Tyra smirked at the boy’s obvious panic. Her heart was beating wildly in her chest as the Ekans’ body coiled around her pokemon. She swallowed hard as she could see the Ekans’ muscles tense squeezing the smaller. She was worried there was no question but she sure as hell didn’t want to share that. She glared through her sunglasses. “JIRO!!” The small Ralts squirmed as much as he could which kept getting less and less with each coil.

The Thunder Wave went over the gecko, the small lizard frozen in spot. The girl trainer bit her lower lip her Treecko wasn’t doing so well. She called out a command and the green pokemon couldn’t move. She caught the look from her partner and shook it off, she wasn’t going to let his emotions affect her fighting ability, no matter if she thought she was over her head. “Looks like our squirts got some good fight in her after all. Taillow quick attack!” The bird pokemon starred at the Pinsir, lowering itself much like a lance. The Taillow in its low crouch moved as fast as its legs could carry it.

Riza was a bit taken aback by how quickly Keegan finished up his meal and she struggled to finish more of hers. There had been more food than she realized and she quickly came to realize she wouldn't be able to finish it. She looked over at Sneasel, who had been sitting quietly the whole time and offered it her, and Sneasel accepted happily, eagerly eating what Riza didn't. "Glad you're enjoying it," she said, leaning back and waiting for Sneasel to eat, which didn't take long at all. When she was finished the dark and ice-type leaned back in her seat, looking quite sleepy now so Riza recalled her. When the waitress brought them their checks Riza took hers and went to pay for it before she headed outside and turned towards the pokecenter. "Shall we get going then?" she asked once the red head had joined her. She was quite eager to get ready as she was sure tonight would be fun. 'I hope it's fun anyway. Keegan could use a night of fun after everything he's gone through,' she thought.

Keegan paid his own bill before he headed outside as well, looking towards the Pokemon Center which was right nearby. "Yeah, let's get to it," he mumbled, starting to head towards the red-roofed building. As much as he still didn't really want to go to this thing he knew he should, and plus the sooner they got there the sooner they could leave.

He entered the Pokemon Center and headed straight to the room he'd reserved earlier that morning, tossing all his things onto the bed as he kicked off his shoes. The garment bag holding his tuxedo seemed to be mocking him from its hook in the far corner of the room, and Keegan glared at it, muttering a few choice swearwords as he stripped down to his boxers and grabbed a towel and his bathroom stuff. He wasn't overly dirty but there was no way he'd be able to get his hair under control unless he washed it, so the shower was his first stop. We wasted too much time in that diner, the redhead thought as the scalding water poured down on him. He washed and rinsed himself fully before shutting off the water and grabbing his towel. After wrapping the towel around himself he shaved quickly, still amazed at the lack of bruises and cuts on his face. At least now he wouldn't look like he'd gone ten rounds with a Hitmonchan and lost, and though he hated her guts, he knew he owed Sheridan big for having her Blissey heal him. He returned to his room to get dressed, though before doing so he stopped to check out the rest of himself in the full-length mirror. Even the bruises on his torso were but a memory now, except for where he'd been smashed with the chair-leg bat yesterday. Those bruises were that ugly shade of brown and yellow, and it only hurt if he really prodded it now. He then got dressed slower than necessary, mostly because he hated dressing up and he was more than certain that the longer he spent trapped in that monkey suit, the greater his chance of ruining it and losing his deposit. Last but not least he then took a comb and gel to his hair, slicking it back so that it wouldn't be in his face the whole time, and then he stood back, quite surprised by his transformation. "Something's missing though," he murmured, looking around the room to try and jog his memory. "Oh right." Sure enough he'd forgotten the black bowtie, and though he knew how to tie it up he hated the way the things made him feel like he was choking. "Ties are for chumps," he grumbled, adjusting it not once but twice before he was satisfied. "Shoulda got a clip-on." This time, as he looked himself over, there was nothing missing from the picture, and he grinned wolfishly at his appearance. "I could be a redheaded Bond," he chuckled, adjusting his jacket a little. "Minus the Aston Martin and harem of beautiful women, of course." Feeling surprisingly confident, he checked the time - six thirty - and headed out to the main room of the Pokemon Center to wait for Riza, not at all surprised to see that there were several others dressed up to a tee, obviously heading to the Gala as well. "This should be interesting," he mumbled, leaning up against the front desk as he waited.
=====
"Heh, we've got you now," the punk laughed, eying up the tiny Ralts as it struggled to move within his Ekans' strong coils. "Now that you've got him trapped, use Bite!" Hissing, the snake lunged towards Jiro, fangs glistening in the sunlight as he prepared to chomp down on the psychic type.

