Halmir scowled a bit. "It most certainly is not," he told Miyuki. "I don't like the fuss it takes to make a simple article of clothing."
Arthael laughed and slipped one arm around his side. "Then I'll tell you what. Tomorrow I'll come back on my own and pick up some material, and I'll make your new clothes myself. Deal?"
A twinkle appeared in Halmir's eyes, as if that was exactly what he had wanted all along. "Deal," he grinned smugly.
River giggled at her grandfather. "You're so silly, Grandpapa."

Miyuki didn't see anything simple about making clothing, there was always the planning and making sure it fit right and then the decorations. Though she did notice that boy clothing tended to be a bit more boring actually so maybe he was right.
She shrugged, "If you say so."

River grabbed his hand and held it as they walked. "So what did you do with Jess, Grandpapa?" she asked him brightly. "Did you play with him?"
"You bet," Halmir grinned. "He's a nice kid."
"I think he's a bit lonely, though," River frowned. She turned to MIyuki. "What about you? What did you think?"

"He's very shy," Miyuki murmured.
Though over time she was sure it was in a different way than her cousin. Her cousin didn't blush like that when someone complimented on her work. It was like he wasn't use to being complimented at all.
"I don't think he's use to people wanting to be with him."

"You going to come and play with him again?" Halmir asked, looking at all three of the children.
"Not with Darren," Amalirahc said sourly. "He's nothing but a bully!"
"Well if we come again and Darren's here, we can ask Jess if he wants to do something else with us," River suggested. "I like Jess. He needs to have good friends to spend time with, not just people like Darren."
She looked up at her grandmother. "Can we invite him to dinner at the palace with us sometime?"
Arthael thought about it. "Well, we would have to ask their Majesties if it's all right."
Amalirahc grinned wickedly. "I bet that'd show Darren who's better!"
Leyenda smacked him upside the head. "You're being as shallow as them," she told him with a frown.

Miyuki didn't shake her head at Amalirahc, because she knew what he meant. For some reason stuff like this mattered to people, and if Jess could come to dinner that would be cool for him.
"I don't think that's what Amalirahc means, even though we don't care it doesn't mean we don't notice how other people care... don't know why except you get to meet nice people with hard jobs...."
She trailed off at that thought, she would never want their jobs. Miyuki was pretty sure she would not like it at all.
"Anyways, I want to play with Jess, and maybe by the time we leave he won't be so shy around us."

"I think that would be nice," Earendil smiled. "Perhaps we could try to make sure that you get out to play at least every other day, or every day if you can?"
He looked to Lin for approval. It wasn't as if they would have to go every time, they could take turns going with the children, along with Kelirahc and Leyenda and Halmir and Arthael - and who knew? Maybe Shiro and Kaito and all the others would be interested in taking the children as well and seeing the city themselves.
"And I do think it would be nice, if the king and queen agree to it, to invite Jess and his family to the palace for dinner sometime," Leyenda spoke up with a smile. "If Jess is such a nice boy, his parents must be nice, too."

"Can I?" Miyuki looked to her mother since it was her mommy that set the lessons for the day.
Even though Lin had been slowly taking a more free rein approach as Miyuki got older. Though...
"As long as you keep up with your weapons work I don't see why not," Lin replied softly, "You do well in all your book work and languages."
In that aspect Miyuki was very much like her parents at least, or maybe it was a fast growing child thing. "Yay!"

Earendil chuckled. "Remember, that means you also have to make sure to spend time with Alassëa every day," he pointed out. "At least one hour."
"Don't worry, Miyuki, I'll be there with you," River smiled at her friend. "Remember, she's teaching all of us to see without our eyes!"
"It's not as hard as I thought it would be," Amalirahc mused. "You just have to listen very carefully."
"Well it's more than that," River pointed out, "but I guess that's the basic part of it." She looked up at her grandmother. "Do you think she'll be getting some new clothes, too, Grandmama?"
"Alassëa? She just got a whole new wardrobe in Tavari," Arthael laughed. "Aethos-sola has been taking very good care of her."

Lin had to smile at that, those two were cute she thought. Even though she wasn't going to count her chickens before they hatched she was pretty sure that Aethos and Alassea were at least very close to each other.
"It's true, I'm pretty sure by now Aethos and Alassea are exploring the city together."

River's eyes lit up. "Can we go find them?" she asked eagerly, bouncing on her tiptoes.
Halmir looked innocently towards the sky. "Better not. If they're exploring the city together, I'm sure they would prefer to be alone."
"Besides," Arthael added, "it will be the middle of the afternoon by the time we return to the palace, and you need something to eat. You're a growing girl, you need to make sure you eat enough."
River blushed faintly. "I suppose I am hungry," she admitted.

"You'll feel it by the time we get back to the palace I'm sure," Lin replied with a chuckle, "You're still excited from playing and clothes shopping."
She knew how children could ignore hunger for a while if something really caught their attention. Lin had been like that too at one point or another.

"Probably," River giggled. She hummed to herself and twirled on her tiptoes. "Do you think if Jess comes to the palace for dinner he would dress up too?"
Halmir grinned at his granddaughter. "You really do have a one-track mind today, don't you?"
River stuck her tongue out at her grandfather. "We're talking about him visiting, and about getting new clothes, and about meals. It follows logically that the question might arise."

"I don't know, at least... probably," Miyuki shrugged.
It seemed like that was what people did when having dinner in a palace for whatever reason. If he didn't have any really nice clothes, she was sure he would dress nicer.
"I guess it depends..."

"Depends?" River asked, tilting her head curiously. "On what?"
"First of all, on whether or not he comes, if the king and queen allow it, and whether his parents will accept," Arthael pointed out logically.
