Rugby is like Gridiron Lite for me. Less brutality, more endurance.
I like it though, it's entertaining as hell to watch.
EDIT:: I have never even seen a game of lacrosse. It's not played here; the biggest sport in my area is football.

You got your black belt from doing takedowns, sitting on the same position and winning off a point or two?

Lacrosse is like soccer where they beat each other with sticks.

I got it like two months ago.

themightyjello Lacrosse is like soccer where they beat each other with sticks. Is this aforementioned beating more or less violent than hockey. Because my list of team sports in terms of awesome is currently: 1. Gridiron 2. Rugby 3. Hockey 4. Lacrosse

C. Fox:
Yes and no.
I would get a takedown, usually by Judo throw. Get on top and advance to a game winning position like mount or back mount.
I went 35-1 in Grapplers Quest Qualifiers, making me first.
I had 6 submissions.
I went 28-4 in ADCC Qualifiers, with 4 submissions.

Because my list of team sports in terms of awesome is currently: 1. Gridiron 2. Rugby 3. Hockey 4. Lacrosse More hitting with hollow metal sticks. Less slamming into walls. All in all, I say hockey is more violent.

Wait, what.
You either make enough points or SUBMIT the other guy. Like, you have to hold off a position or keep transitioning to keep making points till time's over. At least that's the case here.
You can't tell me ''HEY I'M A BLACK BELT EVEN THOUGH I CAN'T SUBMIT PPL. I JUST THROW AND MOUNT AND AUTO WIN."

Lacrosse F*cking yes it is, It starts the game with a one on one equivalent of the rugby scrum-whatever and we have football style tackles. I've brocken my oak Lacrosse stick on some poor kid's head before and gave the dood a concusion. There are a lot of checks and tackles, and their more frequent than in hockey so I'd say Lacrosse is more violent (I can say this from experience) @ Vansin, not all the sticks are hollow, in fact all 3 of mine have been solid hard red-wood or hickory

Yeah. I'd say Hockey is much more violent than Lacrosse.
But that's because Hockey is as much about body checking and slamming people around (much like gridiron on ice) as it is about the actual game.
Lacross has pads and hollow metal sticks, but I don't think it involves knocking people on their asses because they were between you and where you want to be. Or because they were in the way of the guy who has the ball.
But what do I know, never played it. Spent all my time knocking Tackles onto the halfback.