"Now Sparkle, while the Treecko's paralyzed, zap the Taillow with another Thunderbolt if you get the chance!" Miharu called, watching the small bird slam into Petunia again. The Pinsir stumbled back, rubbing the crack on her carapace that had appeared with that last hit. Miharu knew that the Taillow had an advantage over her Pinsir and wanted it taken out before it could do too much damage. She didn't want Sparkle fighting two Pokemon on her own if Petunia were to fall. The Flaaffy waited for the bird to get a good distance from her teammate before she let another bolt of bright blue electricity fly towards the Taillow. Miharu then looked towards the paralyzed gecko, and nodded at Petunia. "Give it another Toss!" she shouted, the strange feeling of confidence welling up inside of her as she watched the Stagbeetle charge at the Treecko, pincers snapping dangerously We've got this, Miharu thought with a light smile. I just hope Tyra and Jiro are doing well too...

Tyra kept her stern face but behind her sunglasses her eyes showed pain and winced as the vicious fangs pierced into Jiro. “JIRO CONFUSION!!” Jiro had been watching the fangs but unable to move as they penetrated into him. A weakness had entered into the Ralts but as the anger swelled inside him the rainbow waves emanated from him to attack the snake. C’mon Jiro, you started this you better finish it! Tyra thought. Hunter howled out fearing for the Ralts, as Freya stood still for a change as worry had entered her. Her eyes looked up at her trainer almost begging to replace the other pokemon. Tyra didn’t want to retort the boy across from her, the fight wasn’t done yet.

The violet eyes watched intently as her Treecko was paralyzed and the Thunderbolt headed dangerously towards her Taillow. As the Pinsir’s pincer’s snapped against her grass pokemon and tossed it aside like nothing. The gecko rolled with the toss and managed to pull itself back up. “Good boy Treecko! Try a quick attack!!” She called out. The little lizard rushed forward with all its might wanting to crash hard into the Pinsir. The blue lighting had hit the Taillow hard. It was the second hard attack the bird took. The Taillow as much as it had a fighting spirit, lied down on the grass out. “Dammit! Return!” The punk trainer pulled out the pokeball and recalled her bird. A white light surrounded the wounded flying pokemon and pulled it back within the ball. Violet eyed girl replaced the pokeball back to its place and glared across at her opponent.

Robin and Luffy watched from the sidelines with an excited look on their face as the seeds soared through the air and towards the Horsea. When the attacks hit Robin couldn't help but feel a surge of pride at how much Brook was growing. "Yoohoo!" She cheered loudly jumping slightly on her little platform with Luffy in excitement. "Great job Brook! I knew you had it in you!" Laughing she looked up at the excited Brook who didn't seem to know what to do now.

Well this was certainly something new and very exciting for Brook, he had never won a battle before. Now that he had he couldn't help but feel like maybe battling wasn't so bad. Sure he would battle for Robin if she asked him to but it had never really been very fun for him. He was still feeling pretty good, not his normal beat up state that was for sure!

Of course Brooks good feeling wasn't going to last long, when Misty sent out her Starmie Brook felt his small body shiver somewhat. For some reason he had a bad feeling about this, not only did this pokemon look super tough but it was really fast to! The Hoppip could only watch as the powerful Swift stars slammed into him.

