I like to alternate my characters so that I'm not watching the exact same animations for spells and attacks constantly. I'll usually stick Vincent in there because I like how flowy his cape is, but beyond that, it varies. I find myself being quite partial to long range fighters such as Yuffie and Barret (when you equip the correct weapon), but after getting the Long Range materia, I dropped them and went for everyone else.
Best times I had were when Cloud wasn't the forced leader of my party. When Tifa and Cid took over, there were a lot of fun times to be had. heart

My favorite team was Reno and Rude. biggrin
My favorite team you could actually play was Cloud and Sephiroth.
My favorite normal team was Cloud, Aeris, and Tifa. (Just because those were some of the more interesting characters in the game. I liked Vincent more, but he didn't get nearly as much plot development.)

My favorite team... Hmm, wow that's a good question. I would say Cloud, Vincent(post-Chaos), and Red.... Pre-chaos I would say Cloud, Red, and... Probably Cid or Sephiroth.

Cloud, Barrett and Cid or Cloud, Cid and Vincent. But i say it depends on how i progress the game. always get different outcomes

first time i've played i had cloud, yuffie and vicent and i ended the game with them
after that since it was really hard to play with vincent i started using cloud, yuffie and cid but sad because i couldnt have my sweet vicent with me
uhmm something weird happened with me when i tried to use tiffa with her last weapon against ruby weapon i think her weapon broken off because after that she could only make like 100 damage or something, did someone else out there had the same problem?

Avalanche Team: Cloud, Tifa and Barret.
The others were very under-leveled in the Bizarro Sephiroth fight.
But i managed.
