Lin couldn't help but giggle at that comment of Arthael's.
Miyuki though, without a clue what was so funny, hurried over with River to see all the bolts. She liked cloths, they were all so pretty and soft for the most part.
"Okay, Amalirahc are you coming?" she look over her shoulder to him.

Amalirahc wasn't in the least interested in the materials, but after what had happened that morning, there was no way he was going to turn down an invitation from Miyuki.
"I'm coming," he said, more enthusiastically than he felt. He ran after the girls so that he wouldn't be left behind.
River wasn't sure what colour she should choose.
"I don't make sense like most other people," she mused, looking at the various bolts. "My skin is a different colour from most people, even though my hair is like a Light Elf."

Miyuki studied her friend for a moment, "It's not that your don't make sense, it's just you can't do what everyone else does."
She looked back at the bolts of cloth, she really didn't know that much about clothing while she did like it. Her Uncle Helen knew far more and she remembered fussing over which colours would look good with her skin, hair and eyes. Preferably, Miyuki preferred yellow, even though Uncle Helen at once argued she would look elegant in green.
"Probably something light," Miyuki mused, "Something light would look good on you."

"Yeah?" River mused. "Pity Jasmine isn't here, she would love a new dress. And most colours look good on her, she looks like a Dark Elf, mostly. I'm just a big mixup of everything."
She didn't let it bother her, though. She was more or less amused by it.
"What about a lilac or something?" she asked, pointing to a bolt of pale purple silk.

Miyuki nibbled on her lower lip and she looked at it, the lilac was a nice colour and she thought it would look nice.
On the other hand...
Her eyes drifted towards other bolts, the one colour she would never suggest for herself she thought might look good on River.
"Lilac is pretty... maybe a pale pink?"

River had never considered herself a pink person, but then, she had never had the option of wearing anything pink before.
"Maybe we could ask to see," she suggested. "Even if we can just hold the material in front of me or something ..."
The tailor finished what whatever it was he was working on and rose from his seat and stretched.
"Now, how may I help you?" he asked the group amiably.

Miyuki looked thoughtfully, "I don't know, it would be hard to roll it back up if we did."
She had seen her uncle work with those bolts, and it seemed so troublesome because he was always worried about wrinkling the fabric and what not.
Lin smiled, "We would like to have some clothes done for two of the children. Our son..."
She motioned to Andarien who was being held by Earendil.
"Needs some proper fitting clothes, and at least one set of formal wear, and Arthael's granddaughter River, who is looking at cloth with the other children needs a dress for a more formal setting."
She looked over at Arthael to see if she got it right.

"I have a feeling she's going to need more than that," Arthael said flatly. "River's been growing since we left on this trip. At the very least, she needs something to wear for a banquet at the palace, though she probably needs more daily clothes as well."
River hadn't said anything - hadn't even noticed, really - but the bottoms of her pants no longer reached her ankles, and her shirt sleeves didn't quite reach to her wrists either.
"For that matter," Arthael added, "I haven't got anything proper either."
Not even just 'nice'.

Lin looked to River and only when Arthael mentioned it did she noticed that River had indeed been growing. She hadn't noticed that before, then again she tended to be use to very obvious growths.
"Then new clothes for both Andarien and River, with at least one set of formal clothes, and formal clothes for Arthael as well," Lin murmured, "Now I think we have everyone."

"Afraid not," Leyenda put in with a smile. "The only clothes Amalirahc owns are pants, and they're all wearing thin - and he's growing, too. So it's going to be new clothes for him as well."
She pursed her lips, then grinned. "If we all get the clothes we need, we could keep you busy for months, I'm certain," she told the tailor in amusement. "So we'll stop there for now. One pair good pants for Amalirahc."
The poor tailor's eyes were wide, and he was staring at the group in shock and amazement. All this talk of banquets and the palace and so many clothes that were needed ...

Lin laughed sheepishly as she scratched the back of her head, "I forgot how rough constant traveling is on clothes, and it's the first time I've been around children long enough to watch them grow."
She looked back at the tailor, he looked like his eyes were going to bug out from the amount they needed.
"So now I think that is all we need."
Unless Miyuki grew again, which Lin wasn't sure how likely that was.

Measurements were taken, orders were made, and just as the group was heading out of the shop again, Halmir caught up with them, a proud smile on his face.
"Grandpapa!" River exclaimed when she saw him. She ran and threw her arms around his chest in a tight hug. "Grandpapa, I'm getting a dress!" she exclaimed. "And it's going to be a pretty one!"
Halmir laughed and hugged her back. "I'm sure it will be," he grinned at her. He looked at the others. "So everything went well?"

"Yes, ordered quite a number of things, and I think we got everything everyone needed, well just about," Lin chuckled a bit at that.
She hadn't realized how much needed replacing until they were trying to figure out orders.

"Trust me, we didn't," Arthael said dryly. "Leyenda and Kelirahc ordered nothing for themselves, Halmir needs to put in an order-"
"Me?" Halmir interrupted, surprised.
Arthael rolled her eye. "Yes, you. This isn't the only palace we'll be guests at, and you need good clothes for banquets as well."
"Don't I get a say in this?"
"Next time, don't stay back to play ball with a child," Arthael smirked at him, though she knew that hadn't been the reason he had stayed behind.

"Don't worry, it's fun," Miyuki smiled up at Halmir.
Trust Miyuki to think clothes shopping was fun, she didn't even get anything for herself, but she didn't need anything yet.