Robin could only watch and hope that Brook would be all right after that attack. Unfortunately when the explosion died down Brook was falling hard into the water totally knocked out by such a strong attack. Before Brook could hit the water Robin quickly recalled his smoking body. She didn't notice it through all the smoke but both her and Brook were going to be upset after this battle. Putting Brooks pokeball away Robin made to grab Raz's pokeball to send him out when Luffy made a jump to get into the pool. "Oh no you don't Luffy!" Robin yelled as she grabbed onto one of the Amibipoms tails and pulled him back to her side. "I know you are strong and I am glad you want to battle at my side again. However I need to show you my strength and your Nakama's as well." Robin's determined blue eyes. She had to show Luffy and herself that she was strong enough to stand up for herself and all of her Nakama. Ignoring the somewhat disappointed at the lack of a battle look on Luffy's face Robin pulled out Raz's parkball and tossed it out into the battlefield.

The perky Yanma appeared in a flash diving down and skimming the surface of the water sending a fine line of mist into the air. Flying back over to Robin he gave her a confident look, sure he had been in a lot of battles today, and not all of them good for him he was still going to do his best.

"All right Raz, this is a gym battle and you are my last choice in this battle. I know you can do it so lets show the spirit of our souls!" Robins voice was strong and determined as she held her fist up in determination, no she wasn't taking poses from anime, ok maybe a few.

"Hm? Now where do you think she's going?" Seated at the picnic table now was a girl, the same age as Katie, her long, lavender hair hair pulled back into a neat ponytail at the nape of her neck. She wore her white blouse open over a light-purple tank top and she also wore dark slacks, as well as fashionable sandals. Curled up on her lap was a purring Glameow, and the feline tilted her head in the direction her trainer indicated. "Let's go," the girl said, grabbing her bag and standing up, though her Glameow let out a very disgruntled mewling sound as she was forced to leave the warmth of her trainer's lap, though she followed after her with silent steps.

"Hey, wait up!" the girl called, jogging after Katie. "That thing you made for your egg! It's really neat," she added, falling into stride alongside the orange-haired girl. "I bet you could sell those things like hot cakes to Pokemon breeders." She moved ahead a bit to block Katie's path and extended her hand. "Name's Lilah. I saw you with your Pokemon earlier, and I thought it was neat how they both evolved like that. I've got a Pokemon of my own that's just evolved, and I was wondering if you'd like to battle me? C'mon, it'd be fun!" she prodded, certain the girl would say no. Glameow sat down at her trainer's heels and began to lick at one of her paws, obviously not caring at all about what happened next.

It wasn't too hard to find the entrance to Granite Cave, as there were plenty of signposts pointing the way, and after about half an hour of walking Jaeshan found himself at the mouth of the cave. "Here we go," he mumbled as he stepped inside, surprised to find that inside, it was actually bright enough to see. Jaeshan gave a low whistle as he looked around, idly wondering what sort of Pokemon dwelt within this cave. The answer to that question would come quite quickly though, as Jaeshan slowly made his way around a large stalagmite a horrible screeching filled the cavern. Covering his ears with his hands Jaeshan looked up in time to see a Zubat diving at him, fangs bared. "Augh!" he cried, ducking as the bat passed by overhead, but quickly came around to try and take another bite out of him. "Metang, help me out," he mumbled, fumbling for the proper sphere. The Iron Claw Pokemon appeared in a flash of light and gold and silver sparkles, his red eyes glowing lightly in the dark as he spotted the Zubat zipped towards his master. Metang quickly rose up into the air and put himself between the attacking Zubat and his master, lashing out with a Metal Claw as the bat bounced comically off his face. The bat flailed its wings but flew right back, now trying to bite Metang.

"Confusion," Jaeshan said, keeping his voice low as not to attract other Pokemon within the cave. Metang nodded and unleashed a wave of psychic energy at the bat, which was more than enough to get the message across and the small winged creature flew back up to the ceiling, shrieking something awful at Jaeshan and Metang before it ducked behind a stalactite to hide. "Great, Zubat," Jaeshan muttered, deciding to keep Metang with him so long as he was exploring this cave.

Before entering the city limits again Maven recalled the Ponyta and the Vulpix. Placing the pokeballs on her belt she re-entered Saffron. She was always so careful with her pokemon within the city limits. She headed towards the train station. The crowded streets of Saffron always put her a bit on edge, she never did handle crowds well. She never handled people well. She kept her head low and her brown hair fell to hide her face a bit. She was careful of where she was going, after years of always walking this way, it was easy to weave through people.

