"We're going to go into the walls?" Lin asked blinking.
They had to be pretty big walls if they were going to go into those, she couldn't imagine it.
"Yay! Tap tap tap, more walls," Nina grinned she hadn't been in the walls singing tap tap tap in a long while.
Pity the servants.

"You have to be quiet, though," Earendil warned Nina pointedly. "If you make noise, it would defeat the whole purpose of it."
His gaze shifted to Lin as he started up the stairs. "Yes," he replied, "into the walls. There's a lot of space between some of them, and it's a good way to get from one place to another without being seen, if you want to."

"Oh.. well I've never been into a wall before... okay!" she replied waiting to see what would happened, maybe it would be quite useful to be inside a wall.
"I'll be quiet... quiet quiet like a mouse... quieter than a mouse," Nina replied lowering her voice and creeping along.

"Well if you want to be technical," Earendil amended, "we won't be in the walls ... we'll be between them."
Since it seemed he had only confused the poor girl. He grinned at Nina in the blackness - there were no torches in the stairwell - and continued the trek upwards.

"Oh...." Lin thought for a moment trying to peer through the darkness and not having any luck doing so, she wished she had brought along a flashlight or something.
She hadn't thought of that.

"We're nearly there," the youth assured them. "Just follow my voice ... or would you prefer if I made some light?"
He asked that as an afterthought, since to him it was second nature, going up the stairs and through the passages in the dark. It hadn't occured to him until now that others might not be quite as comfortable in a strange place in the pitch blackness.

"Light would be good," Lin replied from the darkness as she kept looking behind herself.
Thinking that maybe she would get ambushed by anything living in the walls, after all, something had to be living between them right?

Earendil nodded and took a deep breath, then closed his eyes and concentrated. A moment later, his entire body started glowing blue, illuminating him and the area close around him. Once his eyes had adjusted, he was able to see not only himself, but Lin's and Nina's silhouettes, as well as the walls nearest him.
"Better?" he asked. The light was dim, he knew, but he could only expend so much magic before it started sapping his energy too quickly.

Lin reached out and poked his leg," You're a firefly, only prettier," she commented.
What she meant by prettier would be beyond some people including herself, but he was pretty (could that even apply to a guy?), and he was glowing... like a firefly. That summed it up.
"Much better," Nina replied.

Earendil chuckled. "Perhaps sometime, when I'm rested again, I can show you some of the things I can do," he suggested, starting up the stairs once more. "If you like this, you'll really like the other things."

"What other sort of things?" Lin asked.
After all she had never asked her big sister of the things she could do, never occured to her to do so. Not when she had nieces and nephews who were fun to play with. When they weren't cracking heads on anything...

"Well, now," Earendil chuckled. "I suppose you'll just have to wait and see, won't you?"
He raised his eyes to see how much further they had to climb, and was pleased to see that it was only about one more storey's worth of steps. Nearly there.

"So I have to be patience," Lin pouted.
Well she would have to learn how to, her Daddy was very very patience, and it would pay off. Though, Lin hadn't learnt that part quite yet.

"Exactly," Earendil nodded as they reached the door. He turned to make sure that Nina and Lin were directly behind him.
"For us to get out of here," he warned them, "I have to get rid of the light for a moment. Is that all right?"

"All right...." Lin murmured.
It shouldn't matter after all she was on top of Nina, so that was good, it wasn't like she was going to get lost.
