The plane was going down at a near-constant speed. Superman grabbed it from below, with both hands, and was still flying downwards, meaning he wasn't lifting the real mass of the plane yet. After a few seconds, before it could crash into the city, Superman redirected sideways / upwards, no longer going along with the gravitational pull. So he did eventually lift the full weight of the plane; just not at the beginning.

So he did eventually lift the full weight of the plane; just not at the beginning. COuld he have been letting it drop like that to help pick up speed so there be more lift so that it been lighter wen he push the nose up? Just asking.

I also like to point out that superman was not the only super hero to cetch a plane in mid air. Sayaman or what ever Gohan cald him self at the age of 18, also stop a giant plane and held it there in mid air wile smiling at evryone with no Sign of strain at all.''' Dead Goku was Shown training with 40 tons arm and Leg pads, and it did not slow down his speed or attacks at all.
Strangth wize Buu saga 3000 somethings, at a relaxed SSJ1 a man at 300 whatever its cald can Blow up a planit with little to no effert."""
So holding up a plane Gohan can do it, after he got softer, without any effert. I dont think Goku have any truble doing the same if not holding it up with one hand wile doing a lively JIG.

And are you trying to say that Superman needed effort to hold the plane up? It didnt look like it to me. Infact he was far from breaking a sweat.

Now they both can do it, and neither would have trouble.

Another thing I recently bought the first Season of JLU on DVD. Supergirl was shown to regenarate from a wound causing by a kryptonite laser almost instantly. That in mind Superman's Kryptonian DNA would be a big help in this fight.