She was heading towards the train station to pick up her ticket. She was halfway there and she noticed she was having trouble breathing. Her brown eyes darted along the street and they fell upon the familiar figure of Blaine. She hadn’t seen him since her school days. Her memory kicked in over everything he had done to her over those years. She noticed an alley way even though her eyes could see the station she ducked into the alley. She leaned against a building and pulled out Phyra. The ponyta sensing her friends fear nuzzled Maven’s shoulder for support.

“Thanks Phy. Needed that. Now I’m going to have to put you back...I’ll be fine, promise. I’ll pull you out again when we get to Celadon.” Maven said and pet the ponyta’s nose softly. Feeling the velvety fur under her palm calmed her down considerably. Phyra returned to the ball and to the belt.

Taking a deep breath Maven thought of Keegan and Kasiya and how brave both were. Knowing they wouldn’t let anything stop them she pushed herself out of the alley. Her two friends wouldn’t let anything stop them so why should she? She walked passed him thankful that she knew how to meld with crowds and how to get ignored. Sighing heavily as she entered into the station. She leaned against the wall calming her heart and breathing before she went out to the loading dock.

“Well should’ve checked the schedule before...” Maven muttered as she noticed the next train would be a while. Her eyes fell upon a bench and she took a spot on it as she pulled out one of her pokemon books. She opened to the spot she had left off. Before reading too much she pulled out her little note book and pen to make notes. She wasn’t about to let her breeding studies drop.

The walk was excruciating. "I've decided I freaking hate heels," Sam moaned. The little strappy navy blue heels she had bought were digging into her heels, and she had already stumbled twice. She was worried she would get her dress dirty before she even got to the Gala. She was convinced something was going to happen to her dress that night. Orion, looking quite smashing in his very classic tuxedo, snorted.

"And that is reason number 192 why I was glad I was not born a girl. I never have to wear those torture devices." Sam glared at him. She stumbled again.

"Screw this!" she screamed as she pulled off the heels. Orion glanced at her, fearing she had gone off the deep end.

"Um...Sam? You know we're in a public place right? Like, on the street?"

"I don't give a crap!" She proceeded to walk on barefoot through the streets of Lilycove, while holding her heels and her pokeballs in one hand and her dress in the other hand, to keep it from dragging on the ground. Although she greatly admired the beautiful dress, it wasn't at all practical for her. She would've been much better off buying a shorter dress, a more evening gown type. This dress was strapless (another problem), and it gathered slightly at her midsection, then proceeded to fill outwards. It was more of a ball gown then anything else, and Sam was very quickly feeling foolish for wearing it. They had seen other people dressed for the Gala, and Sam was definitely on the bolder end of style. Several people were staring at her, although her lack of shoes were probably a contributing factor. She was having a hard time holding everything, so she stuck Star's and Miles' pokeballs in one of the folds of her dress.

"Do you want me to hold onto those?" Orion asked, discombobulated. In his expert opinion, he believed Sam to be a total nutcase right now. Sam merely sped up for an answer. She could see the lights of the Contest Hall ahead of her. She began to hear the noises from the Gala. She stopped dead in her tracks as she realized she was heading into an enclosed space with a bunch of people she didn't know...They might be analyzing her, making fun of her...Her old friend paranoia crept into her thoughts. Orion, completely unaware, proceeded right past her, nearly making it to the door until he realized she wasn't following. She was frozen in place, refusing to budge either way. She couldn't go back, then she would look like a fool, and she would feel ashamed. But she couldn't go in either, all those people judging her...She shook her head, some of the pinned curls coming loose. Suddenly, her hair was all that bothered her. She took out every single bobby pin in her hair, until her semi-curly hair was left floating free. It somehow helped her, enough that she could get to the door, where Orion stood watching her, concerned and, quite honestly, afraid. Sam breathed deeply, clenching her hands tightly as she inhaled, and letting go as she exhaled. 'The three R's,' she reminded herself, 'Relax...Reassess...Repeat'. She closed her eyes, and forced herself to accept that no one was really going to be judging her, after all no one knew her here. She was a nobody...No, wrong train of thought. She could be anybody. Anybody she wanted. She put on a smile, though she was sure it seemed a bit strained to everyone else.

