Minerva the Bookwyrm MERLIN, Shadow, are you really? Wow! surprised It's not very often that I encounter a girl that's taller than me. lol I'm 5'8". Most women are 5'6".
It must be annoying, being constantly mistaken for being older than you are. I bet kids in school tease you too. Anytme someone has a physical trait that isn't how most people look, then they make fun of them. rolleyes I got made fun of for my pale skin quite a bit. It never bothered me, though, because I've always been particularly fond of my skin colour since all of the medieval poetry describes beautiful women as always being "fair" of complexion. whee
It did bother me when my mum used to urge me to go to the tanning salon, however. evil She was really vain as a teenager, so if she ever thinks there's something "wrong" about the appearence of me or my sisters, she tells because she thinks we want to be told so we can fix it. She used to hate that I refused to wear make-up, but by now she's accepted the fact that I never will. Yup, I'm 5'8-and-a-half" (wasn't sure how to write that.......), and, in college, I'm STILL taller than most girls and a lot of guys. But not the guys on the basketball team. They're a ton taller! I always used to get "tall" jokes, though. And I'm pretty pale, too. I get more tan in summer, but I'm usually very, very fair-skinned, a trait that I used to get annoyed about, because I'm part Native American. I shouldn't be so pale! And part Italian! Mediterranean people are tan! Or olive-skinned. But I've learned to accept it. I guess the German part came out dominant, except in my hair. My hair is auburn-brown, naturally, but I got it dyed red, twice, and am thinking of doing so again, but my parents disapprove. It keeps growing out, though! And, yeah, my mum nags me about my appearance, too, and my attitude. I think it's because she never really felt good about herself when she was a teenager. She wants me to have a different experience, and yet she's trying to live through me at the same time. It's a little bit annoying sometimes. I do wish I didn't have to wear glasses though. I need new ones. This pair is all messed up. Somehow, the lenses got all worn out, like someone put acid or something on them. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen, and I've worn glasses since I was seven, so I should know. And the frames are a little loose at the hinges. Alas, I must find the time to make an eye appointment, and get some decent glasses. No contacts for me. Too much to care for, too much work, and I'd be scared of falling asleep with my contacts in. And Lasik eye surgery is completely out of the question. It's way too expensive! Sorry for ranting. I needed that. And, Super, that's cool with your horse, and I hope you feel better. I used to have a cat named Ringo. What an interesting co-inky-dink! (That's how I say "coincidence". Sorry.......). So, now that I've written a short novel here, everyone wish me luck on my Japanese exam tomorrow, please! sweatdrop I'm kind of nervous! But I think I'll do okay on it. wink I hope. Gah.......... I'm having a Hermione moment. Obsessing over school-work....... Why does that happen to me so very often?!?! *LOL* Again, my apologies for the novel.......... Best wishes to all of you!!!!!!!

I'm about 5'7 maybe a little shorter. My dad is 6'3 and my mom is 5'3 hehe, so I guess I got the best of both worlds. I've always been taller compared to other people until this year when thank God some people finally started to grow. I hated being the 'tall girl.' Haha. I actually have a naturally tan looking skin tone. It comes from my Native American roots, at least that's what I think. I was born blond with deep forest green eyes...and am currently deep brown with natural auburn highlights and half brown half green eyes. My mom is also huge on appearance. She was in the Miss Ohio Padget (came in third) and almost made the DCC squad but didn't have large enough breasts. I however was a 34'B in sixth grade and am currently at a D. Haha polar opposites body wise. She's a short petite little thing while I'm taller and very muscular.
@Wolf I've needed glasses for a long while. If I don't focus my eyes really hard I cant read squat. A very big coincidence!
@Shadow Wow! I think that's brilliant! I Was supposed to age about 5'9 like my aunt but I stopped growing around seventh grade...which doesn't say much since I'm in eighth...haha
@Min I hate it when my mom tries to...make me more to her standers of what she considers pretty. Its somewhat frustrating actually.
You're all naturally beautiful I'm sure! n_n Everyone is for there own special reason!

Haha, I feel like I fit in. I'm 5'9" (still growing razz ) and extremely pale. (Yeah, my grandma was 100% Native American and my brother inherited that trait. People say I look German, yet I don't think I am German hehe. biggrin )
Haha, the only pagaet I've ever been in was a baby show/pageant when I was three months old. I came in 2nd. The funny thing though was the winner was the judge's niece xd (Small town.)
Tsuki, I know it's passed, but I hope you did well on your exam!
anupriyabond, sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better and heal up soon!

Tsuki, my friends took Japanese (mostly because they love anime) and they all said it was a challenge, so I hope you're doing well in it.
I've worn glasses since I was 5. I don't mind having them. I wouldn't want contacts either. I have some mates that have them, and they constantly complain that they're itchy, or that they move around.
Super, it sounds like quite a few of us have mothers that they do. They mean well since they want us to feel pretty and not be picked on, but they need to understand that our definition of 'pretty' isn't always the same as theirs. 3nodding
Suze, are you sure "padget" is a word? confused I think you might mean "pageant," though I've never heard of one of those for babies before.

