Lauren looked puzzled at him. At first, she thought he was talking about alcohol but after repeating the word fresh many times she knew he was talking about blood.

What WAS he eating? She thought to herself. Lauren hoped it had been some island animal.

Lauren laughed, still noticeably worried. "Heh, so what did you go and catch huh? A boar? God damn looks whatever it was got as much blood from you as you did it." She decided to play along, to not show her worry. If Tommy was blood hungry for fresh Like he claimed, Lauren sure didn't want this vamp to suck on her neck.

Slowly she walked closer.

Tommy started to move away from Lauren as she came closer, but caught himself in mid-act. Lauren was a friend...right? His mind kept on telling him. Thankfully though, since he had recently fed, the cloud over his mind had started to lift somewhat. He nodded a few times and held his ground, nervously shifting weight from one wing/hand to another. "Yeah, Poombah's laying out there a little ways ******** acted like he didn't wanna be my friend...so I...corrected him," he said with a grin, probably confusing the hell out of Lauren unless she was very familiar with the movie The Shining. Even in his feral state, he still had to relate everything to movies.

"He got those tusks into me a few times...but...oh God, you have no idea...I just have to bite 'em once or twice...and they never stop bleeding...nevernever...just keeps on going. Anti-coagulants...must be better 'cause I'm a big-a** bat'r something...I dunno. But I could feel it, yaknow? The heart slowing down...I could feel it so well..." he looked off over the beach as he recalled this with a grin. The heat-sensors in his nose could feel it as the boar's bloodpressure slowed...slowed...and started to cool as he lapped up the life-blood. It was rapture.

Lauren looked at Tommy with slight disgust. Sure she had killed a boar, but she didn't relish in it's passing like that. Only thing she took the most pleasure in killing were bugs right now.

"I can't say I relate to your... enthusiasm." She said as she approached. "But I think you should stick to things... uh... a little less nasty than boar. I've been hit by one before and it WAS NOT fun."

Tommy shook his head. "Nonono...it went after me...I was trying to find a deer, but heh...most're too fast for me. That boar though, yeah...it struck first. Law of armed conflict 'n all," he said while nodding, "But...goddamn I was so hungry..." He sighed, that wild look slowly but surely draining from his eyes. "I...I'm sorry, Lauren...I dunno what's wrong with me right now.

He nervously looked up and down the beach once more before running the forearm of his wing over the top of his head. He suddenly felt very self-conscious in front of Lauren. He hated the way he looked right now. Between the multitude of scars all over his upper torso to the ugly bat-features...he was tired of it all. And he sure as hell didn't want Lauren to see him like this. He slowly edged away from her, looking more and more uncomfortable as he went.

Lauren reached out as Tommy started edging away, "It's alright. Come on, by the looks of it you need help." She walked closer as he went away, "So can you walk alright by yourself?" she asked with concern. Really she wasn't judging him right now at all, just a concerned friend who didn't want to leave another friend out to die. Sure the whole boar thing creeped her out a little, but she had talked to Jordan about embrassing her animal side, she wasn't going to be a hypocrite over someone else having a totally different animal side to embrasse, no matter how creepy.

He cringed back slightly from her hand, but mantally chastized himself for such a reaction. She's not going to hurt you, Tommy...snap out of it already...she just wants to help. He looked away for a moment before turning his head back to Lauren. Again, he nervously shifted from wing/hand to wing/hand. The strips of cloth from his BDU's which covered his knuckles were soaked with blood.

"Y...yeah, I think so..." he said quietly, "I've been through worse, anyway. Between sharks and dragons, I thought I could handle a boar." He carefully brought the back of a hand up to his eye to wipe away a stream of blood that trickled down.

Lauren frowned at his stuborness "Really to me you don't look you can. Would you rather pass out here and have some lab person take you to the nurse or would you rather let me help?" Her tone made it obvious that she was just as stubourn as he was, if not more so.

"Yeah those boar really are bad a**. Who would of thought a pig could cause so much trouble to islanders?" Lauren agreed. She had one of her worse wounds from a boar during the lockdown and that was a small HURT boar. She had no clue what kind of boar Tommy was against but knew it had to at least not be lame.

Tommy grinned at that. "Wouldn't be the first time," he said with a humorless chuckle. He seemed to be calming down somewhat, those nervous habits quieting themselves as his body responded to a good meal. "But...heh...sure, I'd love some help," he said as he stretched out a wing/hand with a wince.

"Hah...seriously...those bastards are mean as s**t...think I'll stick to the s**t the labs give me instead."