"No problem...No problem at all," reassuring herself as much as Orion. She put the torture devices a.k.a the heels back on. Light flooded outward from the doorway. "And here we go..." she muttered to herself in a sing-song, as she ignored her last chance at escape.

"All right Starmie, that's the way!" Misty cheered, though she did feel a little bad for the Hoppip. It wasn't a Water-type Pokemon but it was still quite cute. "Your Hoppip put up a good fight," she called, quite impressed with her challenger so far. She was eager to see what Robin would send out, and her Starmie seemed to be just as eager. The Mysterious Pokemon hopped out of the water and onto the platform beside the gym leader, and both looked towards Robin. However, Misty's enthusiasm faded a bit and her cheeks turned a whiter shade of pale when she saw the bug appear. Why did it have to be a bug?! she thought, but she closed her eyes and swallowed hard. Okay Misty, no big deal, we can do this... She looked to her Starmie and smiled before turning her gaze back to Robin. "Round three begin," she said with a nod. "Care to have the first attack?"

Riza also found herself a room to get herself ready in, and she too quickly headed for the shower. She easily took a lot longer in the bathroom than Keegan did, and she felt mildly bad for making him wait for her, but she hoped he'd realized it was worth the wait when he finally saw her. Wrapped in a fluffy pokecenter robe, now with her hair and makeup done, she dashed back to her room where her evening's attire was waiting for her, and she took a moment to admire her gown before actually putting it on. It was blood-red in colour, which Riza had chosen on the sheer fact that it wouldn't clash horribly with Keegan's red hair, and the long, flowing silken skirt touched the floor and billowed out elegantly around her when she spun, it was the perfect dress for ballroom dancing. The top was done in a strapless, semi-corset style and laced up in the back, with lace and embroidery lining the top, and she had to get one of the other girls to help her get it done up properly. From there it was a simple matter of adding the finishing touches. She put on a matching choker and earrings before studying her appearance in the mirror. Her dark hair was down, with soft, gentle curls tumbling down her shoulders and back. "Perfect," she giggled, blowing a kiss to her reflection before she put on her lace-up shoes. She also moved various important items to a small matching purse, like her wallet, phone and pokedex as well as the three pokeballs that held Sneasel, Kirlia and Corphish. She couldn't imagine leaving them behind.

Deciding that she was finally ready she stepped out into the main lobby of the pokecenter, looking around the various other people who were dressed up for the gala before her sights came to rest on the red head. When she finally saw him she had to do a double take, her eyes widening in surprise as she hardly recognized him without rips in his clothing and his hair slicked back. He looked quite fine in his rented tux even though she was sure he was hating every moment of it. Smiling broadly she strode towards him, her dress swishing elegantly around her legs with each step. "You clean up nice," she commented, which in fact was a big understatement. "Actually, you look quite dashing," she said honestly after a moment or two, blushing a little. She quickly shook it off and twirled around for him, showing off her glamorous ballgown. "So...what do you think? You like?" she asked, feeling a little giddy with excitement.

Katie cringed a little when she heard someone calling after her but she kept walking, hoping that they weren't actually talking to her. But then the voice made mention of her egg carrier and she sighed, slowing her pace a little. 'Why can't people just mind their own business?' she thought, stopping abruptly as the lavender haired girl cut her off, and she folded her arms crossly. "Oh, great you saw that humiliating display," Katie grumbled, reluctantly shaking Lilah's hand. "Katie, and no, I don't really feel like battling right now." She looked down at the Glameow skeptically. As far as she knew, Glameow evolved into Purugly and that was it, though she figured that this Lilah girl had other Pokemon. Katie wasn't too fond of Glameow though, as her mother had one of those as well, and she spoiled it more than she did that annoying Pikachu of hers. Katie thought she felt the egg wriggle when she thought of her mother's Pokemon in reply.

Katie sighed, continuing to look down at the Glameow. "Okay, fine. Let's have a battle already. But if I win you have to leave me alone." She reached into one of the hidden pockets of her specially-made dress and withdrew Noa's pokeball, though she didn't release the Staravia right away. "So? Do you want to battle or what?"

