((Gone too long, but I think I'm back now. Magnavar: I will edit this for Zach's part.))

Kathmandu, Nepal

Small brown hangars lined the tarmac. Most of them held equally small planes, six seaters and the like. Off to one side, a small building provided with shelter from what promised to be a cold and overcast day. Two people took advantage of that shelter. One of them stared out the window, bored. He had already determined that the biggest dangers inside the building were a coffeepot and a handful of thumbtacks from the bulletin board. Now he watched through one of the large windows for approaching danger.
The appearance of four figures caught his attention. "Hey, don't I recognize that guy?" he asked.
His companion answered him without looking up. "Requiem, assassin and melee specialist, works for Mishap Mercenaries. Has a grudge against a demon. Last seen in several locations rumored to hold the sword Balmung." She turned the page of a newspaper.
"No, I mean the other guy in black. That's Shadow Dragon. Remember, the one who inspired us to become mercenaries? He's right out there." He paused. "Wait. How come you know so much about this Requiem guy?"
"He's been pestering some powerful people. They subcontracted us to run a background check on him."
"You didn't tell me about that."
"You didn't need to know."
The man struggled, as if he wanted to say something but knew that he would get in trouble if he did. He looked back out the window. "They're getting on the plane. I want to get an autograph."
"Permission denied. The blond in the parka is a wanted criminal named Joel Issiri, also believed to be connected to Mishap Mercenaries. Sizable reward for his capture."
"Did you do a background check on him, too?"
No. I read the poster behind you."
The man turned and looked at the bulletin board. Among the flyers, ads, and news articles pinned haphazardly on the board there was a tiny page titled "REWARD for information leading to the arrest of..." One of the blurry photos showed a man with dark green eyes and Spock ears. The reward had several zeroes behind it.
"We have to stop them!"
"And face four on three odds? I don't think so."
"But -- !" The man thought for a moment about what she'd said. "What'd you do?" he asked expectantly.
"I noticed that Mishaps hired a plane, so I had a few words with the pilot." Calmly she refilled her mug.
Across the airport and ignorant of the entire exchange, Joel gave the pilot the word to take off.

LOCATION: Kathmandu, Nepal

It was cold.

That was the first thing Riku noticed when he stepped off the plane. His suit was designed to insulate him against the cold of his homeland in Valhalla, but that didn't mean he couldn't tell when it was cold. He turned up the collar on his coat, and followed Joel onto the tarmac.

While the MM personnel that had come with them began unloading the gear from the plane, Riku took a look around. It was a relatively small airport, just outside of the city. The buildings of Nepal's capital could be seen in one direction, the towering heights of the Himalayas in the others. And somewhere up in those heights was a temple, waiting for them.

Riku turned to Joel. "We don't have much time. Intel shows that Kavinsky's forces are almost to their rendezvous. Once they get into those choppers, they'll arrive at the temple in a matter of hours. We need to hurry."

Shadow, followed by Guardiana, silently followed the others off the plane. He was intentionally the last one off. He ducked his head a little to fit through the hatch leading out the plane and walked down the steps. The atmosphere was very chill, but it didn't bother him. He was trained to be able to work effectively in any environment and any climate.

At first contact with the change in climate, from the plane to the outside, the chill bit at his cheeks and ears and tried to make his eyes water. He adjusted himself, accepted the cold, blinked the water away and swung the axe back onto his back now that he was off the plane.

Outai could feel the air cooling even before they got to their destination. Now that they had arrived, she was thrilled by how cold it was. It was refreshing to her, and at the same time, energizing. It was her type of weather.
Mooney, on the other hand, was freezing. Unlike Outai, he didn't like the cold, at least not as much.
"Outai, did you bring me a sweater?"
"Yes, I did." Outai said as she pulled a long sleeved kitty sweater out of her bag.
Outai carefully slipped the sweater on to Mooney, not really surprised that he didn't fuss or argue about it. She knew he wouldn't like the cold, and had planned ahead. The sweater itself was pitch black, matching his fur so it wasn't as obvious he was wearing it.
"Hey, if you need I can be your eye in the sky until they arrive. Once they get here I'll be fighting along side you, if need be, and I'm sure it will."
"That's the only problem with you being in cold places," Mooney whined, "You're as giddy as a school girl."
"Yeah, well, we're here, so deal with it."
"Alright. Just keep your mind open."
"Way ahead of you." Outai said as she tapped her temple with her pointer finger.

Larry stopped picking at the lock when he heard growling and whooshing outside. It sounded kind of like a rabid bear was swinging a stick so fast that. Without thinking, Larry suddenly blurted out "Who is that?! Hello? Is someone out there!"

The swinging noise intensified and at one point the axe just barely glanced off the side of shed next to where Larry's cage was. Larry jumped and fell backwards "Sssssshit!!" he whispered "Things sound horrible out there."

And indeed they were. The axe man was built like a bear so his growling suited him perfectly. With every swing he threatened to sever Korie's comparitively tiny body in two. The only saving grace of her's at the moment was that the axe was heavy and not quick to recover from a big swing.

Right after a nice wide swing, the axe drew back and raised into the air "MMRRFFGHHHRRRG!!!" the cloaked woodsman cried raising it above his head in an effort to intimidate the unwelcome outsider before him.