Lauren put his wing hand over her shoulder and tried to help him. He wasn't heavy at all and weighed much less than he looked. She could tell his bones were hollow. "Well finally you give in." She said smileing at him, still a little worried, "No more boar for you, no matter how tasty. Stick to small things like birds or... rabbits maybe? I pretty much stick to reptiles and bugs when I go hunt, maybe the occasional nest." Eggs did sound very good right now. Lauren licked her muzzle at the thought.

Tommy winced once more as his wing was stretched out. The bruising over his arm would probably indicate that he took a nasty hit by said boar right there. Tommy did his best to help her help him up, but was actually quite surprised when she was able to do it mostly by herself. Am I really that light? Christ, I weighed close to two hundred pounds when I first got here...

"Only for you," he said with a wry grin at her first comment. "Hah! You really think I could catch a rabbit like this? My hips are so out of whack right now that the only chance I get at a real meal is if they're injured or attacking me. Goddamn...one more month...I think...That's the time frame, right? I changed...when...s**t..." he trailed off as he shook his head to clear the forming cobwebs, "Near Christmas time...I think."

Lauren walked along with him in tow. She really had no trouble, animal muscle effeciency is tons greater than it was as a human and Lauren definately worked hard at staying in top shape. "Well geuss Mr. Hunter has to be more oprotunistic then. That's alright, you had your fun. Maybe they can raise some live food for you at the labs?" Lauren suggested, "It sure as hell would be safer.

She listened to him ask about his changing, "That's about right I geuss." She realised that was when she had last changed. The labs really were carrying out her serum though, no telling when her next change would be, "Hell geuss we can do it together then, if all goes well for me. Hell I hope to not get into another ******** coma before then." She swore seriously. Just thinking of that nightmare made her shudder. No it wasn't the labs fault, it was her body. Her genetics, perhaps even her FATHERS fault. Not Moreau's at all...

Tommy did his best to not slow her down much, but his body just wasn't capable to move that quickly in this form. "Heh...yeah, I guess. I dunno if they'd do that just for me...though...they did finally install a pullup bar in my duplex. First time I've had a decent night's sleep in forever. I dunno...maybe Sabin'll find it funny enough to get it for me. That man's got a twisted sense of humor..."

He glanced up at Lauren as she answered the question about changing. One month...Christ...though he still considered himself extremely anti-lab...he would be more than willing to get on his knees and beg the labs to inject him and finish the job right then.

"Heh, yeah...I um...if they allow it anyway...I'd like to inject myself, in all honesty. From what I hear this last one's got a bit of...well...finality to it...and I'd rather do it myself if anyone's gonna."

"Woah...waitwait...coma? Christ, what happened?"

Lauren did her best to slow down, but she naturally moved very fast especially in emergancy situations. "I bet they will Tommy." She said reassuringly.

She nodded at his comment of it being a huge one, "I think I changed more steadily than you did. You really don't LOOK that far along." She commented. "So yeah, sorry it's going to hurt like hell." And then he caught her opening her big mouth about the coma. s**t She thought to herself, I just can't keep my big mouth shut "I... fell off a cliff..." Lauren lied. "They couldn't change me when I was unconscious. I was out four months."

It seemed like a good enough lie and Lauren felt comfortable stretching the truth. He really didn't need to know it was her serums fault, that it was Moreau's fault. That all could just be forgotten.

Tommy's head was swimming now that he'd gotten off of the adrenaline high. Slowly, his wounds began to speak to him...then yell...and finally scream. The cuts and scrapes on his shoulders and back hurt the worst, them being on scar tissue. His head though...a headache began to radiate from the still seeping gash on his forehead. Every bump and jostle they made on their journey just made it worse. Where are we going? He thought to himself groggily.

His head perked up as she explained to him at first how much it will hurt...and then about the coma. If he were in any other state of mind, he would have probably been able to tell the lie...but at the moment, there was no way. Four months though? That's...dangerous territory...thought I read somewhere that if you didn't wake up after two weeks you were pretty much a goner.

"Goddamn..." he muttered out, "sorry to hear it...yer lucky though...four months...s**t, that's...that's dangerous territory."

Lauren nodded, "Yeah, the miracle of Moreau science..." Lauren said smiling slightly. She stopped for a momment, "Are you alright?" She wondered if she should stop to bind his wounds, but she wasn't wearing much other than her skull saroung that cold be used as bandages. "s**t, what am I thinking, let me fix use this to stop the bleeding." She tore at the hems in strips and started bandaging the wounds she could decipher around all the blood that covered Tommy.