Robin stared across the battlefield at the Starmie that was standing next to Misty. It was kinda pretty what with the big jewel on it and everything, it also kinda looked like the star thing she used earlier. Maybe the two were related or some sort of evolution? Robin really had no idea and she wasn't exactly the brightest bulb in order to not really make that connection. Still smart or not the girl wasn't about to order Raz to attack the other pokemon when it was right next to Misty. Maybe she could use Double Team or something? She liked that move it made all those cool copies of Raz. "All right Raz lets start this off with your Double Team!"

Double Team? Yeah he could do that, heck he usually used Double Team when he was battling with Robin, it had almost become like a sort of reflex for the Yanma. Vibrating his body Raz created a few extra copies of himself, all of them now flying around the water arena. Looking down at the water and the starfish like pokemon Raz had a feeling that he might have a little trouble hitting the thing.

Above all else...

Travis left Cerulean City at a quick pace, knowing at any moment the swishy barber would pick up and read one of the newspapers then call the police on him. Well, most likely anyway.
He did seem to like me... Travis mused as he hiked through the low hills to the West of the city. Behind him the sun was rising and the weather was turning warm. Thankfully deep shadows were thrown onto his path by the hills and scrubby trees so he wasnt' too warm just yet. Somewhere nearby was Mt. Moon, the site of a failed Team Rocket attempt to steal the moonstone and capture some Clefairy. He had heard about the botched attempt and tunnel collapse a week or so ago and wondered what kind of Pokemon trainers were out there nowadays who would willingly fight Team Rocket to a standstill. Smiling and shaking his head and their foolishness, or was it bravery? he pulled out the Machop's Pokeball and tossed it on the trail ahead.

"C'mon out little buddy." he called as the flash of white light released the sleepy Pokemon. It blinked and looked about then fell into step beside Travis, obviously enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
"Maaachop." it sighed happily, closing its' eyes and breathing deeply. Opening its' eyes it smiled up at Travis then poked his packsack, now bulging with supplies. It quirked an eyebrow. "Machop?"
Travis grinned. "Yes I paid for this stuff. I even got you some things." The Machop smiled widely and patted the back of Travis' hand while the man unslung the pack and began to rummage inside. "I know I picked up some Pokemon food and--Waugh!"
Travis pitched forward and sprawled on the trail having caught his foot on the edge of a large rough stone he didn't see sticking out of the ground. The packsack went flying and scattered his supplies all over the trail ahead, apples and cans rolling in the dirt.
"Machop!" the little fighter cried, helping Travis to his feet. With its' great strength it practically lifted the former Rocket right off the ground with one heave in its' excitement. "Ma, machop! Chop!" it jabbered, pointing at Travis' skinned and bloodied knee and hands.

"Yeah, I know, I see it." Travis grumbled, picking out bits of gravel from his palms. His knee stung but at least the cut was shallow. Great, just great. A bruised and swollen knee is EXACTLY what I needed today! Pain in my a**... Travis seethed inwardly, then aimed a kick at the rock that tripped him. He checked the swing though and nearly fell again as the rock rose up out of the earth and opened its' eyes. Dust and gravel fell off as two thin arms also made out of stone unwrapped themselves from the stone 'body'. A mouth with a definite frown could also be seen, the lips thick and blocky. Its' angry gaze fell on Travis and his raised foot then it rushed forward, knocking the human back to the ground.
"Geo-dude!" it cried as they connected, Travis falling onto his back with a startled yelp. The little Machop leapt forward and aimed a kick at the rock Pokemon, pushing it away from his master.
"MACHOP!" it yelled loudly, positioning itself between the wild Pokemon and Travis. It set its' feet in a fighting stance and held one arm out towards the Geo-dude, motioning with two fingers for it to come forward if it dared.

Above all else...

