Earendil smiled at Miyuki. "Well, we'll be inside soon enough," he assured her.
And sure enough, within fifteen minutes they were in the dining room and being served a small lunch. Dinner was only a few hours away, which was the reason why it wasn't the large meal that it normally would have been.
As they were eating, Wren entered the dining room, her eyes bright with excitement.
"Welcome back," she greeted the group cheerfully. "Did you have a good morning?"

"It was fun!" Miyuki pipped up, "We played with a boy named Jess, and then we went clothes shopping. Well.... Amalirahc, River, Andarien and Arthael went clothes shopping but I helped."
Since she didn't need new clothes at the moment, and she was fine with that. She liked the clothes from Gaia, the style at least.

"And I'm going to get a whole lot of new clothes!" River beamed. "Because Grandmama says that mine don't fit me right anymore, and I guess she's right. But Princess Wren, ifwewanttoinvitesomeoneherefordinnersometimecanweaskyouordowehavetoakyourgrandparents?"
She said this last sentence so fast that it took Wren a moment to figure out what she had said, and then she laughed.
"If you would like to invite someone, by all means, feel free," she giggled. "Just be sure to tell me how many, and when, and I'll let Nako and Neko know so that we'll be prepared for them."
She tilted her head curiously. "Did you have someone in mind?"
"Jess!" River just about squealed.
Earendil laughed. "And she wonders why we keep teasing her."

Miyuki blinked at River and wondered if maybe she needed more friends to understand why River was so excited about this. Or maybe she had just too many friends to understand why River was so excited about this. Her tails swished back and forth.
Then again he was really nice, so maybe that was why.
She looked over at Amalirahc to see what he was thinking.

Amalirahc, being as young as he was, didn't really think it was anything out of the ordinary. In fact, if the grownups hadn't been teasing River earlier, he wouldn't have thought anything about it at all.
As it was, he just grinned. "The other kids are mean to him, and to us," he added in explanation to Wren, "but Jess was really nice to us - all of us."
Wren smiled. "Well, that's good to hear. I know there are many people in this city who don't like anything out of the ordinary, anything they're not used to - but sometimes you will find special people, like this boy that you've met, who are kind through and through."

Miyuki nodded at this, "So it would be nice to have Jess over, also to say we do like him for being himself."
Since she knew Jess was awfully shy and wasn't use to having nice things said about him.

Wren's smile grew wider. "Then I think it would be a lovely idea. You go right ahead and ask him, and see what date suits his parents best. I'll make sure that we are ready for them on that date."
River clapped her hands together excitedly. "Thank you!" she exclaimed.
"There is only one problem," Arthael pointed out calmly. "We don't know his family - who they are, or where they are. So either we're going to have to go from shop to shop, looking for them - and hoping that they do indeed own a shop - or else you're going to have to find him at the football field soon and ask him where they are."
"Can we do both?" River asked with a grin. "We can look for him at the field and then if he's not there we can look at the shops!"

"I'm sure we'll find him at the football field," Miyuki replied, "He plays there often and we are going to play again with him soon."
So she didn't see it as being as much of an issue, at least she hoped it wouldn't be.

"Can we go back tomorrow morning?" Amalirahc asked, looking up at his parents.
Leyenda smiled. "If the girls would like to go tomorrow, and all three of you get in the training tonight that you should, then I see no reason not to."
Amalirahc looked eagerly at River and Miyuki. "Let's find Alassëa tonight!" he said eagerly.
River giggled. "I'm sure we can ask her at dinner if she wouldn't mind training us a bit afterwards, before we go to bed." She looked at Miyuki. "What do you think? Do you want to go tomorrow morning again?"

Miyuki thought about it before nodding, she was going to have to anyways, why not do it tonight?
"Okay!" she agreed, "I'd like to play again tomorrow too!"
She would like to see Jess again as well.

"Now that that is settled," Kelirahc spoke up, looking back at the princess, "you seemed quite excited when you entered the room. Did something happen?"
Wren laughed. "Ah, yes. The children nearly distracted me. Father has given me permission to travel with you the next time you sail, but until that time I will have to remain here. He knows that when sailing, I could be gone for many years, and he doesn't want me to be gone longer than I have to be."
Leyenda clapped her hands together. "Excellent! That's wonderful news!"

"That's great!" Miyuki smiled widely, "Now you can be with us when we sail, and we'll have fun!"
Sure, there was often learning involved, but it was still fun to go and see all the new places.

Wren grinned. "Absolutely. I'm really looking forward to it. So don't take too long in getting it ready, all right?"
Earendil chuckled. "Well, we're going to finish our tour of the Four Lands, and then Lin and I should visit her family in her world ... and then we'll return."
"And then Mama and Papa and I can come get you on Irahc!" Amalirahc beamed.
"That sounds like fun," Wren winked at the boy. "I look forward to it." She stood up again. "At any rate, I did promise Father I would look into something for him this afternoon. I'll see you all again at dinner, all right?"

Miyuki waved at Wren, "See you at dinner."
She wondered what Wren had to look into, probably something to help run the kingdom or something like that. She didn't know what kind of work Wren did.

"And I think," Earendil suggested as he finished his snack, "that Andarien probably needs a nap, and Miyuki, you had an active morning too. If you're going to train tonight you should probably rest as well."
Andarien had already fallen asleep with only half of his piece of bread eaten.
"And River needs to catch up on schooling," Arthael added, looking steadily at her granddaughter.
River nodded meekly. "Yes, Grandmama."
