Oh? That's new. So is it a color sheet under a clear coat, or is the plastic colored? Either way, preordered editions of the 3DS would work well, in theory.
I still know little about the 3DS. The DSi kinda upset me with the screen breaking so easily and Nintendo not taking it back despite the warranty.

l-Kathulu-l But Nintendo could offer an option like that for $10 or something. You get some fantard who wants "Samus Orange" and you spend like $3 painting it. Even if they only offered like 5 extra preorder color bonuses they would get some extra cash. Like the Treecko Green, Torchic Red, and Mudkip Blue SP's that came out. They could start a website, like I'd said, too. The problem with making a bunch of 3DSes in a myriad of colors is there would be colors that would sell less and they would get stockpiles of those that no one would want. A website would remedy this, as you could order what you wanted and they could custom make it for you.

Well, they've been using directly colored plastic for a while now, it doesn't scratch off. My friend had the red SP, and it looked like s**t after a while, from the paint getting all scratched up,
That said, he really never took very good care of his stuff... Or mine razz

I STILL want the NES SP. A SNES 3DS would be neat, or hell, even an N64 one.

My Green SP is in good condition still. Although when I got my phat I just put it in a drawer full of old electronic stuff, and got it out about 2 months ago.

Meta_Fish Hobo Scruffy I remember that. And then it only came out in one color. Why do they do this to us? crying Does anyone remember how awesome it was with all the different GameBoy Color colors? Or even just getting a new colored N64 controller? I miss those days. The N64, I believe, only came in one color, too. Hell, the SNES and NES never got any more colors. I can understand wanting a cool color (I've wanted the red Wii and before it, the black something fierce, as well as the midnight blue DSiXL) but it's not going to prohibit me from buying this kickass piece of hardware. The myriad of N64 colors didn't seem to work too well for them, though. I remember seeing a bunch of yellow N64s or whatever at the stores that no one wanted. That's the risk you run when you have multiple colors of a console. It's something good to break out a year or so down the road (instead of a revision, I don't want them to pull a DSi -> DSiXL again), to help keeps sales up, but for launch, having a ton of colors is pretty silly. I AM tempted to get black though. The buttons look quite nice in black, but the outside blue is great. I would love a site where you could pay fifty bucks more to get it painted just the way you want it. Nintendo would be smart to do that. You're right. The N64 only had one color at launch. Even the controllers did. And I'm pretty sure GBCs only came out in Indigo at first too. And I understand why it isn't a good idea to have too many choices at launch, but I thought Nintendo was making a bold statement. They were taking the fun of choosing your preferred color, and allowing you to have it at launch. I really miss when you could have a system just a little unique to the one your friends had, and I'm sad to admit that I was wrong and Nintendo is not doing that. sad
Also important to note, I was reading an interview the day before the site was updated with 3DS stuff and in it there was a little side note that stated 3D video capture was confirmed, but it's not listed anywhere in the new info. One color and one feature down? What else are they holding back? I really hope it get's reconfirmed otherwise I foresee a slightly redderbetter model in the not to distant future. ninja (Not that a feature like that couldn't be firmware-updated into the launch models. Just saying. sweatdrop )

I really miss when you could have a system just a little unique to the one your friends had, and I'm sad to admit that I was wrong and Nintendo is not doing that. sad Actually, I think the Color came out in five colors at launch. I had to go to Wikipedia to read about this stuff, but it was one for each color of the word "color" on the logo? So that's kind of surprising. I loved the days of the N64 and GBC, because everyone would have their own color and it was like they all had their own personality. It was neat, but I can see why they aren't doing it anymore. I'd love to see a website where you could custom order your own colored 3DS, with each part of it being paintable in any color you want, maybe even some text engraving or something. It would be really cool, and hell, I'd probably order one for fifty bucks extra and wait a few days for it to get here after launch. But I think Nintendo's got enough on their plate as is. Hobo Scruffy Also important to note, I was reading an interview the day before the site was updated with 3DS stuff and in it there was a little side note that stated 3D video capture was confirmed, but it's not listed anywhere in the new info. Just saying. sweatdrop ) There has been talk about 3D video, but it could be added through revisions (3DS lite) or firmware upgrades, it's true. There is a bit of worrying news like that, and hey, its launch lineup isn't the strongest, but the 3DS is a fine piece of hardware that I'm going to be getting at launch regardless of some of the features it loses. I hope that in a year we don't see a 3DS Lite, but Nintendo is impossible to predict with these kinds of things, seeing as how we had four DS models, coming out at seemingly random times.

We've been getting consoles first here for awhile, so I'm alright with them getting something before us for once.
