Now that that was categorized and could be ignored, it felt almost like she was lighter. She sat down and thought about how she was going to use a kubukiri houcho with just one arm. She lowered herself to the grass again and subconsciously noticed that her fingers were gouged into the ground, and that up to the second knuckle on each finger and the first on her thumb was beneath the surface. She had actually forced most of her hand into the ground to stabilize herself. Interesting

Keiko gave a tip of the head as Shin forced himself from not bowing. It was going to be a long journey to get Shin to act more...oh what was the word, open and to get him out of the trained routine that he learned when he was little. She snapped out of it and smiled, "It looks like none of us have gotten sleep around here..."
Keiko thought for a minute, "So we are going to make up Mai's room into your room, well for now. We'll figure out a room for you soon, so that you can have your own space."
Keiko moved through out the kitchen, straightening things throughout space. She was thinking of the other time that she could fill, she couldn't just fall asleep or unless it would screw her up even more. "Then I'll give you your first cooking lesson, it will be something easy, and it will be a early dinner so that all of us can have a lot of time to sleep."
She looked up at Shin, "Okay!" She pushed her sleeves up and was ready to work, she grabbed his hands, which where cold as ice. It fascinated her, she dragged him along to Mai's room and opened the door. She looked in and saw Mai's bed, which looked like Shin was using. It worked out, for now. "Eh..." She sighed. "So do you have anything from the shelter? Anything at all?"

Hitomi very abruptly and very consciously realized that she had hit the ground. I turns out that she wasn't any lighter, and that the only thing that having a more solid hold on things did was hurt more when you fell to the side. Wait a minute... Lighter? A thought passed through Hitomi's mind, and it might have merit. If something was too heavy to use, then why adjust to it? If you can adjust it to you, then you save time and work...

To Keiko's offer for cooking lessons: "I would be forever indebt-, uh..." A soft pause as Shin grasped for a less formal term and phrasing. "I would most appreciate...eh..." Finally a quiet, albeit flustered: "...I would like that..." Shin mumbled awkwardly, one hand ruffling his own hair in embarrassment. It had taken him three tries to agree to a cooking lesson! Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant... If Cronos was here, Shin was fairly certain the other would make some jibe about declining intellect...then again, Cronos probably wouldn't know what an IQ test was anyways...
Almost as if instinctively responding to Keiko's inquiry on posessions, Shin's fingers immediately fumbled around the form of the white-gold locket around his neck. After a moment, he replied: "Only okaa-san's necklace and three sets of clothes...besides what I usually carry." Usually, being his shuriken pouch/holster and his clan scrolls in that waistbag. And in actuality, officially two sets of clothes now since Shin still haven't discovered what had exactly become of his main set of clothes after the night of the festival.

Hitomi rolled back over and felt her wrist ache. She fought herself upright and forced herself off of the ground. She was determined that she wasn't going to give up. She was going to do this right, and she was going to be able to wield the kubikiri houcho when she got it, even if she had to remove half the blade to do it. That is an idea, but what if I could keep the whole blade and just take a little of the material out? Removing a little material from the inside would preserve the structure's stability, but still lighten it, right?

Hitomi bit her lip as her wrist screamed at her, and she had to pause for a breath at arm's reach from the ground. Ok. So hollow it out a bit. That loses me a couple of pounds, at best. I still need some way to lighten it further... Hitomi was once again lowering herself back towards the earth, both in her mind and in the physical plane as well. It's good in theory, but in practice? It might not be functional, but it does have a good theory... I figure it might lead to something...

Hitomi found herself once again climbing away from the safety of the ground. She needed just a few more before she was done. She was already feeling her arm ache. If she kept on like she was, she shouldn't be too sore from this, but if she kept falling, she would develop a fear of heights. She smiled to herself. That'd be rich. A bird with a phobia of leaving the ground. I can see it all now. She blinked. Wait a minute. Birds. Hollow bones. Yet birds manage to balance weight and durability... Filling their bones with... Air...

Air. The fundamental chakra inside all of us is shapeless, colorless, and is as air in all ways until it is manifested by us. If we choose to use our chakra, it manifests itself in only a few ways. This is reliant on our natural elemental chakra affinities, correct? That means that if one had a wind-based chakra then their chakra could be as air and have its characteristics manipulated by the user. If one should choose, they could most likely manipulate their chakra to make it lighter than air... This would make it fight against the air and move upwards. With weight applied to this, then the lift created by the difference in density would negate some of the weight. So on top of there being less material weight, there could be chakra in that area that further reduced that reduced wight... Hitomi hadn't realized in the least that she had completed that last push up, and continued without thinking about it.

She quickly turned around to him as Rai wiped away the tears. "If you want...I'll talk to Harumi if she comes back...I'll speak to her." She was confused, but she understood what Shishimaru had to say. "I understand...living with the guilt of leaving her sick mother." Shizuka turned to Raisuke and bowed. "I'm sorry for my sisters rude action against you...But I still promise if she tries to lay a hand on you that I'll be the one to take the hit. I guess...hehe...try to think of a way not to piss her off." It was perfectly understandable, not seeing the ones you cared about for ten years and the fear of something happening to them...it gets to you. "Also Rai-kun, thank you for protecting me this whole day. I really appreciate it!"

Once again, Hitomi was shocked back into reality by her sudden impact with the surface of Keiko and Gig's yard. OK. Light as a board, stiff as a feather, right? She got back up and shook her head to clear it, getting back into her position, preparing for what she decided would be the last in this training session. She couldn't allow her mind to wander if she wanted to get this over with, and then she could focus on the ideas that were flowing through her mind like a floodgate had been broken down. If she could prove that this could be done, she could do amazing things with it... If chakra could be made to be lighter than air, then perhaps it could make air heavier... And either one opens countless doors for opportunity....

Hitomi let out half a yelp as she fell to her left side, hitting her shoulder on the ground, and watching as red spots began to appear through her bandages. At least she wasn't wearing her dress anymore. But that relief didn't help with the immediate pain. She got back up, determined to make this last one, just so that she could say she didn't quit. She needed this, and she wasn't going to stop just because she was bleeding. If it came to the worse, she'd just pass out and hopefully get found tomorrow. If Kon didn't wake up first and get help.

Hitomi began to tear up. She felt the pain even before she hit the ground exactly the same way as before. her bandages were beginning to soak through, and the surface was taking on a more vivid crimson, revealing just how much of her blood was coming through. Wow... I might need to go back to the hospital for push-ups? She sighed, fighting back a whimper as she righted herself and forced herself to put that distance between her and the cold earth. If she got sick, it would be hell for the ceremony, wouldn't it?
