The lokai's ear cones twitched a bit at the mention of Tamale's name. He sneered a bit. "Tamale sent you? Pah! Like he actually found anyone on that fool's errand of his. The seschen all but declared him a traitor, and would have if he wasn't the Emperor-King's brother."
The human guard swallowed a huge wad of meat. "Lay off, Rawn. Tamale's a good man. He's always done right by me, and where would we be if he hadn't lead the defense at the Battle of the Broken Spine, eh? All dead and overrun by barbarians, that's what! And if he thinks that these...pillar...column...whatchas can help, then, by the Lady, I intend to believe him!"
The lokai, Rawn, sighed and rubbed at his chin-beard. "Ah, sorry, Uri. I just get worked up about it, that's all. He left us when we needed him most! I..it's just disappointing, that's all."

Ko'tahl nodded. "Tamale was a good man. He traveled very far to seek me out and bring me here. He fought hard and bravely. I intend to continue what he set out to do." Ko'tahl took a quick glance at his smaller companion. "I was brought here because I am the one who can help the most and this young one, Liana, was brought along to help."

Liana said nothing. It seemed that saying anything in front of these gentlemen was taboo, in a sense, especially when it came to Tamale. She only hoped that no one would ask where he was, because that was something no one should have to answer, especially strangers, like herself.
If Tamale was still alive, she hoped that he would materialize and make everything better, but that was a hope meant for children, so she swallowed the idea and thought nothing more about it.
