skycamefalling Okay, I imagine football practices are pretty grueling, too. It's definitely one sport where people can get injured just as easily in practice as in the game. I put a few people on the sidelines for the rest of the day during practice, one or two for longer than that. Knocked out one kid with a headbutt during a tackling drill because I suddenly got the urge to not just 'be the guy who runs and gets tackled'. Thought that was pretty funny. I'd imagine people get hurt quite a bit in hockey practices as well, but not so much with a lot of other sports since the objective isn't specifically to hit the other guy as hard as you can.

Vizzle - Oh? Well sorry, I'm not trying to be a d**k and call you a liar. It's just that I've never seen a gloves off ( metaphorically ) helmets off fist fight in professional Football... but I see them in almost every single Hockey game.
Jello - Practice is obviously different from in-game, but essentially the idea is to check people as hard as you can. If you can put them down for a few seconds that's the best, because... that's the whole point of you checking someone or putting them up against the boards. The difference is that there are different kinds of checking that will get you penalties because of how dangerous it is. For example, crosschecking.
To be honest, Hockey is probably one of the bloodiest professional sports that you'll see on TV in north america. Not even because of actual violence, but because the really good players will always take one for the team. People have taken frozen pucks to the face, spat out most of their teeth and bled everywhere, and hopped back into the game a few minutes later.
Since the game is constantly evolving ( like I said, back in the day goalies didn't wear masks and helmets weren't even required ) the dynamics are always changing... but that die-hard spirit has and always will be there.

I was kinda going to say the same thing KB said.
I've never seen an actual, helmet-off, bareknuckle fist fight in football, as opposed to hockey.

Not saying anything against hockey. It is indeed a pretty brutal sport.
Which is why all the kids on the highschool football team always played hockey in the winter and football in the fall.

It's a lot less likely to happen in the NFL, but I've seen it happen plenty in high school and football. The rules in the NFL are exactly the same - it just doesn't happen as often. But fist fights (with helmets on) basically happen every down for linemen, because that's how we're taught to hold off defensive players - hit, punch, grab, push, and hit some more. It's not just a random brawl, it's actually just part of the game; entirely different than what they do in hockey. But it's still a fist fight, unless people are suddenly applying the criteria that you cannot wear a helmet in order to punch the ******** out of someone.
That doesn't make the sport any less violent; you don't need to pull off your helmet and punch a guy when it's commonly accepted in the game to run full speed and then lay a guy out so hard he's practically unconscious. Youtube stuff like "hardest football hits ever." Some of those tackles are career ending. Why punch a guy in the face when you can do THAT?

Offensive/defensive linemen are the most physical people in the game most of the time, and we get the least recognition.

I'm definitely not saying that they don't brawl with one another, I'm just saying that when it comes to "fist fighting" the guys who take their helmets and gloves off and go bareknuckle to face are the ones who are... actually fist fighting... and those guys are Hockey players, not Football players. Granted this is a silly argument. 3nodding I'm going to go back to my monster rancher character design.

I still want Square to come out with a stand alone Blitzball game. But I know it will never happen as long as people like FF7 and Kingdom Hearts.

Crawley needs to organize a bad a** kickboxing tournament/event. All the fighting without the grappling and cheap faggotry.
You know what I wanna see?
KILLER INSTINCT 3.
And make it... like... a black cd. Like the black cartridge KI for SNES.

Krausse Kreugar you know what sport is awesome? Blitzball. The only sport where your players hold their breath for an hour and a half. Then halftime.
