After that *ahem* good night, the small mouse slept very well all night long. "Nngh..." That is, until events from his past surfaced in vivid nightmares, causing him to toss and turn, and mumble mostly incoherent thoughts and words. He reached up and grabbed a random pillow and pulled it over his head, holding it tightly as he curled up, continuing to mumble things to the imaginary figures no longer in his life. "No, no I did'n do it, no.." The figures came closer, and the poor little hybrid kicked his legs out before his eyes snapped open, and he shot up to a sitting position, the pillow still grasped tightly in his small hands. His eyes wide, lips parted, and his breathing a bit heavy, he stared at the wall for a few moments as he slowly calmed down slightly, before he hugged the pillow to his chest and curled up on the bed, eyes shut tight with his ears pinned back to his skull.

Coen woke up on the floor. 'Now how in hell did I end up down here?' he mentally questioned himself then shifted, wincing. Wondering why he ached so, he peeked at his side and, despite the poor light, found several small bluish-black blotches. Thoroughly confused by this point, the lion sat up and his ears swivelled toward the bed. When he realized the sounds he heard were coming from Jazz, Coen got to his feet just in time to see the mouse quickly sit up then slowly sink back down. "Mousie, are you alright?" he asked gently, getting back into bed carefully and reaching over to touch the smaller hybrid's shoulder.

The poor mouse froze when he felt the lion touch his shoulder, and it took a moment for the words to register, but when they did he slowly managed to relax--for the most part--his tensed muscles, and turned his head slightly to peek at the lion. His ears were still pinned to his skull, and despite the look on his face that spoke of a mixture of fear, worry, and depression, attempted to smile up at his kitty cat. "No, I'm fine.. I just had a... really bad dream.." The last few words were forced out after a pause; the mouse had tried to think of what to say, but quickly decided to phrase it like that instead of going into detail. He reached up to run a hand idly through his hair as he took a deep breath to calm himself, his ears managing to perk up a little bit and the strange mix of emotions only partially vanishing from his face. Worry, however, became the more prominent feeling as he gazed up at the larger hybrid. "Did I push you off the bed, kitty cat? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... Are you okay? You didn't get hurt too badly, did you?"

Coen knew there was more to it but he let it alone, given how upset Jazz already was. Instead he held his silence and watched the mouse with a sympathetic expression. When the topic of conversation turned to his rude awakening, Coen smiled and shrugged it off then reached out and started to rub Jazz's ears. "I'm not hurt at all so no worries."

Jazz listened to the lion carefully, trying to concentrate on the other hybrid's words than on his dream. "I'm sorry that I--ooh.." He melted the instant Coen began to rub his sensitive ears, his eyelids fluttering as he relaxed completely. He wrapped his arms around his love's neck and buried his face into Coen's broad chest, closing his eyes. "I'm sorry I hurt you, Coen. Are you sure you're all right?" Coen rubbing his ears was very distracting, but at the moment, that wasn't a bad thing. He managed to peek up at the larger hybrid curiously, feeling much better. "What would you like for breakfast, love?"

"I'm sure," Coen reassured him, continuing to rub Jazz's sensitive ears. He didn't mind, really. Eli usually did more damage than the mouse had. When Coen felt Jazz's head move, he peeked down at the rodent and met his eyes, his ears twitching while he listened to the smaller hybrid's question. "You," he answered without thinking then blushed and corrected himself, "Er, I mean..I'd like some bacon and eggs, please."

He smiled and giggled at the lion's first response, his tail flicking. "That will have to wait until later, kitty cat. I'll go see if Eli's up, then make us some breakfast." He nodded, but paused, not wanting to leave his love after his bad dream. He also didn't want the lion to stop rubbing his ears... But, after the pause, he leaned up to plant a gentle kiss on the larger hybrid's lips. "I love you, kitty cat.."

"I love you too, mousie," Coen replied, smiling. But he didn't want to stop petting Jazz's ears yet so he simply continued doing so while his tail snaked around the smaller hybrid's waist, holding him in place. "Stay here for a little while with me. I wanna cuddle."

He smiled, closing his eyes, and easily gave in to Coen's desire. "Okay, kitty." He curled up with his lion-kitty, his arms wrapped around his love, and rested his head comfortably against the lion's broad chest. "I wanna cuddle, too."

Coen purred softly while he comforted Jazz, cuddling the mouse close and nuzzling him affectionately. "Do you feel better now?" he asked after awhile, planting a soft kiss on Jazz's forehead.

He nuzzled the lion's neck, and tilted his head up to kiss Coen's chin. "Yes I do, very much so. Thank you, Coen." He smiled, peering up into his kitty's eyes. "Do you want breakfast now?"

"Mmm...yes," Coen answered, purring lazily. "But now I have much more of a taste for you than bacon and eggs. Think we can stay here for a few more minutes?" the lion asked, his eyes glinting.

Jazz snuggled up more in his lion's arms, nuzzling his neck gently. "Okay," he said eagerly. Bed was warm and comfy and had his lion-kitty. Downstairs was cold and tiled and had a young foxchild to hinder them getting close. It took an extra moment however before the lion's first statement registered, causing a light blush to bloom in the mouse's cheeks, but he didn't know how to respond to it.

Seeing the telltale blush, Coen smirked and tilted his head, pressing a kiss to the mouse's temple. "You are soo cute," he murmured then moved to kiss along Jazz's jawline while his hands slid lazily down the smaller boy's sides.

The little mouse giggled, curling up in his love's arms. "No I'm not, kitty cat," he said stubbornly, crossing his arms and pretending to pout. However, it didn't quite work that well, a smile breaking through his attempted pout.
