Pokemon Black is a great game, really it is, but I just can't get into it the same way. I still think the original GBC games and their remakes are the best. After beating Red in GSC/HGSS, I felt like a Pokemon Master. That was sufficient. I didn't need to start all over again in some other region and have to deal with evil groups that seem kinda phony compared to Team Rocket. All this just hits me now.
I feel like one of those retarded retro gamers who rate games based on how much nostalgia they have for them and nothing else, and then refuse to play anything new.
What I really love about XD was that you get to be a Pokemon trainer in it, and you get to have battles and stuff but it was really fresh because your goal wasn't to collect gym badges and beat the Pokemon League, and you weren't obliged to catch 'em all. Plus both the overworld and battles were in GCN graphics, so it was like Pokemon Stadium except better. I really hope they do something like that again on the 3DS.

Speaking of Red, I found a video on Youtube of someone facing Red in G/S with a party of level 5 Pokemon, and winning. But it was all in Japanese so I don't understand how the heck that is possible.

I'm digging this gen' a bit disappointed that the difficulty curve seems to have been the same since gen 2 though.
There are so many useful things they got rid of which offends me. Like the VS seeker. That had to be nay was one of the best things generation 3 offered to make up for lack of pokegear. 3
They didn't have to nerf the pokemon following you around 3
I learned that I love that gray chinchilla pokemon
Chinchilla + Technician + Scope Lens or Razor Claw + Attacks that hit 2-5 times = A big old can of near unstoppable rape.

Well I'm glad I got Fossil Fighters, then, even if I can't play it for a little while. I got to do one battle, and it's got a neat kind of battle system, where you can have up to what looks like four dinosaurs fighting at once, and you might move them around on a grid type thing during the fight. Different dinosaurs have different abilities, like my Spinosaur or whatever would counterattack for one damage whenever he got hit. The bottom screen showed the grid and dinosaurs and handled attacks in 2D, while the top screen was showing a 3D, Pokemon Stadium-esque battle.

Have you played GSC and/or HG/SS recently? Nostalgia can be a problem if you haven't played the games since you were a kid, but the remakes came out a year ago and you seem to think pretty highly of them. Re-playing games generally either ruins the nostalgia you had for the game, or reminds you why you liked the game so much in the first place. For the record, I'd say HG/SS are my favorite pokémon games so far. It combines the technical improvements of the newer games (graphics, battle system, etc.) with my favorite group of pokémon (first and second gen). I haven't played B/W yet, though. Porygoon What I really love about XD was that you get to be a Pokemon trainer in it, and you get to have battles and stuff but it was really fresh because your goal wasn't to collect gym badges and beat the Pokemon League, and you weren't obliged to catch 'em all. One thing I didn't like about XD: Every trainer's party jumps to level 50 after you beat Greevil. That's fine for my current party, but I liked purifying Shadow pokémon by battling so they'd gain several levels. sad It was an interesting take on Pokémon though, I'll agree there. Not my favorite game, but it was fun.

I thought XD was too short and just not big enough or something idk. I just loved how it was different and creative without making you a "Pokemon Ranger" or some weird thing like that. The best part of Pokemon is the battling, and so long as you can battle and catch Pokemon normally, I don't see why you have to earn gym badges and whatnot. If they could improve upon the whole shadow concept or come up with more cool ideas like that, it would fix the problem, I think.
I can't really get into the GBC games anymore, but the remakes are still amazing. If they have the originals on the 3DS VC then I might play them again, especially if they include some way to trade wirelessly because that would be badass. It's just annoying to use my GBC because of no backlight and I dislike how the cartridge sticks out of the GBASP.

I do personally like Red and Blue the most as well, but I haven't even played two of the gens since Gold and Silver.