"It would probably be a good idea to meet up with everyone. Now, Yue was in the south-east section, and Rusty was in the clock tower... Wait, that is not a very safe place for Rusty! All those flights of stairs. He could trip."
With that said, Ace stopped talking to himself and ran towards the clock tower.

"Man this drug addict sure is boring. I thought the ticking clock noses would work. Well, I don't have anything else in mind that would not be considered torture... I guess I will just leave him be."

The ticking stopped abruptly.
"I have far to much work to do."

((I guess I should be explaining why I was gone for so long. Well, how do I put it... Some teens get grounded for going over their minutes on their cell phone plan or accidentally denting the car. I got grounded for not wearing the rubber bands for my braces. Very lame indeed.))

Moving quickly, Korie was just barely preventing her body from being sliced in two. She had no time to attack, despite the small gap of time it took for him to recover, it wasn't enough to get a good attack ready. "Sure, the bigger they are, the harder they fall, but how do you get this guy to fall?!" she muttered as the axe landed near the shed. Earlier had she heard a faint cry from inside and she gritted her teeth. Dammit, what made them so important that these posessed villagers were going to such lengths to destroy them?

And, right at that moment, Korie made a fatal mistake. She misjudged the villager's recovery time, and the axe was already upon her! "AGH!" She jerked her body to the side, and a clatter, then a large CRACK was heard. "Crap.." she whimpered, waiting for the pain to come, sure that the guy had broken something on her body. But it never came. Surprised, she looked up from her almost fetal position. She saw the large man, the axe implanted in the ground from the overswing. And then she saw what the source of the noise was.

Yes, he had broken something that was on her body. In shattered remains, you could see black plastic and metal pieces and ripped wires. It looked like a little black box, now cut crudely in two by the large axe. That did it. Her last nerve snapped. He destroyed her electrical wavelength frequency analyzer, one of her best tools, her best inventions ever. It must have fallen off her belt when she dodged that attack. That was one rule that everybody that knew her knew; never touch, much less break, one of her inventions.

The axe was still implanted in the ground, but was coming out by inches. Korie took her time, slowly getting up. Her hands didn't hurt as much anymore. Utter rage took her body in. "..Do you know what you just did," she said in a dangerous monotone, and the villager actually hesitated in shock at the sudden change of atmoshpere. There wasn't any rushed fear now. And in a second's burst of speed, Korie had already transported herself from the front to behind the villager. And before he could react, a dull thudding sound was heard. And then the axeman fell to the ground face-first.

"Hmph," she muttered, un-cracking her fingers from the shot she made to the pressure point to his neck, wincing a bit now that the feeling in her hands came back. A roar ripped through the trees."He should be out for a while, but just to be safe..." Korie pulled out some thick rope and tied his wrists and ankles together quickly, and pulled at the axe. After a little bit of time, the axe came out and she almost fell from its weight. Grunting from the heavy burden, she dragged it to the front of the shed. Then she tested the door, if you could call it that, with her foot. Locked, naturally. "Urrrgh...!" she groaned as she slowly pulled the axe up to her shoulder, almost trembling from the weight, and swung, or dropped, it onto the front of the shed. The wood buckled and splintered and she kicked her way into a small, dark room, barely illuminated by a lantern."Larry?"

(( For some reason, I really liked this one. Suspense in a few paragraphs, what do you think? =3 ))

Library, MMHQ

Zach nodded his head fearfully. Being completely deaf, he couldn't hear a word the man said, but Zach had a lifetime of practice reading lips. The truth was that he hadn't seen anything, even after several hours sitting motionless. That fact hardly penetrated the fog of fear in his brain for a second, but it was enough to make him realize that he was chattering and not answering any of the man's questions. He showed the screen to Cyrith. When Cyrith looked like he was getting to the important part at the end, he pointed down an aisle. A disturbing vision of Cyrith drawing a knife behind his back crossed his mind. Zach knew it was irrational, but he let his new companion lead. He'd rather have someone between him and the book anyway.

((OOC: It was good. Reminded me never to mess with your inventions. xd ))

"Oh Ave freakin' Maria, am I glad to see you." Larry exclaimed running to the front of his cage. Grasping the bars, he gave them a fruitless shake. "Listen, I know we were on a mission." he told Korie "Regardless, I think it's time to get the hell out of Dodge. I can't remember a thing from the time we portaled to when I got up."

Larry could only imagine what might have happened if he was left behind or they found Korie and skewered her. Now was the time in his life when he regretted seeing all those scary movies. He was frantic with fear over how many of those stories were true.

Suddenly, Larry came to his senses "Look, we just need to bust this lock right now and get out of here. Otherwise..." he looked nervously at the ground.

Korie sighed with relief, and walked up to the cage. She listened to Larry talk as she dug around in a pouch attached to her belt. She pulled out a thin piece of metal, and bent it into a curious hooked shape. She jammed it into the lock, and in a matter of seconds the lock fell and the cage opened. Piece of cake.

After bending the metal back to its original shape and putting it away, Korie looked at Larry with a serious expression. He looked so frightened, that expression alone scared her. "Otherwise...?" she questioned. To be honest she didn't really want to know the end of that sentence. "You can't remember...a thing? Oh no..." What was wrong here? Was it in that drug? This wasn't good, that was for sure.

After some serious thought, she finally nodded. "Okay, we'll postpone the mission for now. We have to get you back to HQ to try to find out what's wrong with you first."