Oh s**t! A Geo-dude! That thing could kill me! Travis thought, crab-walking backwards away from the two Pokemon. His knee throbbed with every movement so he stopped as soon as he felt some shade on his head. Around him the debris from his packsack was ignored as he watched the Geo-dude appraise its' opponent. The rock Pokemon hovered in the air at his Machop's eye-level, its' surprisingly expressive face revealing a hesitation to attack. Machop stood solidly waiting to see what it would do and Travis nodded.
"Machop! Focus your energy! It might still take a run at you!" he called out, hoping the small fighter would listen. The Machop shook its' head and instead gave a confident grin. The Leer did its' work and the Geo-dude frowned even more deeply, a shudder running through its' hovering body.

Without warning it rushed through the air and bashed directly into Machop with a Tackle attack, knocking the small blue Pokemon back a step. Leaping into the air Machop retaliated with a Low Kick in a similar move to breaking Travis out of his cell. The kick hit the hard skin of the Geodude and left a small dent where the heel had connected. Machop landed on his feet in a crouch near Travis, one small hand rubbing where the Geodude's tackle had hit. The Geodude backed away then wrapped its' long arms around itself, executing a quick Defense Curl to heal what the Leer had done. The Machop grumbled at this and looked at Travis for support.
"Now will you Focus?" he asked impatiently, gesturing at the well armored Geodude, now with a grim smile on its' face. Machop nodded and bowed its' head a moment, a small shimmer of light gathering in its' chest. Lifting its' head it looked at the Geodude with narrowed eyes and rose from the crouch, gesturing again with one hand. The Geodude bellowed again and rushed forward to try and Tackle, the cry echoing in the hills.

"Machop! Get out of the way!" Travis instructed sharply and the Machop obeyed, dropping swiftly to the dirt to let the Geodude pass harmlessly above. Machop was back on his feet in an instant and aimed a Low Kick to the confused Geodude, its' opponent having seemed to disappear. The kick hit Geodude square in the back and the rock Pokemon flew forward, bashing into the side of a hill to Travis' left. It pulled itself out of the mess of dirt and sand that rained down and turned, arms outstretched towards Machop. Obviously enraged, the wild Pokemon swooped in for another Tackle attack, this one clipping Machop on the shoulder as it attempted the same drop maneuver as before. Rolling in the dust Machop came back to his feet and Leered again, a ferocious frown that made the Geodude shudder.

Off to the side Travis watched the fight, amazed at the hidden strength posessed by his Pokemon. Tough little guy! he thought to himself as the two Pokemon made another pass, this time the Machop landing a devastating kick to the Geodude's bottom as it passed over. Bits of debris from the Geodude fell onto Machop but he brushed them off, ignoring the large purple bruises forming on his skin over his chest and shoulder.
"C'mon, Machop! Finish him!" Travis yelled in encouragement. "One more kick should do it!" One more tackle might be your last as well... he added with a woried frown.

The Geodude bobbed in the air, its' mouth hanging open as it gasped.
"Geo-dude. Geo-dude." it panted, gathering its' strength for another tackle. Machop faced the wild Pokemon but its' bravado was fading. As if on signal the two Pokemon rushed towards each other, their voices raised in challenge.
"GEEEEEEOOOODUUUUDE!!!!!"
"MAAAAACHOOOOOOP!!!!"
"GEEEEOOODUDE!"
"MAAACHOP!"
"GEODUDE!'
"MACHOP!"
"GEO-"

SMASH!

There was a collosal collision as the two Pokemon came together, the Machop aiming a Low Kick directly at the Geodude's face and the Geodude simply barrelling into the fighter. Both attacks hit but the Machop's had just a little more power behind it, a little more determination, sending the Geodude backwards in a skid along the ground. The force of the impact between the two, however, shuddered through the Machop and it landed in a heap nearby. Travis was on his feet and limping to its' side in an instant, turning over the battered Pokemon over to check its' injuries.
"Ma...machop?" it said weakly, gesturing at the fallen Geodude, motionless in the dirt.
"Huh? Forget about that thing! Are you ok?" he asked, relieved to see that though the Machop had taken quite a beating it would likely recover without needing a Pokemon Center. The Machop frowned and gestured again. "Machop."
Travis looked over at the Geodude finally and was pleased to see it not moving. "Yeah, you got it. It's down for the count, Champ." The Machop nodded weakly and sighed, closing its' eyes to rest.

