Oh yeah, thousands are mourning the death of a 'popular, straight-A student' in California. Would those thousands have given a damn if she was unpopular and a straight-C student? Why do her grades even matter? Why does her popularity come into play?
Mourn her because she was abused and murdered, not because you're here for the media hype. Mourn her because you frigging knew her, not because you saw her picture on the news after she went missing and she was kind of pretty.
Bah.

You know, I'm really curious about that as well.
I remember around where I live two little girls went missing around the same time. One was Hispanic the other was a black girl.
When it was found out the black girl was killed she got a minor blimp on the news and no one cared, but oh god did they have to go on a 5 minute rant on how 'we' have yet to find the little Hispanic girl and everyone should do what they can to save her.
BLAH!!!
Then about about a few weeks later the body of a 13 year old girl was found that has been dead for several years...and both little girls were forgotten about...all because the 13 year was a white girl.

I'm going to get absolutely nothing done today at this rate. Stupid anxiety is reducing me to curling up and trying not to be overwhelmed. How the hell I am gonna get to class at this rate beats me. Oh well - at least it doesn't start till 4...

lexipthemudkip I'm going to get absolutely nothing done today at this rate. Stupid anxiety is reducing me to curling up and trying not to be overwhelmed. How the hell I am gonna get to class at this rate beats me. Oh well - at least it doesn't start till 4... When I get to feeling like that, I remind myself that my anxiety will only get worse if I don't do the work and if I don't go to class and just let everything pile up. Also, sometimes it helps if I kick in the Stepford Wife. Really getting down to work on something helps me wrangle my mind a bit.

lexipthemudkip, when I'd get stressed out over work, I'd either change locations so that I was where I was actually going to get stuff done or at least feel like I was, or I'd decide to procrastinate, curl up in some blankets and watch DiscoveryHealth until a certain time.
I also used to set aside Saturday and do absolutely no schoolwork, and that helped.

Thanks for all the encouragement, guys. smile smile I ended up unpacking boxes (since I moved recently) and fixing up my room... which is something I'd been putting off for AGES.

We moved back in October, and there's still plenty of boxes left to unpack. But it's just so much misc. stuff.. I think it can stay right where it is until I can find which box I packed my motivation into! 3nodding

rmcdra I can't believe that I'm having to argue that Catholics are Christian. I can. I've seen all kinds of nuts who argue that Catholics and Mormons aren't really Christians. D: I have my own reasons for not particularly caring for the Mormon faith (let's just say I take issue with plagiarists who use "God" as a penname razz ), but I want to croak every time someone points to their belief in a heavenly mother as "proof" Mormons are such terrible people.

I can believe it too but it's still rather annoying. I mean growing up in the United Methodist Church we were taught that they were Christians and this was in backwoods Louisiana.

Yeah I'm arguing for Mormons too. While I don't accept their addition to the canon and that they are trying to pass off relatively modern texts as "lost ancient text", that's not enough to say that they aren't Christian. True they should have the honesty to admit that those texts aren't ancient, but then again I'd also wish that the rest of Christianity would stop attributing 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus to Paul since he never wrote those epistles, but that's just me.
