I'm going to keep calling him Fay, since that is what he wants to be called. I think he wants real Fay to keep living through him (Yuui) by his (Fay's) name, if that makes sense. Awww.

As for the identity and the memories...Somebody in the Clow Legacy forums theorized that when the real Fay died, our "Fay" got real Fay's memories and powers. That seems logical to me, since the flashbacks seem to be from both points of view. o_O I don't know.

And wtf, in the panel with the King's beard, I though it was FWR. o_o;

That's very possible actually... it'd be like another cross-over with Chobits... biggrin

(sorry, short post cos my sis wants to come on)

Dude...Fai just got scapegoated!!! I don't think all of those "misfortunes" were his fault. The people were fustrated and the royals had to do something so they made it all the twins fault and punished them because the situation was out of their control. Stuuuuuuupid!!

But yeah it does seem like the flashbacks were from both twins POV. The one who wanted to die in the previous flashbacks seemed to be the twin that was placed "above". Then our Fai(Yuui) seemed to be the one who had the hope but the other didn't. He wanted to die remember? So maybe the twin (our Fai's twin...the real Fai) commited suicide when FWR wanted to let him out. Or something....

Oh and about the whole "Dude! It's FWR!" in that pannel maybe it is or maybe it's another FWR. Like how there are different versions of the same personality scattered through out the different worlds or something like that. Wow...good chapter.

Somehow, I doubt that the real Fai committed suicide (I'm reading the chapter again) cos he was like 'you killed me', which kind of leads me to the impression that he didn't want to die.

With the 'the twins have to be unhappy for everyone else to prosper'... I'm wondering if that's just superstition, cos Fai (Yuui) didn't seem happy when everything was going haywire in Acid Tokyo, he seemed quite upset.

Ooh! And regarding the FWR beard... how does FWR know about the curse? So maybe there is a huge connection between the king of Valaria and FWR (someone's already said that, haven't they?)
PostPosted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 6:49 am

I think that is the curse that only works in Celes. The curse that says that he has to be unhappy for everyone else to be happy. So I guess Tokyo wasn't affected by that. Then maybe it is more than supersition...maybe, FWR does have some connection with the King or he IS the king and placed the curse on Fai (Yuui...whatever) himself.

In relation to the idea of twins being a bad omen:

Quote:
Finally, superstitious beliefs regarding children and childbirth contributed to the practice of infanticide. In many cultures, twins were believed to be evil and were promptly killed. In some tribal societies, twins of the opposite gender were believed to have committed incest in the womb and were condemned. In some cases only one twin was killed.

Quote:
In the past, before the arrival of Christianity here in the 19th century, twinning was considered a bad omen in much of Nigeria, especially among the Igbo and Efik ethnic groups in the southeast. In these cultures, twins were either drowned at birth or cast in the so-called "evil forest" to die.

But among the ethnic Yoruba in the southwest twins are traditionally regarded as special gifts from God and harbinger of good luck. Wooden images of twins are placed in special corners of homes where they are worshipped at regular intervals.

The Greeks and Romans liked twins - just look at the twin stars Gemini, or Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. The Hurons and Iroquois are also said to have been founded by twins. However, many times twins were considered to be a bad omen and one or both were killed, abandoned, or neglected until death. The aformentioned Yoruba tribe, though, switched from this form of thinking to believing twins were invested with a magical power.

So yes. That's my research on twins and bad omens. Somewhere I read that they were a bad omen in Japan, which makes me wonder. If CLAMP is so intent on screwing Fai over the most, why did they give him a twin that ends up dying for him, just like Subaru?

That's a lot of interesting research. It never occurred to me that twins would have been a bad omen anywhere...

I tried to do some research on twins and omens... and I got "a pregnant woman who eats twin bananas will have twins" apart from the fact that sounds too ridiculous to even be a superstition, I think that was someone playing a joke

That's very interesting phiso, I also hear from another place that twins that were born one male and one female were suppose to be the reincarnation of two lovers who never got the chance to be together and now they can.
I don't remember where it's from but I'll search for it. 3nodding

That whole theory played a big part in Ashya No Ceres if anyone has ever read that manga. It's by Yu Watase. The main characters are two twins who are reincarnations of two lovers from the past. It's a pretty freaky story. But that was interesting research. I've heard about that "evil forest" bit before. If anyone has ever read a book called "Things Fall Apart" it talks about some children being abandoned to the evil forest to die because apparently they comitted some kind of sin or other. It was written by an African so Phiso's research makes sense.

Eeh? Ceres and um... what's his name... Mikage were actually lovers? I've read a bit of it (like, two volumes) and that was actually one of the first things that came into mind when I read about twins being bad omens.

But unless I'm much mistaken, Fay and Yuui are boys right? They can't be the reincarnation of two lovers... unless the lovers were gay. wink

Actually.. what came into my head just then was, if Yuui killed Fay, then why is Fay still alive? I dunno why, but the thought of time flowing backwards came into my head... but that's too confusing to make sense...
PostPosted: Wed Jun 13, 2007 5:47 am

Oh no, I don't think the lovers case involves Yuui or Fai. Usually that was a myth people believed when the twins were a boy and a girl. I think that Fai's death was probably just an illusion...or something...to make Fai go into despair.

Oh and yes Aya and Aki were reincarnated lovers. Aya was Ceres and Aki was the progentor or the man who stole her robes and she was forced to have his kids and stuff. He has those scars because in the past life Ceres killed him. But..that has absoulutly NOTHING to do with TRC so sorry for the rant.

Hehe, okay....

CHAPTER 156! Omg... the weirdo king committed suicide! Right in front of Yuui! Omg!! *cuddles Yuui* it's okay, you never saw that!

So, now what I'm really wondering about is which one is the Fai we know? Cos.... which one was the one that Ashura took out?
PostPosted: Thu Jun 14, 2007 3:13 pm

I didn't understand 156....
So the king goes psycho and kills his citizens, and then goes to Yuui?
*Confused*
I'll go back and re-read it, I guess.
So, uh, "live paying for the sin"? I'm guessing it's guilt or something?
And the guy with the scroll to the neighboring-country. Why would he give the scroll blaming everything on the twins to one of the twins? I don't get it..
AH the picture of the twins on the chapter title-thing page is so cute! whee

The Fai we know is Yuui, the one on the bottom, right?

grette

Okay I think I might be able to answer a few questions. Okay the king went crazy killing a bunch of people and threw them down in the tower, then he eventually throws himself down there to kill himself and yell at Yuui. That's why he's there. The dude with the letter was probably trying to get it to the neighboring country to ask for help, but was killed on his way there and then thrown down. He had the letter in his hand so Yuui just took it.

Then, I think our Fai's name is actually Yuui, so it was the real Fai that was "killed."