After recalling Champ into his Pokeball Travis gathered up the rest of the supplies, keeping one eye all the time on the fallen Geodude. Unnoticed before, a number of Pokeballs had been hidden in his pack and he picked them up one by one, putting them all back in the pack, except for one. This one he held and tossed up and down speculatively, looking at the unconsious Geodude.
"The more the merrier I guess." he finally said, tossing the Pokeball to capture the Geodude. It hit and flashed open with a shining red light, pulling the Pokemon inside. The ball only rolled about for a few seconds before giving a quiet click, indicating the Pokemon was caught. Travis limped over and picked up the ball, putting it in his pocket with Champ.
"What a day. And it's not even lunchtime yet!" he groaned, shouldering the pack and continuing further into the hills.

may you know joy

"That's the spirit!" Lilah laughed, seemingly oblivious to Katie's grumpy mood as she lead the way towards a clearing, away from buildings and roads and other people. "Fine, fine, if you win, I'll leave you alone. But if I win," Lila grinned cheekily as she dropped her messenger bag to the ground by her feet, "then you've got to hang out with me for a while." She looked down at her Glameow and nodded. "You're up first, Glameow! Let's show 'em your stuff!"

A shrill meow escaped the feline as she took position in front of Lilah, her extremely curly tail twitching in anticipation. "Since it's my challenge, you get to make the first attack!" Lilah called, placing a hand on her hip. She'd seen Katie's two Pokemon battling each other before and she knew they were tough, but that didn't stop her from wanting to test their mettle herself.

As soon as Robin asked her Yanma to use Double Team, Misty's Starmie moved towards the edge of the platform, it's "face" seemingly focused on the Clear Wing Pokemon. Misty flinched a little as more images of the little flying bug appeared in the air, but she remained tough. "Only one of them is real," she told herself. "Only one real bug in my gym..."

Closing her eyes, Misty sighed. "Okay Starmie, start off with Harden!" she said, clenching a fist at her side. The Mysterious Pokemon's core gem flickered brightly before it's whole body took on a shimmer. The outer shell covering the star-shaped Pokemon grew harder which would make it slightly more difficult for the Yanma to deal damage to it. Yeah, we can do this! Misty thought, though she wouldn't be sad to see Robin walk out of here with her coveted Cascade Badge.

Okay, things were not looking so good for Sasha. Sure, the last attack Ampoule landed was a doozy, but she was still severely outmatched in terms of type disadvantage. Plus, the pervert seemed to somehow have a bit of a brain under that titanium plated skull. Shiftry's Giga Drain hit, sucking the energy out of her poor little Lanturn. Ampoule struggled to stay up, but that last hit was just too much. With a weak bellow, she flopped onto the ground, followed by a hasty return.

"L'heure de la sieste ma chère." Sasha said softly, gently placing the Pokeball in her bag. "Don't think I've given up yet you apostat. I'm just getting started, and there's no way I'm going out on a date with you!" She chose to let out the kiss part, hoping the boy would forget if she pretended like he never said it in the first place. Oh please, please have the memory of a goldeen. Please. she pleaded to no one in particular.

Sasha was determined to win, partly due to her competitive nature, but mostly due to how downright repulsive Maz was. After briefly rummaging through her bag, she took out another Pokeball. Her Pokedex's mention of Shiftry's aversion to Bug moves got her thinking. "Laissez-nous aller Prickles!" A bright flash of light revealed Sasha's loyal Cacturne, still nibbling on the burger from the day before, showing a marked disinterest in the battle at hand. "Mon dieu Prickes," Sasha exclaimed, rubbing her forehead in annoyance. "I know that you're a slow eater, and I admire your new-found appreciation for beef products, but finir le putain de hamburger!" With a surprised jump, Prickles quickly downed the remaining 1/54th of a full patty and readied himself for battle. Sasha let out a heavy sigh. "Just do a Dard-nuée, okay?"

With surprising agility, Prickles raised his arms, and pointed them directly at the opposing Pokemon. The thorns on the end of his arms extended out, becoming longer and thinner before shooting out at an alarming speed. After the initial volley, new thorns quickly took their place and were subsequently fired until five volleys had been launched towards the Shiftry.
