Regardless of personal skill you should write poetry or personal essays as both are invaluable as methods of introspection and self-definition.

It is difficult to explain due to its highly philosophical nature. In order to explain the reason for the emphasis I place on self-definition and introspection would require a lengthy analysis of the purpose of existence and so on.
