"The pleasure would be all mine," added Faust, shooting the scariest look he could manage at Hao. "And if there's damage... well, we'll work through it!" he said with his characteristic determination.

"Don't you know who I am?!" Faust asked angrily. "I've slaved my entire life to become a doctor, and if you've seen a better physician, then you can't have seen him around here!" Not allowing himself to get too distracted by Hao's taunts, he stroked Netsubo's cheek gently with his knuckles.

"Of course she is," mumbled Faust. "Did you think I'd let her die?" He pressed down gently on Netsubo's forehead to keep her from sitting up immediately. "You can't talk because we had to perform a tracheotomy. Sorry about that. But for yes, blink once, and for no, blink twice. Can you see me clearly?"

As soon as Netsubo was beginning to wake up, Shizuka had rushed to her side. A part of her was relieved that her friend was alive, but the other part knew that only half the battle was over.

Shizuka did it for him. At this point, she just wanted to do anything to make sure her friend was okay. Not to mention she needed to see if it worked...
Netsubo-chan, do you feel alright?

It'll pass, don't worry. I can tell that it's already getting better. I was getting scared a bit that you weren't gonna make it. But you proved that my worries were wrong.

Faust lifted Netsubo gently off the ground with Shizuka's help, bending his knees and compromising his height slightly so that he could keep her head and neck level. "Manta, there's a collapsible hospital bed in my room... will you go get it?"
Manta ran to get the bed. Faust lay Netsubo on the clean white sheets, straightening the various wires and cords of the ventilator.
