"Yeah, that's Lori. Awesome. They must have picked us for our previous experience with you?" Toby tried to reason. He took his spaghetti and went to warm it up in the microwave.
"Of course," Dari said with a slow nod as he sat down at the table. "We only work together. We're also the only 'partner' pair at HQ..."
"That's just because we're special," Toby added.

"I'm glad they did," Maia said. Things would be easier, working with Toby and Lori. She still had difficulty warming up to new people, But she was making progress with that daily.
She glanced at Toby. Special, huh? "So I get to work with my three favorite people," she said, flashing the two of them a smile.

"You flatterer," Toby teased. Sure, maybe Maia needed more practice working with others, but he was glad that they weren't forcing it on her in more facets of her training than simply lab work. Maybe they'd seen that she would thrive.
Toby was the first to stir on Monday morning before the sound of his alarm, first groaning and stretching, then sighing and snuggling up against Maia.
"Tome to get up," he mumbled.

Maia made a sound of protest, opening an eye. "Let's skip breakfast and stay in bed," she said. She snuggled against him. "We can go to the cafe and get something."

"We won't have time if we stay in bed," Toby said. He would. She wouldn't. "Someone I know is supposed to start training today, and it'd be one heck of a bad first impression if she were late."

Maia had forgotten that. She sat up, effectively pulling away from Toby. "That's right." She planted a kiss on his cheek and hurried to go get changed.

Toby laughed as Maia leaped out of bed. He never had that much energy in the morning. He rolled over to silent the upcoming alarm and smiled to his love as he slid out of bed.
"We're not gonna be late. Breathe."

Maia was changing into a blouse and skirt, and only paused to look at Toby. "I know," she said. "But I ought to be early. Its my first day." And she wanted to make a good impression. She sat on the bed and leaned over to kiss him again. "I love you, get dressed."

He laughed again and began to get changed, then padded down the stairs to start breakfast; something quick and easy this time so Maia didn't explode. He wished Dari a good morning as he passed and waited for Maia to make her way down.

After fixing her hair, Maia joined the Two men downstairs. "Good morning Dari!" She looked over what Toby was making. She kissed his cheek.

Toby was in the process of making Maia an omelet. It was protein and energy, both good things for a first stressful day. He leaned over and caught her lips in a quick kiss after she nabbed his cheek.
"Do you want anything on the side?"

Maia smiled at him. "No, it looks good," she said. "Do you want me to make you anything?" she asked, peering into the fridge. She took out an orange.

"No, I've got it," he said, and then rethought his answer. "Some fruit might be nice?" Something about the idea made his mouth water. He blamed Maia at his last full moon. She was conditioning him to be a vegetarian werewolf. He folded her omelet and flipped it.
"Are you excited?"

Maia opened the fridge again and took out a second orange, offering it to Toby. "More nervous," She admitted.

Toby just nodded. He could understand that.
"You're going to do fine." He took the orange and set it aside, flipped Maia's omelet onto the plate, seasoned it a bit more and offered it out to her. "You're gonna start with Lori. You're going to have to memorize most if not all of the fae types. It's just classwork stuff at first."
