the metal sheath, still has the dent marks. XD )

Well... seeing that I'm usually holding a wooden sword when they walk in I just say I'm practicing for when I get back into ARMA. lol
Still embarrassing as ******** since I know the truth.
I can usually act out moves with various weapons all with my sword.

Yeah, you can generally. But, I like to have a real-world representation of what I'm dealing with. One of the few characters I have an accurate equivalent to is Reive. He uses a KABAR, and I own one. Lol, not too hard to translate that to rp.
EDIT: What's ARMA?
