Hisoka knew in his heart that Tsuzuki hadn't quite understood what Cino had been doing. But all the same... the wolf should be more careful! Sometimes... sometimes... sometimes Hisoka wanted to just SHAKE his partner and let him know what was going on. "...him for doing it. You for letting him."
Asteil smiled-- but upon closer observation, the demon had (heavily-disguised) bags under his eyes from not sleeping well at all. "Then follow me if you will, Atticus," the demon laughed. "I know all the secrets of this forest," he called as he began to lead the coon.

"But--but--it didn't really matter that he did it in the end, did it?" Tsuzuki whined, staring straight at Hisoka, should the kitten choose eye contact. "Kind of like a bird flying into a window, right?"
It was surprising how accurate some of Tsuzuki's metaphors could be...
"I'm sure you could show me a couple of the most interesting ones on the way," Atticus lilted, following the barest of steps behind, unable to keep in the questions roiling beneath the surface. But a 'What have you been up to for the past half a year?' would be awkward. Really awkward. He'd have to stick to current events.
"Perhaps after you've had a bit more rest, though. Those bags almost look like make-up, darling," he leaned forward, looking pointedly towards the demon's eyes.

The kitten glared at Tsuzuki at those words. "What happens when a bird flies into a window, Tsuzuki?" he asked the wolf.
Asteil flushed slightly. "I didn't sleep well last night," he admitted, smiling sweetly at Atticus. He couldn't explain why-- he didn't remember anything. All he had were emotions...

Tsuzuki winced slightly, still managing to produce a small grin. "To the bird or to the window?" he asked innocently.
"Loud room mates or nasty dreams?" the coon twirled to walk backwards once more--this really was how he preferred conversation on the move, he couldn't say why. From the moment he'd been... oh, yea high, he'd done it. "Because the former can be met with various, delightful forms of retaliation~"

"To both," Hisoka answered, voice and eyes unreadable.
Laughing slightly at the coon's antics, Asteil smiled. "Neither really-- probably the latter, but I don't remember my dream..." He wasn't sure why he'd said as much-- 'twasn't as if it mattered, really.

"Well... the bird... can fly away..." he never really liked thinking about the alternative, but it left itself hanging in the air anyway, "And the window wouldn't notice unless you hit it with an ostrich or something."
Atticus quirked an eyebrow, "There are multiple therapeutic methods of expelling bad dreams, including but not limited to... perhaps I shouldn't say," he teased. "Perhaps you're a sleepwalker? Ask the other 'nestlings' if they've noticed you tromping about, throwing blankets out the window or summat."

"The bird either dies, or gets up and tries again," Hisoka stated bluntly, "and the window's too dense to even notice."
Asteil laughed again, the sweet sound causing a rustle in the trees-- which some claimed had minds of their own. "I don't sleepwalk-- and I don't even know if I dreamt anything. It's as if..." he trailed off before blushing slightly. "Never mind.
"And as for that particular method..." Teil trailed off with a smirk. "I would indulge myself, but there's someone I've had my eye on... I don't think he'd appreciate it if I played around."

"Well--even if the bird does try it again, nothing's going to change," Tsuzuki insisted back. "Really, 'soka, what could a bird possibly get out of running into a window over and over again? Not like it matters to anyone but the bird, ne?"
Atticus shook his head and laughed in return, "Then vent your bad dreams on him, sweetheart," he countered.
So everything... really was fine... for Asteil... Minus the nightmares of course, but everyone got night frights at some point. Everything was fine. ...Really fine.

Hisoka didn't respond, only curled up tighter. Tsuzuki wouldn't understand why the cat was so upset... how it made the kitten feel so... threatened?
Asteil laughed quietly-- was that a tinge of sadness to the sound? "I would, but he doesn't particularly like being touched... and we haven't seen much of each other lately." He didn't know why he was telling Atticus this-- he barely knew the Coon Beta! But for some reason... it felt comfortable-- just talking to him. "As for the dream itself-- it wasn't a bad dream... just nothing."

Frowning, Tsuzuki closed the distance between them a little bit more. Arm's reach. Almost. Get close enough and maybe, just maybe you can make it all go away. "....'soka?"
"Tsch, I'm sure he'll enjoy it from you, sweetheart," Atticus rolled his eyes. "Some might play hard to get but in the end, it's all about that little shivering implication of adoration..." he trailed off, looking at the demon's eyes again.
"And what sort of bad dream revolves around 'nothing'? Fear of abandonment, darling? I won't tell."

Hisoka didn't respond except to curl up tighter-- almost as if it would make everything fade away...
Asteil smiled at Atticus' comment about Kairos before glancing down at the question. "I... it's not really important," he shrugged, continuing to walk. He didn't know... if anyone would really understand why the dream had been so upsetting. You go to sleep not remembering anything, you wake up not remembering anything-- what's the difference?

Reaching out carefully, he brushed fingertips across the kitten's forehead with the barest of intentions, "Hey," he whispered, as if calling from a great distance, "I'm still here."
Atticus' eyes narrowed a touch, but in contemplation rather than any sort of negative aspect, "It appears important enough to keep you tossing and turning," he responded finally. "I've never been much of a dreamer myself, but I know there are mystics among the packs who deal with this sort of thing."

Hisoka blinked before looking at Tsuzuki, the kitten's green, green eyes filled with so much emotion before he sighed and leaned against Tsuzuki. "Just don't... do that again," he sighed softly-- he knew quite well that they would continue to have these misunderstandings, but...
Asteil laughed quietly. "The only mystics at the Nest are Cino and Balin-- neither of whom I really want to talk to," he admitted softly. "No offense to Balin..." he added quickly, barely remembering who he was talking to. "But... I don't think either of them would really... want to hear about it."

Tsuzuki decided asking for specifics concerning what exactly he had done anyway wasn't going to do him any good. Because making Hisoka less unhappy in this situation probably involved avoiding Cino at all costs--because he could pratically see the rude scenario erupting from another encounter. "All right," he nodded easily.
And, after a moment, "Is there a way of sneaking out of the Nest? You know, to make sure we don't have another run in..."
"Cino... Balin mentioned him--speaking of Balin-dear, don't let him frighten you. He's just old," Atticus smirked to himself at the thought. Possibly the oldest Alpha doomed to be allied with the youngest Beta. Sometimes he could actually understand the other coon's irritation with him.
"But you certainly shouldn't worry about bothering him with anything, it's his responsibility to give you aid, be you coon or otherwise. Leaders must lead, after all..."

Hisoka considered that question for a long moment. "Yes," he decided finally. "But neither of us have wings."
Asteil laughed. "Last I heard, leaders looked out for their own, don't they?" he smiled. "The dream wasn't really important... it was more like... I almost remembered my past, but then it was gone again. It probably will just happen every now and then until I remember things," the demon shrugged.
