Caleb continued to work quite diligently. His eyes began to hang heavily. Snapping back to attention, over read his writing which he noticed, it had turned from formal into a mess, ending with a deep drip of ink on the page. Caleb sighed as he took a different pot and white feather flecked with black. Opening the new pot and dipping the snowy owl quill into the silver white ink. He began to rewrite the original contents of the page on top of the black mistakes.

Kokopelli came out of a portal, and held out a bottle of whiteout. He explained that it would make the mistakes less evident, and it'd be cleaner. Kokopelli found a match, and lit a bunch of candles, so as to increase the brightness of the room, and decrease Caleb's inclination to sleep.

Caleb took the bottle from Kokopelli, opening it, revealing a brush in the stopper like device and an odd white substance that almost looked yellow against his skin, and extremely white against the old tan pages. Caleb, in a good gesture, used the odd substance on the page. "...Why do you help myself? I do not see a reason why."

Kokopelli held up his cowl a little bit to show he was smiling. He indicated that he had no friends besides Caleb, and everyone else was just charity work. He admitted that reciprocating physical intimacy with Ann would be charity work as well, but since it was against ethics, he gave up on it.

"...Do you....love her?" Caleb questioned, rewriting the original contents of the book using his raven quill.

Kokopelli shook his head. As gestured, Kokopelli cannot comprehend what love is, so he concludes that no, he does not love Ann. He thinks of her as an orphan, and has tried to find a home for her, but she is now over legal age, and he thinks she's just helping him out in gratitude.

"Perhaps, not knowing is for the best." Caleb replied. "For not knowing, one is relieved from the pain of loss."

Kokopelli nodded. He said he felt sorry for Ann, a little bit, since she probably doesn't realize that he will never be able to love her. He thinks that maybe it was one of the things that died with his youth, but he doesn't think he could ever care more than platonically.

"...I do believe a part of myself did die when I was younger. The mind has ways for disabling itself, possibly for the better, or worse." Caleb glided a single finger across the page to ensure it had dried.

Kokopelli nodded. He gestured that he feared that one day he'll want or realize something too late, but that would be a fallacy of his mind.

Caleb closed the smaller book and placed it next to his chair. "...I have gone though pain of losing something dear too many times before."

Kokopelli paused. He gestured, 'if it is not too painful, could you elaborate specifically?'

Caleb sighed. "...If I must, then I will...." Caleb straightened himself in the chair. "Back in Venice, during the celebration of Carnivale about 15 years ago, I met...a young girl, same age as myself. We danced, consummated, and I lived with her through the celebration, apparently, a clan of...beings that do not fit well with myself..." Caleb hands tightened into fists. "...Murdered her."

Kokopelli froze in shock. He expressed he was sorry, and then begged that he never tell MoƩ about his other love, since it would make her mental deterioration much, much worse. She was a sensible girl, and headstrong, but she took her feelings too seriously; then again, Kokopelli had no room to judge, as he could not even comprehend love.

"I personally avenged her." Caleb replied. "I never planned to tell her, I never intended to tell yourself until I said the first word."