Suze, are you sure "padget" is a word? confused I think you might mean "pageant," though I've never heard of one of those for babies before. *heh* Well, I'm making B's and C's in Japanese, but I continue to feel rather Hermione-ish, always wanting a better grade. Alas, I think I'm almost as bad at it as Harry is at Potions. stressed Well, I've just got a couple more weeks! Then, I can forget all the Japanese and move on to French (which I took two years of in high school, so it shouldn't be so hard!). YAYZ! School gets out on May 6th, but I'm taking a Maymester course, so, I have to go back to school on May 7th. The course only lasts two weeks though (I think), and it's art-related, so it should be fun! whee And I'm pretty sure that the word you are looking for is "pagent". I was never in a beauty pagent. I was always a tomboy and kind of thought they were for "girly-girls". No offense to anyone. But, I wouldn't have gotten far, anyways. I would have screwed up an interview due to being nervous or a zit would've popped up on my face at the last minute or something....... Just my luck....... But, I've always preferred activities like bike-riding, tree-climbing, drawing, writing, reading, piano-playing, enjoying the outdoors, reading, going to the beach, visiting zoos and museums, and did I mention reading (?). *LOL* I'm such an..... uh, interesting person. (I'm trying not to put myself down as much as I usually do, because people tell me my self-esteem is too low, and that I should be nicer to myself, or something to that extent....... So, pardon if I seem awkward.......).

Wow I feel kinda short you guys... I'm 5'4". My mom is 5'3" and my dad is 6'3" so I only got a little bit of my dads height, I guess... But I'm skinny and I have long legs so it makes me look taller, hee hee. So how are all of my favorite gaia people? And look at what I learned how to do! XD <--------

Except for my allergies....... Those are bothering me really badly....... cry Not sad, but my eyes get all itchy when I have allergies, and it's very annoying!!!!!!! stressed But, enough about me....... How is everyone else?! whee

I am like .000000000016 native American but it doesn't show. I am just pale hehe but I like it. I use my height for a good thing, volleyball!! I amthe schools top middle and in my club. It's fun though. Hehe.
sad ! I have lost one of my best friends a few days ago because of this girl that moved here in the middle of the year. I won't have any girlfriends next year at my school because they are all going off to highschool and now that this friend isn't my friend anymore I will be stuck with my guy friends. And all of my other friends are leaving to the new middle school that is opening.
Sorry I just had to rant a little without anyone yelling at me for complaining.

Don't feel short, Mia. My two female best friends are 5'2". xd Your art is so cute! 4laugh
Tsuki, spring pollen makes my allergies act up too. sad
Shadow, I've always been unpopular in school, and in elementary I lost several "friends" because once they started hanging out with kids that didn't like me they stopped talking to me. When I got to secondary school, I made friends that - like me - cared more about real friendships than being popular. I know it's hard now, but once people get older and more mature you'll find better friends. 3nodding

Haha yeah I guess I will. But I'm just happy that I have alot more friends than they know I do hehe. Oddly though they used to say that they were jealous because I hang out with the popular kids and have alot of guy friends. So I'm looking forward to when I'm going to be a firstformer, or a freshman, in the highschool here at boarding school. Yeah I know that, luckily enough all of my professers say that I hang out with a more muture group of populars. Hehe

Each Gryffindor is entitled to a replica of the House Cup. You can display it in your signature, your profile and your posts, and here is the code for that: http://tinyurl.com/dl4bk6 The House Cup now resides in your Common Room until it is awarded again!

Excuse me? May i have your attention for a moment for a moment and direct your eyes to the Common Room bulletin board. *hangs new notice on the board*
ATTENTION:
Recent changes and actions to be taken:
1- I would like to apologize for my long absence from the common room, as there have been a wave of chaotic, real world, obstacles that required my immediate attention. I shall make more of an effort to look in often.
2- Our own Minerva has graciously taken on the responsibility and has transferred, to become Ravenclaw's new Head of House. I wish her luck and will continuously be working with her.
3- I, Aquajade, your Head of House, feel that we need another Prefect, that will be able to help out, now only our house as a whole, but myself as well.
There will be another post shortly, as to how that will be conducted. I hope that all who think they are able and willing to be a Prefect, to go for it.
4- As there have been and will still be sometimes when I can't or fail to check in for people who can earn Gryffindor house points, I would very much appreciate that any who feel they or someone else is eligible for points, to PM me as soon as possible so that I can check on it.
5- I would like to congratulate Gryffindor on a House Cup win. Congratulations to all who won points and to those who didn't earn points, you can still help us try and win the Spring House Cup.
6- I would still encourage any and all Gryffindor's to particapate in contests and such things, to earn more house points and meet new and other students.
Thank you all. Let's try our best to win the Spring House Cup.
GO LIONS!
